The independent living units were 2-story units above the garages. I am trying to decrease the number of stairs and this would actually add an additional set of stairs. Unless my needs/desires change this would not be appropriate.

Consider that they do have activities that your loved one will want to do. Make sure your loved one is really at the assisted living level before picking a community. The food was okay. There has always been enough parking.

Large bedroom type. No cooking.

Strange layout, very open like a giant cafeteria

I visit a family friend here 3-4 times a month. She’s been here for 3 years. She preferred when it was run by Avamere , it has been changed to Ridgeline. Positive reviews online are from when it was Avamere. The plus points are new maintenance, fixed everything that had been broken for the past year. My friend said the activities were really good up until recently when there seem to be cuts and the trips are not happening like in the past. The food is definitely not what the website promises, it’s like cafeteria food. I eat with her when I visit. The serving staff is hit and miss. Housekeeping is good, she gets her room cleaned weekly, common areas are clean. She feels that upper management is not approachable or willing to help her with any concerns. She has to call me for any problems. Front desk is either young and clueless or old and rude. She would like to move but loves her friends.

A new person had just started running the place. We didn't meet her on our tour. Everyone was wonderful that we met. Within a month, all of those people quit. Service was nothing like we were assured by the staff we met. The chef fed us when we were on our tour. Hot, fresh, tasted great. Very impressed. If we had toured after the turn over, we would not have signed our mom up.

Spouse was only there for 2 weeks so I don’t really feel I had enough time to say. He did not eat or any activity he fell out of his wheelchair then went to hospital the next day he was not right but to be fair this was not his first nursing home he passed way shortly after !

Poor lighting inside my mother in law room. Fecal was smeared on a leather chair outside her door and it took a week before they cleaned it up, although I reported it immediately. Some of nursing staff more interested in there phone than caring for residents. Some staff differently there should not be caring for people.

The location of The Ridge is a good one as it is close to public transportation, grocery shopping, banks and restaurants. Short distance to library, hospital clinics and Community College.

Since they changed management companies and went away from Anthem, their level of service has taken a huge decline! Extremely poor communication! Rude and snotty staff members! Truly, their nursing staff and director do not know their head from their butt! Their new executive director came from Minot, ND, which is clear since she truly is in over her head trying to run a senior facility in a large suburb. Her communication skills are virtually none. When she does communicate, she doesn't listen to anything said to her, but then gets snide when challenged about our concerns.

It all falls on management- poorly managed

Alder Bay provides meals for the residents; however, they do the bare minimum of care and housekeeping. The staff communication is poor with the family and we have to make several follow up requests to get our questions answered. There are three meals provided to the residents. The community will occasionally accommodate the resident's requests.

I would tell others that the food was really not even edible. It is for older residents and they gave them things like whole sized brussel sprouts and stale cake. The taste of the food was horrible and there was not much variety, they would give them the same things over and over again. They said it was chef prepared food so we were shocked and disappointed in that. The administrative staff did not visit the residents, my mom laid dying for 3 weeks and she did not visit her even once. They were just sold and we were hoping for new administrative staff and a chef but that has not changed yet. Overall I would not recommend them to others.

I would tell others that due to my loved one being sick; the community made me take my loved one to the hospital instead of them calling for assistance. Due to this we ended up moving my loved one out of the community and they have been thriving since.

My mom has been there it will be a year in March she is on hospice and on her death bed and they want to raise the room rent on her. Are you kidding me? Suck all the money out before a person passes away. This is just wrong in so many ways.

Poor management which is reflected in the turnover of staff. The rooms are very empty right now. Also, a representation of poor management. Most of the staff are very kind and considerate and stay because of the residents. There is a reason Avamere at Berry Park is the cheapest independent living center in Oregon City.

Poor communication and when you ask questions the staff isn't always truthful. In the one year my mom has been there the administrative staff has completely turned over and the nursing staff has had turnover. I have also witnessed patients not having needs addressed promptly. The only nice thing I can say is the food is good and the rooms are nice.

This facility was very nice when it opened. However, in the last year or so, after a management shake-up, it has devolved into little more than an old folks warehouse. Dirty dishes/glasses not removed from residents' rooms, dust accumulating on, and for a bonus a nice round of norovirus last winter. Prescribed nutritional supplements were sometimes given, sometimes forgotten. Once plentiful and diverse activities devolved into the occasional bingo game or just putting everyone in front of the TV at night. Monthly cost here is pretty good. But if you can afford another 10%, there are much better options in the area.

It was not too bad from what I noticed on my tour. It is brand new and they were half full of residents. We did not want my loved one to go through the growing pains with the company, The residents were more active than my loved one. It is a nice facility and I liked the way it was set up.

Always short staffed. No RN on weekends or overnights. We were promised things that later new admin said was not acceptable . Ex- if our mom could stay in same room once she ran out of money and had to go on senior waiver . Mom was given someone else's meds on Thanksgiving day and did not call to let POA know. They put her on " happy pills" on weekends there were 2 staff people . For over 60 people. Staff accepted our drop off check for over [amount removed] and miss placed the check never to be found ! We had stopped by to drop check off on way out of town for vacation . We moved mom out . That's just for starters.
