Serene Gardens

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far I have no complaints of how things are going. The facility is a lot newer so I am hoping once they get some more experience with how things go, everything will run smoother. The staff have been kind and I am comfortable with the care they have been providing my mother at this time.

Although my family and I loved the community itself we did not like the location of it at all. Its just a little to far to have my parents there and us away from them. If this dosent apply to you I would say go for it.

My loved one was here for a brief respite stay, and while there are a few things they do very well there are also way they could improve. To start with the good, the caregivers are wonderful, they are all very friendly and professional. However, it is a very costly facility, and I don't feel like they provided much in terms of services and amenities for the price. They also did not have much in the way of activities.

Nice place, need to actively monitor your loved ones level of care

My mom one is in Clairbridge, the memory care community. The managers I worked with were very accommodating. They bent over backwards to help us. The food is excellent. I visited three times before my mom moved in.

Positive: The intake process was smooth and the main contacts[Name Removed] were pleasant to work with. Care staff were also nice and friendly. The facility was clean and seemed to offer a range of activities. Negative: it quickly became apparent [Name Removed] care needs were beyond what Serene could provide. She needed extra assistance eating, getting out of bed, etc. Several times we found her food in her room uneaten and her still in bed. I don't fault the staff for this. I think there were simply too few of them for the number of patients. Bottom line: it's a good place if your loved one is still relatively physically capable. Otherwise, the level of care isn't suitable.

I am unhappy with staff at the facility. I would tell others looking to choose a facility that has trained fully skilled at patient care and with memory care training if this is needed for their loved one. I would not recommend Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills.

Helpful with setting up and assisting families . It recommended for more high functioning people. My mom is more high functioning than the people that lived there so it wasn't a fit for her . I was disappointed they don't assist with rides to doctors appointments

Overall the place was nice and the people were very nice and genuine. They were slow to respond to the call button. Also promised to return and never came back. Switching over the medication service was a nightmare and no one at Serene understood the ins and outs of the process. The food smelled amazing but was not very nutritional. Lots of carb heavy meals and the vegetables were always overcooked. My mother was a diabetic and I was concerned with the amount of carbs she was eating at every meal. I never tasted the food myself because of my own dietary restrictions. They are understaffed which causes the workers to be stressed. Also the workers are hired off the street and facebook which means some lack the passion for this type of hard work. This creates turnover, understaffing, and overworked employees. But again everyone we interacted with was very nice and genuine. I would recommend Serene the place is very secure and I felt comfortable that my mother was safe and in good hands. They can work to improve the few concerns I expressed.

Not sure I would recommend. When my mom really started to decline I am not sure she got as much care as she needed. We picked them because it was a new building nicely appointed.

They always seem to be short staffed, price is constantly going up The experience would be better if they were fully staffed, and if they make sure they are doing their job instead of being on their phones and ignoring patients.

It started out pretty good, then after I chose a different Hospice than they recommended, things went down hill. Most of the aides were friendly and took good care of [name removed]. The admin staff were friendly at first. Then their attitude changed and they wouldn't even acknowledge me.

Just ok. Everyone has their own specific needs so it's hard to be everything to everyone. As always some people are very good and should be paid a lot more. Others are in the wrong line of work.

Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. After a month, even with daily visits, I noticed my dad's hygiene and room cleanliness were being neglected. His stay there was to include medication management, showers, bed changes, housekeeping, all 3 meals, and help with dressing and such. I would never recommend this place to anyone with loved ones.

I would say that the person who is going to live there needs to be pretty well off to afford it, but it's a nice place with good activities and food if you can comfortably afford it.

They been undergoing new management for the past two months. I'm giving them a try. We picked this community because of the recommendation from my mothers place.

I have recommended people consider The Avalon of Auburn Hills. The facility is nice, clean, and modern. The food was fair, it may be better for those that can go to the main dining room. My mom ate on her floor, in Memory Care dining, that had food brought up. The staff is mostly good. We visited often so, communication with the family was frequent. I would recommend soft flooring in the bathroom for patients who have a tendency to fall.

I feel like the prices quoted were very different than what was billed. But if it's affordable for someone it's a great place to have a family member live.

Our family had an in person tour and we just did not really care for it, it was very dark and not very welcoming

The communication between the staff, patients, families, nurse, and therapists was a bit lacking. They seemed to be short staffed most of the time. My loved one just didn't get the care ( one on one) that they needed. It was not a good fit.
