The food is wonderful and the help is great. However, somehow Mom's paper work fell through the cracks. Part of the problem was my DR. was in the process of moving. The other problem what paper was there never made it to the nurses' station.

They love to have nice and fun parties at Grand Villa.

The people are great.They try to help you in any way that is possible.

it is too early for a overal rating but so far it has been pretty good but there have been some slip ups on executing the p-3 level care I am paying for. Kathy and Marguerite have been very good but the followin through needs too be better on the helper end. Maqbey you can let them know the follow through is the important part

When I relocated my sister to Grand Villa East her furniture was not going to arrive for over a week. They set up her apartment with everything she needed, bed, linen, tables, chairs, lamps, etc. It was done willingly and attractively for as long as she needed it. They are in the midst of a major renovation process and they are making every effort that the residents are disturbed as little as possible. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing that I could say negatively is the lack of activities, but hopefully that will change as the renovation is completed. As an aside I was going to move her to a Homewood Residence and when I went to the closing they had a number of items that were additional to the tune of $1500.00 per month. At that point I walked away and went to Grand Villa , I am glad that I made the move for her. Thank you "A Place For Mom " and Amy Gaskin for your help

We were happy to get my wife's parents into this place and we believe that it is a quality place. The biggest drawback is the wait for the elevator when they go to meals. The elevator is often full when it stops and it stops anyway & goes to the first floor & then up to the higher floors and loads up and maybe bypasses the second floor two or more times before it stops with enough room for 2nd floor residents. We are moving them out and into another facility where they will have a first floor lanai. A room with a view and exit to the outdoors from their room. We feel that this place is a good option with may plusses.

This was the first place that we went to. It was way too big. They had a couple different room sizes, but it was so big that she would have been scared to death. Part of it was that a lot of people were having memory problems and the staff kept having to tell them where to go. The staff was all nice, though. They had about the same activities as everywhere else.

They were going to be going through a major overhaul and renovation and I didn't want my parents there for that. Other than that they seemed okay.

Overall, the move-in process felt a bit rushed, and some important things weren’t clearly explained. My grandmother wasn’t shown how to handle certain day-to-day things such as the laundry policy or how mail works. We were also given incorrect information about insurance coverage, which caused a lot of confusion and delays. Because of this, it took about three weeks before she was finally able to see a doctor. The outdoor areas around her building could also use a bit more attention and cleaning. The introductory staff we met were all very friendly and welcoming. However, the nursing staff tend to keep more to themselves. In terms of quality of care, I would currently rate it a 2, though I do think it may improve with better communication. Much of our frustration came from the incorrect insurance information. We were told we were covered and given the wrong details, which caused confusion with the doctor’s office and delayed her appointment until just this past week. I’ve also overheard some of the nurses speaking loudly about certain patients. There is a woman in my grandmother’s building who requires a lot of care and can be difficult, and I heard a couple of younger nurses complaining and gossiping about her and other residents. I’m not sure they realized how often I was around while helping my grandmother get settled. I believe they are young and may simply need more guidance on professionalism, empathy, and how they speak about patients and residents. I do plan to share this feedback with one of the main staff members so they can look into it and hopefully address these concerns.

Being multi floored seemed good at first, but it's not. My dad was not able to use the elevator by himself. He needs a one floor place. The cafeteria is very nice like a restaurant. It was too hard to get my dad to have his physical therapy. They never did do it. People were very kind.

Great staff. Friendly. Old building. Roaches. Do not recommend.

The staff should be nicer when calling , responding to families or situations quicker would be a big improvement , quality of Food and temperature of it needs improvement , maybe some Different activities , painting class, chair yoga class, Transportation needs to be improved. Either no driver or bus broken down. These are some of the frustrations our family has been dealing with. I know it's all about profits today and there is less help but maybe more pay would encourage better employees. I have been a caregiver at home for 30 years and the changes have seen make me unhappy. Other than my elderly mom I have a adult Son with severe special needs and I worry about him when I am no longer here. Not to say that it's a terrible facility ( I know you're probably trying ) but I am being honest about our families concerns.

Basically I had a good experience at Truewood. I did some research on the potential buyers and their operating policies which caused me to find another site. What I found became true when they took over.

Location is excellent. Staff is nice, although they've had a good bit of turnover, including 2 Directors in the year Mom has been there. Food is good, while it's available. Several months (they say) the order didn't arrive on time. Seems it's more of an ordering concern...they run out of condiments (ketchup/mayo) and cooking basics (onions). Nursing staff is very kind and Activities Director is wonderful...does her best to engage many residents in each activity! She's organized some really fun and enjoyable activities and is always asking the residents for input and suggestions!

I was so excited to find a place for my Mother who has early onset dementia. Grand Villa Delray East had such wonderful reviews and initially everyone was so nice. The personal service GVD provides is not so personal. For the most part the staff is very friendly but some of the workers are there just to work and don't really care. There just isn't enough caring staff on duty. The Wellness Center and Aids are nice but they limit their helpfulness. Don't try calling after 8pm, as no one will answer the phone or let you in when you want to check on your loved one. The "excellent" chef and food they tell you is so special on the tour is just glorified cafeteria food. They offer different tier levels of care and even though we pay for a 3rd tier (more reminders and more personal care) my mother receives the same care as level one tier. Wish we had investigated more before placing my mother there.

Care staff seem to be doing a very good job, had issues with admin returning calls and giving me information needed.

Our loved one lived at Grand Villa two separate times, the first experience was much better than the second. They had made changes in management while she was at home. The doctor at the facility was cruddy...took our loved one off insulin to give her just a pill. This had caused organ issues because her blood sugar stayed too high. Our loved one went to the ICU because of it and we moved her to another facility because they wouldn't do sliding scale insulin. Basically, you have to keep contact often with the facility weekly because things can change quickly with your family members, staff or the facility.

Medication is the big one. If you need help with that or your loved one has memory issue. It's not the place for them. You now have to line up in a hall and wait for your meds.

The place is nice enough, nothing special . Since my friend has been there, almost 2 years it has changed hands twice.

What I appreciated most was: the technical staff who dispensed the mediations and helped with miscellaneous needs. Most of them were excellent. I wish there had been more attention given to the residents. They sing Happy birthday during lunch for those who have a birthday and that is all. They should have a bulletin board and post pictures of the residents at the dances or other activities. They make no mention when someone is sick or was taken to the hospital. Etc. The nursing staff were mostly very nice but follow up to blood work or other tests was often overlooked. Also, we hated having the staff walk in anytime without notice. Plus, we encountered people coming in at 5 In the morning to take blood. They didn't know why only that it was requested. Where those results went, we had no idea knew.
