We had both of my grandparents at this facility and had a very bad experience at Greatwood. I kept trying to pay the deposit and they would say they would get it later. The director called me asking why I owed them 12,000 dollars and I told her we tried to pay them and they wouldn't accept it. I found out they were charging both my grandparents $5 a meal even though my grandma wasn't even eating and my grandpa did not sign up for food delivery. My grandpa had to go in the hospital and stayed a couple of days. When he tried to come back, they said that he was not allowed here. My grandma was not doing well at this point. The facility gave us 2 hours to move both of my grandparents out and I had to end up moving them into my living room. The staff members here were not friendly or understanding. I would not recommend this community to anyone.

Was less impressed with this community. There was no walking paths for the residents to get outside. The carpets in the public areas and hallways needs replacing, it’s pattern undulates even for us younger people, I can only imagine the disorientation for seniors.

An attractive facility with homey feel. No memory care units available now. Had one personal care room available, bedroom + living area with lots of windows being renovated $4400/mo. Only 12 units in memory care and observed most of memory care patients were pretty far advanced and not too alert. Whole facility required code to enter/leave. Nice garden area but not secured at the moment. [Removed] was very nice and seemed concerned with providing the best possible care.

Very showy with the holidays. Epic failure with the day to day care. Lots of flourish and big productions for Mother's day, Christmas, memorial day, etc. Great decorations. But the day to day, is not very good. The choices out there are limited and they take people other facilities might not but they are not patient centered. Not enough staff. Management is not affective, Activities are juvenile.

Educated, friendly director. Assisted living dining room depressing. Comments about housekeeping = excellent; food = meat tough;

We recently toured several retirement communities in the Sugar Land/Richmond area and were really hoping to decide on Greatwood due to location and ease of access for family. Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the outdated facility. The carpet was old and worn, and overall the place looked like not a dime had been spent on anything new in years, especially compared to other places. There were no residents socializing in common areas, and it just didn't seem to be a "happy place". When we arrived we couldn't find a parking place other than halfway around the building, so parking is an issue also.

It may have been the dreary weather, but we weren’t overly impressed. It seemed like more of a “facility” than a “community,” although the marketing director emphasized how much they’d do to work with us to make Mom comfortable and happy. Won’t make our short list.

Greatwood Senior Lifestyle community has gone downhill within the last year or two. The building and ventilation A/C is in dire need of maintenance, the interior need updating and a thorough clean (carpeting is worn and stained), the meals are poor, not nutritionally balanced, served with skimpy portions and not freshly made (food is constantly running out - very unprofessional and uncaring attitude in the kitchen. We would eat with parents and enjoy the meal but now we would never even try...very sad). Overall, the employees are pleasant and friendly but unguided by professionals in senior lifestyle management. Greatwood has strong resident committees but complaints are met with excuses, delays and no change. Management needs overhauling, kitchen needs overhauling, building needs overhauling. We are ashamed to bring visitors to this complex. The rents go up yearly and the service and commitment to residents go down. We would no longer recommend this facility to family or friends.

Greatwood Senior Livestyle has really deteriorated over the last year or so. The building was built in 2000-2001...and updates have been minimal. The carpet in the common areas is worn and stained, water leaks both inside and out, mold and mildew throughout ventilation, lack of proper maintenance, and sadly, the food now served is not nutritionally balanced. In fact, the food is hardly edible. The residents have complained about both the service and the meals but are constantly given excuses such as menu items being restricted by Senior Livestyle - if this is part of a "family-owned" community, I would hate to be family. As rental rates rise each year, the expectations should also. The rates do not match the poor quality of food and the lack of proper building maintenance. Please explore the many other newer communities in the Richmond and Sugar Land area before you decide...it will be well worth it.

We did not have a good experience with this community at all. We moved my loved one in during the holiday season, and it seems like she got completely lost in the shuffle. They seemed like they weren't expecting her at all, the place was not clean, nobody showed her around or introduced her to what they offer (and they still have not, a month later), and they just really did not leave a good first impression at all. They also have issues with their maintenance and cleaning staff. The level of maintenance is not acceptable, I have seen wheelchairs snag on plants that were allowed to grow into sidewalk paths. The cleaning staff have been very impersonal and unprofessional, and make Mom feel like a stranger in her own apartment when they come in to clean. This all came as a big shock because the community looks very nice, and their sales staff sold it very well. Unfortunately the quality did not live up at all to what they promised during the sales process.

This was a nice enough looking place, but all the staff I interacted with felt very "corporate". They seemed to busy to give me a tour and I the person who ended up giving me the tour was very rote and mechanical, not asking me any questions, just telling me what they provided.

My children and I thought this facility was too 'institutional' and as a result, we chose not to tour. Gina McGown was most gracious and understanding about our decision. I'm simply to active for a facility such as this.

Not too impressed. Management seems aggressive.

Two words--The Titanic. Care and management is so bad, several families are looking to move sooner than later. This place does not have their act together and it doesn't seem like the problems will be fixed any time soon. Not enough staff.

This is not a place you want to take your loved one. A few years ago, under different management, the place was lovely and had one of the best reputations in town. Then outfit call Provisional LIving came to manage it, and it is joke. Food is bad, dreadfully understaffed, miserable communicators, and now see veteran staff -- friends and caretakers for residents -- dismissed. The place has seen its best days years ago. Don't let the window dressing in front foyer fool you. Talk to residents, staff, have a meal and see for your self. It's all about money. Even the crumbling park lot with potholes that go untreated says a lot about the management company's priorities.

This facility has been on steady decline since my mom had been there. In the past 2 years, they have gone through multiple staff changes, losing great people. My mom moved to the assisted living side in January, paying a huge increase. But we are paying for a service we don't get. It's unfortunate that this facility doesn't see the importance in having appropriate staffing to meet the needs of their residents. It takes longer than an hour for assistance and hiring her button multiple times. The caregivers are extremely nice not when you have 2 working with all the residents, it's not enough. They should provide adequate response times. I'm so tired the inadequacies to the point of filing state complaints. It's very sad to the huge decline. The was a great place.

The day staff was wonderful. The night staff let my mom fall without checking on her for several hours. She laid on the floor for many hours. My brother found her in the early morning hours propped up in her bed but severely injured from her fall in the night. She was well and healthy on Friday and dead on Monday. NOT ONE GOOD RECOMMENDATION!

As far as Regal Estates, they have burned through 3 executive directors since January and I heard this week they finally fired their nurse (she really was bad) We filed 3 reports with the State because of ongoing medication errors. I can't recommend Regal to anyone. The food is bad, no activities, medication errors and poor leadership. I would definitely warn folks. It is a shame...

We moved my mom into Regal Estates approximately 18 months before she passed away on [date removed]. The care was good. Most were friendly. We did have problems with things coming up missing along the way including her wedding ring just before her death. From a business standpoint, however, Regal Estates is cold and greedy. They raised the rent by 10% after 6 months, asked for a $[removed] retainer to cover hurricane care & evacuation (They asked for this at the start of hurricane season with no previous indication that this would be required) and finally they collected a final month’s rent after my mom had already died. We have been unable to get them to take our calls or return them about this final payment collected. They don’t take or return any calls. They have shown no sympathy or offered any assistance during our time of loss. They are cold hearted and lack any compassion. It’s sad that people can be like this. Based on my experience, I would go elsewhere.

My brother stays here. They run out of food all the time (including ice cream which the guests love), and entrees can be cold. They serve pork all the time, if that's what you like. The service is often slow, with some people already eating dessert while others haven't even had their order taken. The servers can't answer basic questions about the food they serve. They ran out of ketchup for 5 days and served hamburgers during this time, yet never told anyone. It wasn't until the food arrived that this was "outed." They easily could have gone to Publix and bought some, but didn't. This is inexcusable, and an obvious sign of poor management. The latest health inspector's report gave them an 80. barely above a C. The report included finding a live roach on the main prep table. You can find this online. The list goes on and on. Any other traditional restaurant, run this way, would be out of business by now. The patio outback is small, and is the only place you can go outside.
