Serene Gardens

This is the fourth - and BEST - facility that my Mom has lived in, in the past 12 months. The room set-up is as comfortable as anything one might experience at home: The bathroom has plenty of grab bars, the shower has a cushioned seat and easy access. Marble countertops in the kitchen! There is plenty of room throughout the apartment, for her wheelchair. The living room overlooks an enclosed yard with flowers, trees, a putting green and sidewalks to comfortably roll around on a warm day. My Mom misses cooking, so she met the chef ([name removed]? I think?) and he offered to cook her favorite recipes as long as she provides them to him. (I've no doubt there will be Mom's German Potato Salad on the menu one of these nights.) The food is so much better than in the other places she's been situated. Mom's level-of-care requires that she receives regular attention and she gets that! Caregivers have been attentive and kind. When I visit, we go to the Bistro, just off the lobby, where there is always free juice, tea, water or coffee, with fruit or cookies. In the winter, we will probably use the fireplace. Believe it or not, there is a movie theatre with free popcorn! There's a chapel with a piano - and sometimes, a singer comes to entertain there. Mom's friends have visited here and used the convenient elevator to ascend to the [location removed] dining area, which accommodates a crowd: They all felt well-treated. I observed that the staff is genuinely interested in keeping residents well cared-for and happy. It is as pleasant a place as home. Would definitely recommend!!!

My mom has lived at Prestige Pines for 3 years now and I couldn't be more happy about the care she receives. My family and I feel like the staff at Prestige Pines truly love my mom and know her. She is always up to something fun when I visit. When you walk in you are always greeted with a smile. I am proud to call Prestige Pines home for my mom and the staff my extended family.

The care givers and the care received was very good! All my needs were tended to sufficiently and in a timely manor. The employees seem happy in their work. The facility was kept very clean and organized. I think the meals could have been a little better.

Prestige Pointe is the perfect place for a loved-one with dementia. The care team is trained in "Montessori Moments in Time" life enrichment programming and the environment is smaller and less overwhelming than some of the assisted living communities out there. Most importantly, the residents are happy!

Brookdale is clean and friendly. They have a really good staff that is patient and kind. Their monthly coat is higher then similar facilities, but they have a good location for us.

We just moved my mother into this community yesterday, but based on what we say from move in and during our tour, the place seems like a very good fit! the set up is very comfortable, and everyone has been very friendly.

My mother-in-law has been there since August 2025 she has thrive there and they have taken very good care of her. They currently have a new cook and she is much happier with the food. The place is clean and the caretakers come in a timely manner when she pushes her button I have offered to to move my mother-in-law to some of the other places that we visited or to look for a new place, but she does not want to. She is comfortable where she is and she likes the activities and the people.

They have up to 5 activities residents can engage in throughout each day Monday-Friday. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful and my person there loves the food. They do a wonderful job decorating the public areas and the facility is always clean and bright. The rooms are a nice size and they take great care of the residents there.

The facility has a home-like feel unlike other places and is usually very clean. The staff is very friendly unless you have a disagreement, which has been rare so far. She is also under hospice care, so between the facility and hospice, I feel she is well cared for—better than the last two places she was in. There is only one administrator plus the aides, and I think they do a great job, at least from what I see and hear when I visit. All of these types of facilities have a big turnover in personnel, but the core staff here are very good. I’m never there at meal time, but she has gained weight since she has been there, whereas she lost weight at the last place. I can always tell if she likes her dinner because if she does, she will eat very little of the food I bring when I visit. She is confined to a wheelchair, so she gets very little exercise. Hospice provides a massage therapist, and the staff say they sometimes try to stand her up and take a few steps. Other than that, it’s mostly TV, as far as I know. This facility is “all inclusive,” so the monthly fee stays the same, unlike the last facility. My advice is to stay away from facilities that are investor-owned or have a fee-for-services scale. Other lessons I learned the hard way: tour several facilities before you get serious. Ask about the fees, then ask if those are all the fees. Take written notes of all the promises they make and the questions you ask. Take two copies when you go for the sign-in session and make them agree, date, and sign both copies—one for you and one for them. The sign-in process will take over an hour and includes a lot of documents. It would be in your best interest to take those documents to an attorney for review and explanation before signing.

I understand it is difficult to find good help, so I'm not sure if this is a Serene Gardens issue. Some of the aides are not as caring (more business like) with the residents. My mother in law complains that it takes them too long to respond to her requests (but I'm not sure if that is staff or if it is my mother in law). My mother in law came from a place that offered much more variety of activities. This needs improvement at Serene Gardens. This is an age in place facility so many of the residents may be older, but my mother in laws misses outings and activities. She feels like it is more of a nursing home atmosphere and less of an assisted living facility. Cleanliness and food quality are great.

I would say 4-5 on all they are great. The staff is so friendly, they treat my dad well. Yes I would recommend, they make my dad feel like family.

It's a beautiful place. staff is great and very compassionate. my mom really likes it there. she said the food is great. (the menus look pretty amazing)

The staff spent a lot of time talking to me and answered all of my questions without issues. The place seemed well run and had a homey feeling. The decor matched the style that many of the residents were comfortable with as it matched their generation's style and aesthetic. The rooms were a little small but that is not always a bad thing for residents in advanced age. Less room means less stuff and less effort to keep it all organized and working.

This applies to any memory care / assisted living facility. Choosing a place is like buying a used car. They will tell you anything they think you want to hear to make the sale, but you have to look under the hood. See a lot of places, make a short list and revisit those. Take someone you trust with you. Be realistic, they are not providing this service out of the goodness of their hearts, it's a business, a BIG one. Good luck.

There isn't really anything for them to improve on, we would recommend Americana Seniors of Davison to other families based on the experience so far.

Price. Cleanliness. New and modern. I would recommend to others.

The staff is mostly competent, with a few notable exceptions. She sometimes complains about the food, especially with the new cook. Her apartment is good seized, one of the largest in the facility. Generally things are clean and he meds are dispensed on time.

The staff was very caring. My dad loved the space he was allowed to roam around the house-like setting. It's very different from other memory care places that are just a single hallway

I am a current resident at Grandhaven Assisted Living in Lansing MI. In my time here, I have found the Staff great. I have also found the food from the kitchen great ?? ?? The facility and environment is friendly and great.

The food needs to be better and there's not enough activity to keep the residents engaged. A lot of the residents stay in their apartment after their meals.
