The physical space was depressing, very dated. Except for front of building views were into the windows of dated apartment buildings or parking lots. Balcony areas were shared between 2-3 residents and tight fit for any chairs.

Review of The Commons at Woodland Hills Alzheimer's / Memory Care in Woodland Hills, CA

Similar to my feelings about Courtyard Plaza, I did not like how this facility was for both assisted living and memory care. I prefer the facilities that are just for memory care so that the residents are able to move about more freely. The facility was beautiful and very clean, but the outside area was just a patio and there were no trees/plans

Not An Option

I thought that was horrible. It just seemed like more of a skilled nursing facility than anything else. It was dark and dreary and I didn't really care for the lady that I spoke with. I didn't like that she was saying negative things about other places. It would have been very depressing for my mother to go there. It was just not an option. I would never have taken my mother to see that place.

The memory care unit was very dark and dismal. All the furniture was old and beat up. Fresh paint and minor repairs greatly needed. Staff seemed unorganized and they never could get ahold of the person I was suppose to meet. They activity director who showed me around was very nice tho.

Truth about facility

The food IS discusting; and the meatloaf CAN AND DOES get you a fast trip to ICU. They hire people WITH NO TRAINING. There is mold throughout the building and the 3 owners don't care. The grandmother who fell outside was a friend of mine. The doors ARE alarmed to ring in Wellness, but the staff ignores them. They also run out of medications by not ordering in time; this includes insulin.

Horrible place

This place is awful. They never clean, patients are suffering and staff doesn't do enough to help, the employees are both rude and ignorant, they charge alot but its like living in prison..no TVs, no phones, no buttons for nurses for the residents in emergency if they need to reach them downstairs...it looks like they never clean, they are not compassionate with the residents...its like they just want money but dont care about the residents. Read the google reviews theres so many complaints...all these people complaining cant be lying! Yet instead of being professional about it and helping the situation improve the owners are ignorant and rant on arguing when people make complaints like big bullys! The owners need to take responsibility stop bullying people like big bullys and instead start fixing stuff here! Theres alot of problems here and thats ignorance on the owners and staff they cannot except their flaws and just fix the problems!!!!!!

Residents perspective

The bad reviews are true. Management is only concerned with the dollar while ignoring residents, condition of entire building, safety hazards, its staff etc.The caregivers do the best they can, even though they are understaffed. I have seen them work multiple shifts, still caring about the residents. Management could learn something from them. Mold, roof leaks, filth, rodents, outside deck is falling apart, safety issues not being addressed.Focus is all put on the Rebranding. You can rename a bucket full of crap, still going to be crap with a different name. 30yrs in the construction trade I can see the repairs needed and they are costly.Alot has to be done to bring building up to code. They only focus on cosmetics.Repairs needed don't jive with there overhead. Can't believe this place is still open.Ive seen schools shut down for less untill repairs were made. They hide behind Title 22. I am currently educating myself on Title 22.

Review for Lakewood Park Manor

They need a better staff hiring practice, and more staff. I am not happy with the place. They require 24 hour notice for visits and you can only visit for 30 mins. The rooms are dirty. The staff can be rude at times. The social worker won't return calls unless it's about money. My loved one is left in bed all day and there isn't much supervision.

Failure as a business of care

[date removed] 8pm my father fell off his chair on to the floor. No one came to help despite calling all available numbers for the facility by 7:30 am 6-13-22 hes still on the floor. They dont feed him half the time. They dont give him showers for months at a time. If you love your family dont bring them here.

Impressed.....at first.

We almost placed out stepfather here at Villa De Anza a couple of months ago. He ended up finding a mobile home for himself through his church. Meanwhile, Villa De Anza has given me the absolute runaround regarding the $1700 deposit check that we wrote them. [name removed], who is the head of sales, has ignored us completely. So glad we didn't end up placing our family member here with people like this running the operation.

Apathetic

My parent had been a resident at Villa De Anza for 4 years. During 2020 he and the other residents were separated due to COVID but he still got it. The staff were then afraid of getting it so they would not respond to his calls for help to the toilet, need of food/water or general assistance. He died. It's not just that they were afraid but that they didn't care. They were more interested in our family cleaning out his room to make way for another victim.

BEWARE OF ANNUAL RENT INCREASES

We moved my mother in law into the facility in April 2019. At the time of contract signing, we were told that typical annual increases are between 5-7%. After 7 months there, we received notice that her rent would increase by 15.5% as of January 2020. Initially, my mother in law was happy there, and was able to partake in excursions since their van accommodated motorized chairs. The van broke down. Then, there was a change in ownership from Brookdale to Villa de Anza. While Villa de Anza does have a transport van, it does not accommodate motorized chairs. I contacted management about this issue, my email was ignored. It seems that once the residential agreement is signed, management couldn’t care less about the concerns of their elderly residents. I would not recommend moving your loved ones into this facility, especially if your loved one is living on a budget. A 15.5% annual increase is simply outrageous.

Not happy with this place at all!!

My mother was recently in this community for a short period of time and I would not recommend this place to anyone. When I had initially sat down with management they had promised me a bundle of things especially the part that my mother would receive her medicine on time. That was not the case at all and I ended up having to remove her from the facility because of it. She never got her medication on time and the doctor even changed a few things with out my knowledge that ended up making her out of it. They never communicated with me about what was honestly going on there when I was away and I was not happy about that. I would not trust these people to watch my dog.

Bad waitress

I visited my mother during her dinner time. The waitresses seemed over worked and stressed . (Can't blame them) but they maintained a smile. However one waitress ( her name is Jessica) had a very foul mouth. I over heard her making rude comments about some of the residents. She has a very "hood rat " look to her. Head half shaven and not dressed like the other waitresses. She gives the place a very in professional look. She was rude and I even saw her flip off the Waitress named margarita everytime she walked past her.

I am truly disappointed with the Commons. it went from a family oriented home to a cold place to institutionalize your loved one. The staff and occupants have a large turnover rate. The only time you'll see the management is when they hike up their rates of their long term tenants. Like so many other families, I now have to find new housing for my parent after 5 years.
