Had some good feelings about Sunrise and some not so sure feelings. Good = residents seemed happy - even one woman I met in open double who preferred to stay in her room; Staff also seemed friendly - especially the director and her assistant. She spent a LOT of time with me explaining the Sunrise philosophy; she did not rush and was very kind. "Not so sures" = dog/cat on premises (mom doesn't like pets and I am allergic to cats); not very clear on how they will toilet/manage incontinence - care staff seem minimal - not sure how often they check on residents - only saw them passing med.

The director was very professional and nice, showed me around, introduced me to staff, explained rooms set-up, showed me a calendar of events and activities, also provide memory activities, hands on activities, help with bathing and medications, discussed costs and requirements ($2900-$3100); max of 20 residents for assisted living and 20 residents for Alz./dementia, does not work with medicaid

Very nice place.

Stop by for an improptu visit with Mom, first impression that she like it. Initially she indicated that she would be willing to do a short term visit (2-3 days) to see if she would like it.

This was the first place I visited, so I was just getting acquainted with the kind of experience a resident could expect. I like the newness of the place and the fact that it is on one level. I don't know enough about the cost options.

I really liked the facility and it looked very beautiful. All of the staff members were wonderful and nice. This community is more geared towards people who are very active and like going to a bunch of activities. It’s very bright, vibrant, and active here. The only downside is that they had a sales pitch and they really pushed it. The woman who was giving me the tour was dressed very provocatively to drive her sales pitch. I would recommend this facility, but for the right people who are active.

Although my family and I loved the community itself we did not like the location of it at all. Its just a little to far to have my parents there and us away from them. If this dosent apply to you I would say go for it.

My loved one was here for a brief respite stay, and while there are a few things they do very well there are also way they could improve. To start with the good, the caregivers are wonderful, they are all very friendly and professional. However, it is a very costly facility, and I don't feel like they provided much in terms of services and amenities for the price. They also did not have much in the way of activities.

Nice place, need to actively monitor your loved ones level of care

My mom one is in Clairbridge, the memory care community. The managers I worked with were very accommodating. They bent over backwards to help us. The food is excellent. I visited three times before my mom moved in.

What we appreciated at Serene Gardens of Grand Blanc were the clean rooms and spaciousness. However, the improvements would involve hiring more staff to help facilitate care for patients with more serious mobility issues.

My dad was only there for 10 days! Staff was supposed to check on my dad every two hours and change him due to his incontinence unfortunately, they didn't change him all day. We did complain. They promised it would never happen again until it did a few more time. Staffing seems to be the biggest problem. The room was clean. And they did clean it. We had a studio in the studio was very sizable.

The staff are good but turnaround appears high. I think communication could be improved. I would recommend to others.

Room is nice and the facility is clean. Food leaves something to be desired, and activities could use some help....but overall, staff is pleasant and responsive if an issued is raised,.

Positive: The intake process was smooth and the main contacts[Name Removed] were pleasant to work with. Care staff were also nice and friendly. The facility was clean and seemed to offer a range of activities. Negative: it quickly became apparent [Name Removed] care needs were beyond what Serene could provide. She needed extra assistance eating, getting out of bed, etc. Several times we found her food in her room uneaten and her still in bed. I don't fault the staff for this. I think there were simply too few of them for the number of patients. Bottom line: it's a good place if your loved one is still relatively physically capable. Otherwise, the level of care isn't suitable.

I am unhappy with staff at the facility. I would tell others looking to choose a facility that has trained fully skilled at patient care and with memory care training if this is needed for their loved one. I would not recommend Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills.

Overall the place was nice and the people were very nice and genuine. They were slow to respond to the call button. Also promised to return and never came back. Switching over the medication service was a nightmare and no one at Serene understood the ins and outs of the process. The food smelled amazing but was not very nutritional. Lots of carb heavy meals and the vegetables were always overcooked. My mother was a diabetic and I was concerned with the amount of carbs she was eating at every meal. I never tasted the food myself because of my own dietary restrictions. They are understaffed which causes the workers to be stressed. Also the workers are hired off the street and facebook which means some lack the passion for this type of hard work. This creates turnover, understaffing, and overworked employees. But again everyone we interacted with was very nice and genuine. I would recommend Serene the place is very secure and I felt comfortable that my mother was safe and in good hands. They can work to improve the few concerns I expressed.
