NOT FOR ASSISTED LIVING!!

Keep your family FAR AWAY from here!! My grandfather is in the hospital because of this place! He got his first covid vaccine and his doctor said he recommended that he did NOT get the second round of vaccines because he had already contracted covid just a month prior to getting the vaccine and it could be worst for him. They disregarded his doctors request and gave him the second vaccine anyways. Not only that, he is supposed to be getting assistance through out the day, and they do NOT do what needs to be done to properly care for an individual. This might be a great place for someone who needs help occasionally and likes having someone there just in case something happens, but this is NOT the place for someone who actually needs assisted living. They do not properly assist, or properly clean, or anything they said they were going to do! They don’t always change them out of their wet clothes if they have an accident, which shouldn’t even be a question, they bring him food, but don’t come back to grab the dishes, the food is typical hospital food, not home cooked, I can keep going... Our family is very disappointed with the care they have provided my grandpa. Please, keep your family from this heartache and find another place!

Horrible place. My brother has gotten worse since he got moved there.

My 82 year old brother had a severe brain bleed and had to have emergency surgery. He was doing well enough so that the hospital released him to the Forum for rehabilitation. Big Mistake. Doctor never saw him, the nurse shamed him when he soiled himself, there was a covid case in the place and they refused to give him a vaccine. Finally a doctor came and said he was doing well. Wrong! After being transferred back to the hospital, which was far safer, he was diagnosed with pneumonia--which the folks at The Forum failed to see. We are in danger of losing him after our hopes were so high. I already wrote to Gov. DeSantes. This is deplorable! Keep out.

Hudson Creek Review

Hudson Creek was horrible. My mother fell, and we weren't even notified. Then a week later she tested positive for covid, and Hudson Creek basically tried to dump her into another facility that had multiple state violations. We were told there would be activities done with my mother, and provided materials for these activities. When I picked up my mother's belongings these materials were with her belongings unused. There were some staff members that were very caring, but the ones in top leadership were only concerned with money not the patients.

Stay away

We did not had a good experience with this facility. In my opinion because of the lack of care she got here lead to my sisters death. She ended up getting a stage 4 infection and it was very obvious that something was wrong. I was very displeased with our time here at Morningside of Bellgrade and would not recommend.

I would not recommend

I would want others to know when looking into Eagle Ridge that we had a very bad experience here. They would call me in the middle of the night and tell me I needed to pick him up when he would get violent, I had him in another facility and we never had this problem. The staff members did not know how to re-direct him. I would not recommend to others.

Looks can be deceiving

Very disappointed in the handling of the pandemic. For the most point, we have not been able to see our loved one but thru plexiglass during the day while we are working and can only go by what our loved one tells us. The food since COVID is horrible. Lots of sandwiches and convenience processed foods. They have been doing the laundry but I'm being told that my loved one is now missing clothes. The facility has to take them to their doctor's appointment otherwise they are quarantined to their apartment for 2 weeks but they have a very small window that they can take them and it fills up fast. Our loved one has bruises on them that can't be explained. They say they provide absolutely no medical assistance but there are non-medical issues that they refuse to help with either. The residents have pretty much been stuck in their rooms and no activities in solitary confinement. They could have music in the courtyard or even games if the resident is wearing their mask but they haven't done anything for them. With what we pay for our loved one to stay here you would expect during this pandemic better food not worse, extra cleaning but instead, they did less because they didn't want to enter the resident's room. I would think if we aren't allowed to check-in and make sure our loved one is doing well then we should be getting a lot more calls. Calls to say that our loved one isn't eating but once a day or that they have fallen and we may want to come out and look at the bruise to make sure they don't need medical attention. It's just been a very disappointing experience.

Very Disappointed

Beware the Gardens at Westlake: If you are looking for a safe, reliable place for your loved ones and an ethical, honest management team, I would steer clear of the Gardens of Westlake and any facility owned by Spectrum Retirement, LLC. In March of 2020, my grandmother passed away after several years as a model resident. I visited her at The Gardens of Westlake several times and was always happy to find my grandma enjoying life and her friendships with the outstanding staff there. When the time came to vacate her apartment and remove all of her belongings, I was shocked to learn about the plan the parent company, Spectrum Senior Living LLC proposed and insisted on following. ,They exposed my family to unsafe move out conditions, lied and broke their contract by hiring undocumented and unlicensed movers who dumped all of my Grandmother’s personal items into a Pods container in the parking lot in 90 degree heat., All of my grandmothers jewelry (Including her wedding rings) was stolen from her room during the move-out process. Despite assurances beforehand by Spectrum Retirement, LLC that the Garden’s management team would personally oversee the move- out with a professional service under the guise of COVID-19 protocols, no one showed up as promised except for a local and unlicensed team of two day laborers who were contracted for at the last minute. Spectrum Retirement, LLC would not allow even one family member in full safety compliance to be present while unsupervised day laborers handled the move of my grandmothers possessions. On the day of the move-out, one of the day-laborers , in a fit of rage, (cruelly subjected a whole wing of the residence and the residents to a profanity laced tirade. Knowing well how professional and caring the staff of Gardens at Westlake is, I am sure they must have been outraged and saddened by Spectrum’s mis-handling of our family ‘s last days as part of the community. This experience made a mockery of Spectrum Retirement LLC’s stated corporate values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence and Stewardship. Be careful of this place and keep a close eye on your loved ones and their possessions.

My mom had dry blood in her mouth, cradle cap, lost a lot a weight, and busted lip. I would not recommend this place. My mom was always dirty, grease in hair, stained clothes, her depends had an odor. I had to move her out.

My mother needed memory care and we do not think they had enough staff. They did not have activities or anything for the residents to do as a result. They had someone in the room prior to my mother living there and they never took all of the previous person's belongings out. The staff was mostly friendly. They also misplaced several of her clothing items. The price was good, however for the care my mother was receiving, it was too much.

Rent goes up 5% per year as service declines. They just eliminated the bus that took eldest residents to the supermarket Dr bank etc. They replaced it with 2 cares. Given they all have walkers there is no room to get anything which is ridiculous. Food is awful. They eliminated the resident managers. There is a pool but there are no lounge chairs or tables and you need to be Superman to open the door to get back in so no one uses it. I don’t recommend this place for anyone.

Guilty

My dad fell 10 times in 5 weeks. Need better pre admission assessment to identify potential patients. Hourly checks should be an interaction with the patient, not just looking in the door to see them sitting in a chair. Memory patients don't know what they need. Nutrition was not a priority! Served lots of carbs. Presented sweets before meal completed giving patients the opportunity to bypass nutrition. Did not help patients cut up meat, even though patients had no access to a knife. Very disappointed in the care from such a beautiful facility. Feel very guilty for trusting them with my dad.

MADE ME SICK AND SAD

Very disappointed with Elmcroft. They did not care for my grandparents. They made so many excuses it made me sick. We had to pull them out after a month. My grandma was dying and they cared ONLY about themselves as they sat in the breakroom laughing while my aging grandpa did all the work. My grandma passed away as soon as we left Elmcroft. They blamed everyone else other than themselves. My grandpa left crying because his wife was neglected on so many different occasions. Side not, my grandpa is the most gracious person I know. No one should have been treated like that. I hope I’m helping someone by staying away from that place.

More than Disappointed

My sister has been a resident at Brookdale of North Oaks for the past few months. The place was chosen by my niece because this was one of the places you recommended. She was told that they are memory care and hospice. However, the words ‘assisted living’ was not mentioned. My sister was terminal due to an aggressive brain tumor. She required skilled care for all her needs. In fact the past six weeks or so she required mechanical lift for her transfers and needed total assist with her activities of daily living cares. My niece was assured that she would have two people to help her at all times. That did not happen since they have been extremely short staffed often...especially the last few weeks. Most of the resident aides did their best but only a couple have had training beyond what the facility taught them. How can you expect that they use good infection prevention or know not to pull someone up by their arms or do a pivot transfer without the use of a transfer belt? I will say that the facility did give training on use of the transfer belt and distributed TBs to each resident after we talked to them. However, I still saw residents being pulled by their arms and ambulating with staff without the use of the belt. Staff wore their soiled gloves from my sisters entire cares and then left the room, most times, with the gloves still on. The used briefs and towels were placed on the floor or they hung them over my sister’s bed board. There were no soap dispensers or alcohol gel available in the room or bathroom. The paper towels were way under the bathroom sink and I didn’t even see that they were there until my sister was there for a few months. They don’t give reports from one shift to another. I asked people working there and they all said they didn’t. Couple examples on why I also believe this to be true: 1) My sister had problems with constipation due to her inactivity and her pain medication, so she required medications. When we would ask if she had any results, we were told that they didn’t know. This happened more than once. 2) In mid July, several residents at the facility had stomach flu. We observed the people get ill and/or were told by staff about ‘so and so’ being sick. I got sick within 24 hours of visiting my sister. The hospice music therapist, my niece and her son also got the symptoms. I went and talked to staff about why they didn’t put outbreak management in place... at least a sign at the door telling visitors they had some GI flu there? I was told that there was no GI flu there. That the only resident who got sick was someone who had diarrhea from taking an antibiotic. I was told that I probably got sick from something I ate. The only thing that the music therapist and my family members had in common is that we had visited Brookdale. I had never even met the music therapist and I didn’t visit my sister at the same time as my other family members. I believe there was no investigation. They wouldn’t have anything written in a report or passed on to next shift because of the lack of communication. The medication aides told me they had a whole one day of training. No wonder why several didn’t know how to administer a suppository or put on a pain patch. The last couple weeks, they finally had some LPNs scheduled, but prior to that there was no nurse around after the day shift on week days and none on the weekend. Again, I think the aides did the best they could with what training they had but I do NOT think that you (A place for mom) should be recommending nor should the assisted living facilities accept residents who are heavy skilled care. I am extremely dissatisfied with the administration and the care that my sister received

People were very nice but the place smelled and didn’t have significant upkeep visible. They also had a long wait list anyway

My first impression was horrible. It started from the receptionist was very unattentive. The Sale Director was not aware of our appointment then made us wait another 20 mins. I would not send anyone there based on the service alone. This looked like a step up from a skilled nursing center.

A Pitiful Memory of the Little Care at the Forum

To the manager. My brother-in-law stayed for a while. We all (the family) was greatly disappointment. You need to work hard if thing have remained the same. One Saturday my housekeeper and I arrived to do things in his apartment. We couldn't find him so sat in the hallway. His neighbor, a lovely elderly woman who was fairly much bed bound was calling for help. There was no one around. Finally we went in to see if we could do anything for her. She was thirsty. I asked why didn't she call. She said it is no use no one will come. They know I have a private aide due in an hour and half. How pathetic is that? The next day there a group of people sat on the white sofa. A man they alll knew needed help to go to the bathroom. They were yelling at the top of their lungs. No One. Then they yelled "To late again! Please do not try to make bad good without changing it permanently.
