We liked Arbor Landing. It was a little expensive plus several additions would cost more. We would need to sign up for waiting list. Beautiful place.

They don't seem to be too conscientious there. They aren't very attentive or responsive, or they haven't . I've had to hire a service to come in to help, it's costing me a lot of extra money. The carpet definitely needs to be cleaned, it's been dirty since I first saw it. The room is kept clean enough, and the people seem to be pretty friendly, and have a good attitude.

My mom has been here only a week so still don't know if this is the right place for her. She has the start of dimentia and has already had a trip to the ER. We will determine if she needs a more skilled nursing facility in the next month or so.

There is not enough staff and the staff is not friendly and caring. Its not good to care for memory care patients unless they have no medical concerns.

Not the facility you want if your loved one is exhibiting signs of aggression. They are not trained to deal with aggressive patients. The food is mostly prepackaged proteins and lunches were only a typical cold cut sandwich. No real options for low sodium diets.

Mom came to AR in [date removed] knowing that soon she would need more care. We took the tour & were told that they were equipped to handle the transition. About 2 months in mom suffered a minor stroke, was hospitalized, followed by rehab to regain strength. As the time neared for her to return home, we called AR & said that we believed it was time to move mom to Assisted Living. Fortunately they had a bed on that side & we were happy. Nurse evaluated & said mom would fall between level 2 & 3 for care. She was assigned a room & all was well. On moving day as we had finished bringing mom's things from her old unit to her new assisted living unit, we were pulled aside by management & told quite abruptly that they did not feel that mom should stay. They listed a few "issues" they saw. All listed under their levels of care. No discussion, no compassion. Turns out, they simply aren't properly staffed for assisted living. Terrible bait & switch & extremely stressful when support was needed most

This is not a very secure facility as they don't keep a close watch on the residents. Residents can easily walk outside and away without anyone ever noticing and this happens frequently. They fail to take responsibility for their lack of actions and their lack of staff to fully keep an eye on staff members. Instead they attempt to put the blame else where such as the resident. They are also more concerned with getting as much money as possible and will over assess a resident actual status just so they get more money. The biggest complain residence have is the food and how slow serving of the food takes.

The person that took us on tour was nice. They offer transportation and an enclosed courtyard. I was not impressed with this community when I visited. There was an odor when I walked into the community. I did not think this community would work for my loved one.

Terrible experience in memory care not enough staff members for 30+ people. It has 5 stars and that it not even accurate. Staff only wants individuals that come there to wear depends because they only let them go to the bathroom. They only have certain times during the day that they allow them to go to the bathroom to go change them if a patient does not wear depends then they tell them if they can't do it by themselves that they have to wait until it is a certain time.

My aunt was a type one diabetic and they asked her to leave after 2 months without refunding any portion of the community fee. I felt that was unfair as she had diabetes when she moved in and they were confident they could care for her.

They collected their community fee, accepted my Aunt with type 1 diabetes and then refused to take her back after she went to the hospital. She stayed at the facility less than 90 days and they refuse to return any of the [fee removed] community fee.

I remember when I worked there. The food was not that great. The staff was rude and most importantly the bosses would short your check and burn you out with work. They didn’t care about the care if the residents nor staff. As long as the rooms were filled up so they could drive their nice cars and live in their big ol houses. Nowhere is perfect but this place had many faults that people don’t see.

Terrible experience! I'd give zero stars if I could. We moved my mother into independent living with the idea she would move to assisted living when needed. This was CLEARLY communicated when we signed the papers. About a month in my mother needed to move into AL and was evaluated by their nurse who recommended a Level 2 care (not the highest level) and assigned a unit. We arrived at Arbor Ridge and moved all of my mother's belongings out of her independent living studio into her new AL unit. As we were done moving her things, they informed us she couldn't be there. Their website states: " Rather than hopscotching from one senior living community to another as your loved one’s needs change, Arbor Ridge is bringing three distinct and affordable lifestyle options under one roof. " Not true. My mother was forced out because they can't provide care that they advertise in their own marketing materials. Management was rude, unprofessional, cruel and uncaring.

My father was a resident here from [dates removed] Unfortunately as a result of an incident with another resident he was pushed down and received severe head trauma. He passed in February. We hold no ill will toward the other resident but the response of the facility after the incident and since then has been atrocious. After my father was taken away by EMS they never followed up to ask how he was, and repeated follow ups to obtain refunds for money already paid have been met with mostly silence. We have also since learned from family members of other residents that they have allowed residents of the Memory Care Unit to escape the facility on multiple occasions without notifying the family. While my father was a resident the overall care by the staff and responsiveness to our family was almost nonexistent. Anytime that we visited they acted like we were a burden whenever we had questions about my father‘s well-being. I would never recommend this facility to anyone.

If you are considering Horizons Memory Care at Arbor Landing Hampstead, NC for your loved one PLEASE READ. Horizons kicked my mom out, who was under hospice care, because she could not stand, pivot, or assist with a transfer. She was in such bad shape the only place that would take her was a nursing home 1 hour away from the closest relative. She died 16 days later. We were told numerous times this is an “age in place facility and she could stay there until the end of life.” This was a lie. Horizons is a one person assist facility with no equipment to move people who forget how to walk or are in such bad shape they can’t. Their on-call nurse can come in anytime and deem “their care level has changed” and kick them out. They are also protected by NC laws. Many memory care facilities have two person assist and have the equipment and desire to help Alzheimer’s residents all the way through to the end. Moving mom was hard on her and contributed to her quick decline and death. Shameful.

This facility was previously owned by Alterra. An employee dragged my mother in law to her bed (she had Alzheimer’s). Broke her hip and my MIL died within the year. We were not given access to police records until we hired an attorney. Which is how we found out what happened. Before we could sue, Alterra filed BK and the facility was reincarnated as Falls River Village.

I wouldn't recommend Falls River Court to others for their loved one. My loved one was there starting in the middle of a month in the winter. The family would have to send an email for any questions or requests we had, as they wouldn't speak to us in person. The head nurse would ignore the family whenever we would visit. One day I received a phone call about my loved one and they stated my loved one fell in the community. In actual reality my loved one was pushed down by another resident. My loved one ended up dying because of a result of this incident. The community is refusing to communicate any further about giving us a refund due to our experience. The family has documentation about the incident in the community and about our loved one being pushed in writing by the hospital. The community will not acknowledge this incident and how they plan to fix this in the future.

I would not recommend Falls River Court. From the moment we moved my Dad there ([date removed]) we were disappointed. My Dad walked with a walker before he arrived there. He was put in a wheelchair at arrival and kept in one until we moved him out [date removed]. He did have PT while there but we were told he was at baseline and they couldn't help him any further. The Director of Nursing (not longer with FRC) was a fan of sedation. If you keep the residents sedated and in wheelchairs they are less a "problem". We were told that my Dad was agitated a lot. They wanted to keep him medicated. Many times there is not enough staff to be able to care for the residents safely. On Christmas Day evening there was one med tech for 36 residents. This happened frequently. We have since moved my Dad to a smaller residential home. He is one of 6 residents. He has been taken off most of the medication that he was on while at FRC. We've been told numerous times that he is always happy and has not been agitated one time. We are so thankful to God for helping us to find the new place and would highly recommend it to anyone. While there are several staff members at FRC that are kind and loving to the residents it just wasn't / isn't a good place for Dad.
