Does not meet basic expectations

After just 3 months there our experience has been BAD. My uncle is an amputee and a veteran on full disability. Our experience has been negative since move in day when we arrived with him and his things to be told we couldn't move in that day as a nurses evaluation was needed first. After some "discussion" the nurse on duty evaluated him and he moved in. This was preventable with communication. ACH payments were not offered at application and not mentioned until asked. No invoice was received for the 1st months rent. That was mailed, deposited but never credited to his account. The ACH paperwork was also lost. Although we stated clearly several times that his medical care and meds come from the VA no one mentioned that they don't contract with the VA causing us additional costs. Add to this the over powering smell of urine when you enter the doors, AND feces in the hall floor for over an hour! We pay $500 /m for care but no one helps or prompts him to bath on a regular basis.

Charged my father in law for four months of care. Told us they were understaffed and made family liable for care 24/7.

This facility did not provide a safe or home like environment. My father in law was denied fresh air on the court yard and the facility could not offer adequate staffing. The facility charged over [amount removed] for four full months, but he was only there two and a half months. He is now in a capable and caring environment, safe and home like. He is actually allowed to get fresh air in the courtyard too. So glad he left Ontario Estates and went to [community name removed].

Improvements Needed

Poor security, spider webs everywhere, cleaning staff have residents sit in the hall as they attempt to clean, no receipts given for meals, employee turnover is high, laundry room dirty, trash room NASTY, price has gone up twice in one year, (YES 2x’s) and more importantly my mom has now gone 2 weeks with no air conditioning!!! Went to buy a fan, because the work order has not been acknowledge (meaning it’s not her turn..really!) My mom likes the activities and the people. If this isn’t fixed by the end of the week…I will be calling the Dept of Aging. Come on Fountainview $[removed]a month and you can’t guarantee safety and air conditioning and that’s the minimum. The people running Executive Drive need an update…bring the others back that were there in 2022. STOP hiring people that don’t care.

DON’T EVEN LET YOUR ENEMY LIVE HERE!

Great amenities, chef-inspired meals…BULL! The Director of this facility is evil and residents do not like her. Many are trapped, though, with no family and nowhere else to go. Ms. Director knows this and takes advantage. The food is not chef prepared. The most experience in the kitchen has is a high school grad who worked at Burger King. If you aren’t a part of the anointed little group the Director determines, you are treated like crap. Go live anywhere but here and for heaven’s sake, don’t let seniors live here by themselves. They will need someone to live with them to make sure the Director treats them fairly. Worst place I’ve ever lived!!!

Lack of hot water in units

My mother has been a resident for 5 years, she has had intermittent problems with hot water in her unit on and off. These have only gotten worse. The management team has ignored these problems and done nothing to make amends. It is unacceptable that a person in their 90's not be provided hot water in their unit. We have written emails and she has spoken up multiple times only to be ignored.

Our Experience

They look at a person's income or SS income and then go back on their word on cost. Cost is a huge factor and they are just dishonest. The facility looks clean and they are moderately friendly. The head nurse lady does know what she is doing and they do get my loved one out of bed. The food and activities both seem great. Billing is a mess and dishonest. However, the care staff makes up for that and is friendly. Billing operates based on giving an initial fee to get people in the door. Then for us, they simply doubled the care cost which has created a lot of financial issues

Declining Management

I am near the end of my rope with 5 Star Premier Residences of Boca Raton. I wasted three hours waiting for my last four dinners, and they were the wrong order when they came. I have been living here for over three years. The rent goes up 9-10% each year, and the life-quality deteriorates correspondingly. The Executive Director excels at ignoring me. She has to ":check with "Corporate" "to give you a yes or a no on the day of the week. If I need to change my A/C air filter at three months, I have to prepare a work order for a routine maintenance item. If I don't submit the work order, it may not get changed for six months or more. Then, they lose the work order. Happy Hour hardly EVER STARTS ON TIME. Just another frustrating management deficiency. I am not a complainer, but I have no room in my life for POOR MANAGEMENT at MY EXPENSE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!

Because my mother was having a very difficult time assimilating, and in general the facility encourages family members to not be in contact for the first week to two weeks, I really don't know anything about the staff. The memory care director, [name removed], did seem very competent, caring, and provided me with feedback especially when my mom had a good day or a good moment. I was not privy to any of my mom's meals, so I don't know about the food quality. No real suggestions for improvement. Although our situation was very disturbing I do feel it was unique. If a guest is refusing to get up, I would recommend that the staff not allow them to remain in a urine soaked bed and you're in soaked pull-ups for multiple hours. In spite of our experience, I do believe it is a quality facility and I would recommend it. If someone has a loved one who is an extreme exit seeker, it could initially be a real problem And they should inquire about that up front.

Memory care doesn't get the attention assisted living does

Memory care doesn't get the service or attention Assisted living does. They get the same breakfast every single day while assisted living gets what ever they want. The other meals are also terrible compared to assisted living. They don't get activities like assisted living. They have residents that are a danger to other residents and the staff, managments knows this and continues to not do anything about it. I would never put my family in the memory care unit

All that glitters . . .

While reading through the many reviews, a question came to mind, how can anything be so "Perfect" when dealing with people, healthcare and aging? Having been raised in a family that devoted their lives to healthcare, I learned early that while you strive for the best as humans we all fall short. When human frailties can't be acknowledged it appears that an organization is unable or unwilling. Yes, the building is breathtakingly beautiful, except for when there is no hot water for several days. The luxury of the place is obvious the minute you drive up until house keeping doesn't clean your loved one's room for several days or their Renal failure diet is not observed. Then you realize all that glitters is not gold. Every place has issues but when there are issues at Magnolia Springs the issues are not acknowledged and they get muddled, becoming personal. Instead of healthy respectful discussion, the hallmarks of good leadership, dismissive and avoidant attitudes prevail.

Manor Pointe in Oak Creek WI

The building is poorly constructed and therefore extremely noisy. Residents are not respectful of their neighbors and slamming doors that make walls shake are sadly not uncommon. Walls are so thin that voices, tv sound and even telephone ringing can be heard. Apartment entrance doors have 2 inch gaps that allow hallway noise to enter the apartments and seem to help make doors get out of alignment making them hard to close and lock. People walking around in the upper apartments is enough to make the ceiling fixtures in the apartments below shake and rattle. The is a 24/7 problem and management does nothing to address it. Common area and hallway carpets are threadbare and seamed with electrical/packing tape. Group activities are largely card games. If you move here - be prepared to pay top dollar for bottom quality.

Bad Move

Let me begin by saying they raised rents across the board by [removed]% for Independent Living. It has also increased every year since he moved in but this was the worst. I think they know many people can't move at this stage of their lives. My family member has been there for 5 years and the services continue to decrease. The food continues to get worst. They have no chef and the server admitted all the food is frozen and just heated up. People routinely send their meal back. The residents are routinely talked down to. Transportation is minimal. There used to have two drivers, now one. It is sad to not be able to help and have to listen to how unhappy most people are there. Please think twice before taking your loved on to the Court of Palm Aire.

Not Good

First off ,I would like say that the aides were great. But we had bad experience with one of the nurses and administration. The first night they did not activate my mother’s call button so that she was unable to notify anyone for assistance. Throughout her stay her medication was not given correctly to the point that she deteriorated so badly that she could no longer feed herself. But the worst is when we finally removed her that they kept charging my father’s account and expecting my father to pay even though she has not been there for over a month.

not a good experience

This facility courts you and talks up what a wonderful place they have for your loved one, but once you are in, you can't get a response from anyone, my mother was had become ill in the first days of her moving in and it was completely ignored, had to be hospitalized . Grandview never inquired about how she was, we returned there only to gather her belongings and moved her out. Would not recommend this place to anyone

Poorly run

This place has been in a downward spiral since the executive director came on board a year ago, compounded with Fountainview being taken private. Since then, there has been almost a complete turnover in staff in every aspect of the operation. Basic upkeep is nonexisitent. Dirty carpets and elevator (even the recently refurbished one), poor housekeeping, holes in the wall, broken air conditioning, moldy ceiling tiles, rusty ceiling frames, dirty chair cushions, malfunctioning master fire alarm, and broken entrance gate to name a few. The food service is in dire need of improvement; slow service, lukewarm food, and menu experimentation. This is their 3rd or 4th chef in 18 months. When the Executive Director is addressed with problems, she never takes responsibility and replies that its being worked on, as weeks and months and over a year for the elevator, go by. The nursing staff is caring but understaffed. It's not a place I'd recommend. Take a tour of Building 5 and see for yourself.

The downhill slope of AP

Ashley Pointe was a wonderful place to live. A happy home, lots of activities & outings. I moved my dad there several years ago. Jan. 2023 the company changed ownership & things have gone drastically downhill. The new ED they brought in has systematically gotten rid of all of the beloved employees that made AP so special. It is such a depressing place to be now, I wish I could find another place for my dad. So many residents are sad & upset. Inedible food. We went from having 1-3 outings a week on our bus to only 1 since Sept. We used to have 6 activities a day that were fun & enjoyable. Now we might have 5 but what they call an activity is watching her pop popcorn. In a microwave. The new ED stated that we don't need do birthdays now because these people 'won't remember anyway'. This is a vulnerable population- they need people to stand up & have their backs & fight for their rights. Like many of them fought for our freedom. Please do not bring your loved one to AP. You will be sorry.

Needs to stop

If I could type out every deplorable description of this place, it would take me a week to do so. The only positive note I can make is that of one sweet lady that works there. She is a true gift. She goes above and beyond for any resident in need, even if that leaves her in a bind. Floor Manager/Receptionist. Trained to deal with dementia patients? Honest? Communication? Trust? Kind? None of that. You will constantly worry if you place your loved one here.

Not recommended

My loved one was previously a resident at Morningside of Bellgrade and his overall experience at this facility was terrible. There were a couple of big staff changes right after he moved in, which impacted issues that had been discussed and were to be addressed for my loved one. I never really got responses and changes were never made. The aides were less than helpful with care and, at some points, rude to my family and I. My loved one's dietary plan wasn't followed. A couple of the nurses were good and kind, but others were not at all acceptable in their attitudes. After completing a couple of months there, we left due to poor conditions and lack of care. I would absolutely not recommend this facility to anyone.
