To prospective residents, My mother has been residing at Brookdale in Northville, MI since [date removed]. All through this difficult time with the Covid restrictions on visits, the associates at Brookdale have done all that they are able to for Mom to have a comfortable experience. My Mom has been invited to participate in many activities to keep up her social skills from exercise classes through Bingo games. The Director and her staff of sales, nursing, doctor care when needed, daily attendants, and maintenance, are all only a phone call away and are encouraged to get to know the families of their residents. We know Brookdale will never be like my Mom's own home, but they do try to make it a positive experience for her and the family.

I think they have done very well through the virus with keeping their residents safe. All in all, we are pleased that we made the decision to go with Isles of Vero Beach, the value for your money is great here. They seem to be handling the activities well by limiting the number of people participating but are still able to offer them to residents. I would recommend.

It is a nice facility, I have found the staff to be cooperative in problem solving and meeting my mother's needs. I think they have staff turnover and some variability in the quality of staff. The food is pretty good and that matters a lot to my mom. The allow us to bring in additional personal caregivers and they are willing to work with them. We chose this community because I liked the setting and they were able to provide the level of care she needed. It is also an all inclusive price and they have a commitment to aging in place.

My grandmother has adjusted well. After a few bumps, we are very happy with Orchard Park.

My grandma chose to go here straight from rehab after a fall. She doesn't seem happy. It was a big change, she lived in a beautiful condo, now she lives in something like a hotel room, with a mini fridge and a really loud air conditioner like you would have in a hotel. So it's not very homey to me. I've been talking to her about moving to a place that would be more like her condo. She's also not allowed to go any where without an approved person picking her up. So she can't call a cab to go to Publix. They don't do bus outings or transportation. They also didn't want her seeing her own eye doctor, they wanted her to go to one of their doctors. I found all this to be strange. She's her own power of attorney. I just wish I could get her to consider someplace else where she would be happy. She says the food is good and there's lots of activities. For me it was really sad to visit her there, I felt like she was living in a hotel room just waiting to die or something. Cut off from the world, and unable to do the things she once loved to do. I know she is limited due to mobility issues, but they won't let her do anything herself which will just cause her to become more immobile.

Exceptionally helpful and kind staff. Always respectful and cheerful with the residents. Happy we found this place. A charming atmosphere. Just wish the rooms had room for a small table and a tiny refrigerator to make it more like home.

Not the best but it's better than most. Mother is 92 and has arthritis very bad. None of the activities interest her. She cannot walk very far, so outside activities are not for her.

Brookdale is very homey and welcoming great staff on all levels

The place is nice, the value is good, the rooms are nice and many of the people that work there truly care about the residents. However, there are some people that come off as uncaring and uninterested in being there and the residents can tell. The good news is the place is very clean, the restaurant is very very good and communication is good. My complaints are lack of parking- it is not always possible to park in the lot even though the van and employees park there. My BIGGEST complaint is the activities- there is not a lot of variety in activities and many of the posted activities are not attended at all so they are really not an activity at all. There is a lot of downtown for the residents and not a lot of structure in the activities. My mom spends almost all of her time in her room and feels isolated and alone.

My loved one has been a resident at Orchard Park Southfork for about 6 months. For the most part, we have been pleased. The major concern/complaint is the understaffing and/or the need to keep the staff. Staff call off or quit abruptly and there is not enough employees available to assist the residents in a timely manner. The residents' call buttons are sometimes pushed several times for assistance within a period of 60-90 minutes before a staff finally comes in. What if the resident was in an emergent need or had fallen and could not get up. That to me is unacceptable. Another concern/complaint is the food is not very good and they keep saying they are making changes, etc. but there are no changes. There could be more activities and social events for the residents. There are some everyday, but for the more active residents (in house) there could be more offerings for activities. On a positive note, the nurse directors and the staff are all very kind and seem to care about the residents. They just need to step it up and go to the residents when the call buttons are pressed and with verbal requests for assistance. No one should have to wait longer than 15 minutes (tops) to be checked on and assisted. Also the cost has gone up $500.00 a month effective February 2018. That is an outlandish amount for a rent increase, by any facility. I do not know if we can continue to keep out loved one staying there. A fixed income is very tough and we are having to provide financial help.

The facility is great. My mother in law was treated with care and dignity. Just pray when your family member passes away they don't own you a refund. It has been over 2 1/2 months since she passed and they still have not refunded our money. When I call I am told it has been processed. Yet, no check has arrived. They promise to call back and no calls are made. This has left a sour taste in my mouth for the facility. It shouldn't take that long to return our money. If you refer someone there, your referral bonus is not a check to you, like is implied. It can only be applied to active resident's account. This happened with the person who referred me there.

First off I want to say that this community is nice we just had a horrible experience due to the lack of nursing care. They have a nurse but she isn't full time and then she was hardly there at the times she was supposed to be. My mom had a wound on her foot and they failed to let me know that she had this sore and it turned into a bone infection and she had to be in the hospital and then rehab. Mom loved the ambiance and the daily activities they offered and they have christian activities like Hymn singing. The food wasn't that great. Everything seemed to be orderly and clean. I just think if a place has a nurse they should do wound care on the elderly.

My sister lives here. So far, there have been positive and negative experiences. She’s fallen on more than one occasion and the response time for the staff to help her has taken too long. When she first got moved in, her alert system wasn’t even working and sometimes she has to wait a while for a nurse to come by. The food isn’t the best either, which is sometimes the most important thing about these places. However, she likes the unit she’s in and she seems comfortable in it. They do help her get to and from doctors’ appointments and they have a bus that takes the residents to the supermarket. Overall, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place to others.

We toured Brookdale, and liked the facility a lot. It was very nice, and when the time came to choose a community to move to, it was definitely a hard choice. we did end up opting for a different community primarily due to price point.

I toured Elmcroft while I was looking for a community to move my mother into. It was a nice community, but we were, over all, not very impressed. It was a clean, homey community, but we were looking for something more upscale to suit my mother’s needs, and we ultimately chose another place for her. However, Elmcroft may be perfect for families looking for a community that feels like being cozy and at home

Dad still drives so this wouldn't have been a good location for him it is not in a familiar area for him. We liked the community although it was smaller. The rooms we saw were a little bigger than others. The staff was very friendly super nice.

I had recently taken a tour of this community for my father and I have no complaints of how things had went. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. I liked the property and thought the staff did a great job with the overall presentation. They just did not have the memory care that my dad would have needed.

The person that took us on tour was nice. This community looked clean. This is a larger community and I felt it would not work for my loved one.

This was a nice community when I visited. The people I met were nice. This community seems to offer some nice amenities. I just did not think this community would work for my loved one.
