Mulberry Garden Munroe Falls

Don’t send your love one to live here. Mulberry presents like a wonderful place to live when you tour the facility. Once you are moved in it is a different story, so unless you have unlimited hours to check up and make sure the promises are being kept keep looking! Mulberry promises things they can’t deliver on: Laundry every week, good meals, great care etc. You play by their rules or they throw the resident out. There aren’t enough aides to go around and the aides have to waitress three times a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. The meal times last over 2 hours because the aides are busy getting the residents their meals. The residents are gathered up by the aides forced to sit in the dining area for 2 hours while the aides change their aprons (literally) and then take orders and deliver the cold food! It isn’t until the cold food is served to each resident that then the residents can be taken back to their rooms. Again, literally two hours 3 times a day. Have a meal there and look at these poor people sit there for the entire meal: it is painful. And if a resident needs assistance during this 6 hours a day - forget it, because the residents live around Mulberry’s schedule The nursing staff is GREAT, no problems what-so-ever, it is the management that you will have problems with. Your requests will be for nothing. You can request this or that four, five times and NO one in management does a thing about it. They will tell you “well we told so and so I guess someone didn’t get the message.” The communication between management and aides is poor to say the least, yet management tells you “call us” with any concerns. Plus management is flat out rude! As if you are a bother! Some of the aides are good but the turnover is ridiculous. There is a revolving door and it is VERY confusing for the residents having someone new come into your room every other week. This is not an exaggeration, read the employees comments on the website Glassdoor. If you are lucky enough to have an aide that sticks around for more than a month you might be semi okay until Mulberry gives them five days off in a row then you are screwed because your loved one will have someone who knows nothing about them and could care less. Management treats these employees like dirt and they are very rude to them. At night after 8 pm there is NO management in the building and NO ONE in sight you can roam the halls and not see an aide or nurse anywhere. They give showers to residents at ten o’clock at night because there aren’t enough aides during the day (probably because they are waiting tables). Put a monitor in your loved one’s room so you can monitor them! Mulberry isn’t watching them so do yourself a favor install a nanny cam so you don’t worry every night and day. I have had family in here and another assisted living facility and this is not the place to be. If your loved one doesn’t require ANY kind of care okay but not if they need assistance. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. They might qualify as a “senior living” facility but NOT an Assisted living!

[removed] and defensive administrarion

After 5 months we need to move my mother to a facility truly able to care for her. [removed] Do not carry out doctors orders. Crisis consistently on weekends when management is not there. In 40 days my mother was sent to 3 hospitals and rehabs. [removed] When administration knew we were going to take mom out of this place due to [removed] we got an order she needed a nursing home. No family council meetings keep families from knowing bad care is happening to more than us. Definitely falsely advertised as memory care facility. [removed]

This place looks nice and seems welcoming. Our experience was awful. They were super aggressive with getting us to agree to put our parents there. Even telling me to cancel my back up places because they were 100% taking them. I did just that and two days before they were supposed to move in, they rejected my father. It was awful. They were rude and refused to speak with US further. So we had no where to put them. No apologies, just no..we don't want him. Of course my parents want to stay together, but they tried to hold my mom to the "contract" the forced her to sign. Unfortunately for Brookdale they can't do that to Medicaid patients. Avoid this place, it just seems poorly run. There were miscomunications about transportation and care. It as if the just tell you what you want to hear so they can sucker You in. Then they realize they made a mistake and could care less who they hurt. Bad show Brookdale My. Hood!

If you want the truth...

The problem with the facility is what is behind the scenes. Never, EVER, do they have enough staff. Managers are insensitive to employees and care little for staff. How can they care for residents if they don't care for proper staffing? The facility is clean. Food is sub par. Prices are absolutely outrageous for residents, and visitors (they charge you to eat with your family and they charge you if you want to stay overnight). They have horrible communication. Messages are lost, the daytime secretary is rude and so are half of the CNA's. [removed]. As a family member, I am not surprised that there is such a high staff turnover. Three mechanical lifts are used for the entire facility and are not required to be cleaned in between uses. The managing nurse often forgets things like giving important injections, enemas, or wound care (which the Medication Aides cannot do). In the year or so that my loved one has lived in this facility, they have gone through six managers. SIX! In less than two years! The current managers are rude and cold. Do yourselves a favor; if you move a loved one into Winterberry Heights, pay close attention to them or they may not receive the care you are paying for.

The Worst place

For memory care, Edgewood Point is not for people who need special care. It is for independent people, even in memory care, because everything is in a group. The caregivers themselves, they are just not trained on how to deal with dementia patients. My father declined from walking to being completely bed ridden in about 3 months. All they really care about is making money. Even the lady in charge there told me word for word, " I'm trying to run a business here." So that's her main goal, not to care for my father. It was the worst place I have ever been too. They have an activities director who was loving and caring, but she was the only person.

There is not enough trained staff. Residents have to wait too long for help. The prices are astronomical. Too much money for too little service. Employees are fired and hired weekly leaving residents with untrained care.

Their assisted living was great. But the dementia care bombed.

Their assisted living was great. They had enough activities and things like that. I didn't have a lot of complaints when he was in assisted living. But the dementia care bombed. They were locking the residents out of their rooms during the day. There were lots of issues. They didn't contain the flu virus, they didn't post notices or anything. If you are questioning the care, follow your instinct.

not happy

We do not have my mother in Farmington Square at Salem any more because we were not too happy with it. We found them to be a bit understaffed for one, which prevented mom from getting the care and attention that she needs. One of moms biggest complaints was the food. The food was just terrible. I looked at it and I wouldn't even eat it. I don't understand how for that price they don't have better food. There was another man there that lost 70 pounds staying there because he would never eat. Mom had several things disappear during her stay there too. The staff seems to be nice and the place is kept pretty clean, but other than that we really were not happy with he place.

Very Disappointed in Elmcroft of Brownstown

Highly disappointed in the director and the management. The care of our loved one is not given top priority and they take away from the resident staff to do kitchen work and various tasks where time and assistance should be given to the residents. The resident assistants are not properly trained. They do not know how to handle Alzheimer/ dementia patients. They schedule activities and the residents show up to participate, but the activity person does not show up to lead the activity. Therefore, the residents have nothing to do. The food service is the same thing over and over again. No variety. They have a menu, but the menu is not followed. They serve types of food that should not be served to an older person.

not a good experience

It wasn't what it was cracked up to be. They were very deceptive, which really upset me, and I don't feel like my dad was getting adequate care. They quoted one price, got him in there, and the next thing I know it's a different price. I was not happy, and because my dad did not thrive there it was not worth it, so I brought him home and am caring for him myself. I did not feel that dad was safe there and it just was not a good experience.

Buyer Beware

If you are looking for a lot of bells and whistles, you will get them at this facility. However, the quality of care is less than satisfactory. I highly recommend a Dropcam (nanny cam) being placed in the room if your loved one does not have the mental capacity to tell you what happens while you are away.

Jill was nice but I didn't care for this property but the reception area and hallway leading back to the resident apartments smelled of urine. Also, the bathroom in the model unit had a TERRIBLE sewer smell. The price is not in line with the aesthetics. The best feature of the property is how close it is to TMC.

Not the best administration. They missed my appointment and handled my visit poorly. I turned tail and didn't take a tour. Would you trust your family member with a group that wasn't attentive to detail, missed the appointment and were poor communicators? Manager was defensive instead of quickly admitting they made a mistake. It's a several hundred thousand dollar outing for my mother and they made a poor impression.

Terribly shortstaffed

When we toured this facility everything looked very nice, but after moving my loved one here we have been let down by almost every aspect. The staff are friendly, and they do try very hard, but they are just terribly terribly short staffed. And the residents suffer for it, they are not receiving the level of care that they should. This also causes them to fall behind on things like the cleaning, and the activities. The activities are very lacking, my loved one constantly complains of being bored.

Let's try harder and be accountable!

We have had our grandmother there for a 11 days she should have had five baths, We were told they get at least 3 a week-in this time she has had one since arriving. She now has a urinary tract infection. House cleaning was touted as a perk-The room has yet to be cleaned. There is no accountability or communication. So far Bingo is the "activity" Corporations ARE NOT people!

Constant Employee Turnover

They were twice the price, service was awful and the food was awful. They had a total management turnover three times in one year. The place was Hearthstone but it got bought out, and the new people fixed the place up really nice, but the employee loss was horrible. The nursing person had been there ten years, and the minute the new company got there they fired her. Three turnovers of the directors down all the way to maintenance. The only person they didn't lose was the receptionist. No one knew the residents. My mom was really attached to the maintenance guy, and all of the sudden he was gone. Everyone there was slowly dying. At 95, she was the most with it person.

My 92 year old mother was scheduled for 10 days of Respite Care. On the Friday she was to begin her stay I was told she could not stay there unless evaluated by their RN, however Myrtle Beach Estates didn't have any RNs on staff that day that could do it. I was told the soonest they could evaluate her would be the following Monday. This was not good news as we were flying out of the country to begin our family vacation early the next morning. When I questioned how the facility operated without any RNs on staff at all through an entire weekend, I was told by Linda they only call the RN if it was an emergency...this should definetly should have been classified as an emergency. I then asked that Trish who I had been in contact with leading up to this point call me so we could rectify this situation. She never called me nor did anyone else from the facility ever call. The good news was when a family friend and a friend of hers were able to stay with my mother and keep her in the comfort of our home. I know she received way better care then she would had she gone to Myrtle Beach Esates, especially after experiencing first hand the lack of care, concern and professionalism exibited by Trish and Linda.

No Good

We had to hire a full time aide there because the level of care was terrible. She was falling and having issues. She had a long term care policy that covered it, and initially we liked it because it was clean and there were activities. She didn't do any of them, the food was terrible and care was terrible. It was a bust.
