Very nice living facility ( I have a cottage ) which is spacious and well equipped. Great neighbor's. There are many activities available if one desires . The food is a continuing shortfall but there is a recent change to a different provider so fingers crossed !

I think it is great lots of group activities. I would recommend to others.

Overall the facility is clean and food well prepared. My sister is medically complicated and the intake process was a bit sloppy, the care plan needed revisions which caused misunderstandings with the staff caring for my sister, these finally got fixed after a month. Of note, the RN care manager and many of the aides appear to have been let go or transferred to other jobs, some told us this was for performance issues. Overall still happy she is there but it has required vigilance and advocacy on my part.

The facility was nice and clean. The room sizes were good. We were comparing this facility and another facility and ultimately decided on the other facility because of convenience and a few items that they included that we were interested in.

Excellent tour, but felt apartments were dreary. Loved the cottages tho they are meant to be lived in by more independent and active seniors.

I preferred a second- or third-floor apartment with a patio, and mine was on the second floor with a patio, which I really enjoyed. The apartment was well situated, clean, and had a very nice bathroom. However, the bathroom was not very handicap-friendly, and overall the apartment felt a bit small for the price. When it comes to food, [community removed] has the best dining—hands down. The serving staff and meal-time management were excellent and very well organized. One feature that was difficult to find elsewhere, but that I truly appreciated at [community removed], was having a registered nurse on duty along with 24-hour security. The pool and hot tub were also amenities I used. The pool itself was very shallow and quite cold, so I wasn’t able to swim comfortably. However, I used the hot tub often for exercise, and it was very helpful. Music is more important than many people realize, and I loved that there were several pianos available—especially the grand piano, which was beautifully maintained and well tuned. The residents had a great deal of freedom, which encouraged interaction and connection. The on-site store was a wonderful convenience, and the overall atmosphere was kind, welcoming, and fun. Activities were enjoyable and relaxed. There were some challenges. The CEO at the time was difficult to work with, and both staff and residents tended to avoid interactions when possible. When that was no longer possible, some people chose to leave, as I eventually did. Nearby stores were convenient, though the sidewalks in the area could use improvement for wheelchair accessibility. These are the things that stand out most in my mind.

The facility/tour guide were welcoming and straightforward. The villa we were shown was clean and ready for occupancy. The tour ended on a good note,

I enjoyed my visit. [name removed] was super helpful. It looks like this facility will meet my parents needs at a price they can afford.

The one thing I do remember is how kind all of the staff was. Every one of them. I don't know that it would have worked with that population, but I was thinking it would be nice to have more organized activities. Or maybe some music brought in. Where my mom is now in California, I know we're talking about a different type of area, but maybe if Shawnee could bring in some high school groups to play, etc., but look into a type of musical group.

Very clean, adequate and friendly staff. It's very bright and not dark and dreary. I would recommend. The staff provides updates in a timely manner

Communication steps being taken is what stood out. Already have recommended... mentioned to others that I am pleased about facility... time will tell

The apartment is lovely. The only problem is the kitchen is not handicap friendly. The residents and staff are very friendly. They are understaffed and if you need help to get off the floor or need a nurse to get medication you may have to wait an hour. The nurses office and medical director's office are usually empty. I waited 30 minutes for a nurse to show up. They don't have a button you can speak through so they don't know if there is a real emergency. That is a problem. They should update there technology. Overall it's a nice place and I would recommend it.

It seemed like a vibrant and happy place. There were activities underway and people of all abilities interacting. The restaurant style menu is a plus.

Bedford Estates is a clean place, and the people who work there are very nice. However, the food quality is very disappointing, and that is the main problem. Aside from the food, everything else is good.

Food, great. Activities, Great. Hired help, possibly not enough. I would recommend. From independent living to memory care there are many activities daily and it's worth it to see the preschoolers at daycare down below. As with any place we visited, I got the feeling it's a good idea to keep an eye on things

Clean, neat facility. Majority of staff friendly and helpful. Things that would improve living in th facility: allowing/encouraging residents to open their doors and mingle during the day. Encouraging personalization of doors, entries to rooms/apartments. Replacement of cracked/torn flooring, covering open unused electrical outlets in the hallway, speedy repair of resident laundry facility equipment There are architectural features that should have been taken into account when designing the building- - larger elevators ( for moving in/out ), senior friendly stairways ( currently narrow & steep ), hallway access to Homestead apartments rather than through the dining room.
