I felt like everyone is very caring, it's clean and small, which is really nice. I don't think they made an effort to give an orientation. She got a folder but didn't really get shown around or where things were, so it hasn't been a very smooth transition. It's taken some time to get some maintenance work orders done. It's a beautiful place, and they have nice activities.

Overall a very good experience. We were assisting an older relative find a place after surgery. The activities were not what he was hoping they would be. Some of his comments: Pro The staff and residents are very friendly, always offering smiles and hugs. It was comforting after surgery to have health staff available. The special events were pretty spectacular . Cons Too quiet. Everyone disappears after dinner. Not even conversation. Meals can be delicious, but the staff want everyone to eat at 4:30 much too early for me.

My father in law is pretty happy there. The value is excellent. We have had a few instances where the communication has not been very good when they moved him down in his therapy. There was some general housekeeping issues we weren't aware of. The food is good. There are plenty of activities available. He enjoys the people there. Everyone seems nice. We are still settling in, but It's a good facility so far.

My parents lived there for 5 years. The building is well kept and staff are mostly friendly and caring. The food is good and has a restaurant feel. The cost is high if you are an introvert who doesn't want to do bingo or learn about Shakespeare. They nickel and dime residents for everything. [Amount Removed]. For unscheduled cares...

We have moved her to a new place. She was t very happy at Village Shores. Food, privacy of independent living (lots of times maintenance or admin would walk into my MIL apartment w/o notification or knocking). Thing that bugged her the most was the noisiness of the area. Lots of police sirens, airplane noise, etc.

The response time once the resident calls for help is at least 30 minutes. That's our biggest issue. Not many activities either. But the food is wonderful!

They could improve communication with the facility and loved ones especially those in charge of care. Also upfront pricing.

Overall experience is okay but I always have to keep up on that caregiving they're always doing something they shouldn't do very tiring, cleanliness is okay meals and dining it's okay activities is okay value for the cost I guess it's about right but the caregiving situation of the turnover rate is under par but it might be par for the course not good enough to change take care of the your loved one consistently they put their health at risk all the time minor stuff but sometimes major stuff.

The reason we gave the overall experience a 3 is because placing our loved one in independent living rather than assisted living ended up moving within the complex at our expense. What we like most about the community is the friendliness of staff, the cleanliness, and my Dad always said the food was really good. Yes I would recommend this community to other families, I wish my Dad was able to stay there

Many good things, but weak in the nursing Department, staffing on weekends, and no CNAs, though they publish in their June '23 newsletter that they want to hire CNAs. The RAs (resident assistants) are used instead. They deliver medications but know nothing about them. They mostly don't introduce themselves or have bedside manner training. It is hard to understand the English of some of them. It would be much better to hire CNAs, and St. Louis Park High School has a program for this...you can be licensed at 18 if you complete the program in high school. On the plus side, the activities are great and so are the walking trails and the resident attended gardens out back. Meals are expensive compared to some other places nearby.

I toured Summit Place Senior Campus during my search for Independent Living for my loved one. This facility was pretty bland and there was just no active vibe there. It also felt like a very sterile environment to me.

Most of the staff are friendly, but some are standoff-ish. They also talk a good game, but feel some of the staff aren't getting the message. Not following up with preset instructions, or aren't aware of those.

It seemed like more of a room, than an apartment type of feel. It was okay but not a good fit for my loved one.

The negative was that they had difficulty with hospice and did not know how to interact with them, which made it really hard for us. The lack of communication was the biggest issue. Overall due to our experience I would probably not recommend Village Shores to other families looking.

Brightondale did not seem as up to date as some of the other facilities that I checked out. There was nothing wrong, it was just that the atmosphere was not the right fit for my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and we were not really impressed with the staff, they just seemed like they were there to do a job and did nothing special to make us feel welcomed. Other communities we were visiting went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

My mom was in memory care. The food was not good and was served cold. It was better when she was in Assisted Living. The rooms were very nice. The staff was helpful, some were better than others. The nursing staff was great. They have a music room with a piano and offered religious services which was important to us.

I appreciate [name removed] giving my Dad a great tour. My Dad's main concern was the expense. The pros were the pool and chapel.

With my Mom's memory care needs it will cost a minimum of $120,000 a year to live in an approx 500 square ft one bedroom apartment. There is no washer or dryer in the apartment that he saw. The benefits of this place are the 3 meals a day provided for both my parents in the cost, access to the pool and church services.
