The apartment was far away. For her to be motivated just to go to the dining room was a long walk. It was like living in an apartment complex and walking 1/8 mile to the dining room. It was kind of depressing, not bright. There were gaps between the doors of probably an inch, and in the closet I saw rust. Some corridors did not have a pleasant odor. By the pool, the sidewalk wasn't level. Little things, they don't seem like a big deal individually but all together it didn't look well maintained. It had a very small dining room, short dining hours, and I ate there and had heartburn the rest of the day! I asked how long most of the staff had worked there, and I never got a straight answer. I didn't see any staff and resident interaction, but you wouldn't based on the distance between everything.

Not Enough Caregivers

We took my mother out of here. We did not like the situation in the dementia cottage where she was. My mother was sicker than we realized she was. We didn't think there were enough caregivers there. The first cottage was nice. I forget what the first cottage was that we had her in but there was 1 caregiver for 16 people and they were more independent and there was a floating nurse. We put her in the dementia cottage because she was really sick and we though she would get better with more attention. It's a beautiful facility but my mom was not getting focused attention. It didn't seem like it was being overseen really well like once when my sibilings went to visit there was a stranger in her bed and she was in another room. We ended up bringing her home and she's doing a lot better.

Think twice and do your research

My Mother is a Hospice Resident at Arden Courts in Yardley. As a result of two devastating in one eight (8) hour period, my Mother was finally admitted to St. Mary's Hospital with a concussion, brain bleed, fractured wrist (which I complained about the bruising and she was refused treatment), fractured nose and bruised over most of her body. She was placed on a feeding tube and released back to Arden Courts with Hospice Care. She gained 3 lbs in a week and then lost 7 lbs in one month. While this may be normal, I was told by a care giver that my Mom was eating her dinner with her fingers.. The caregiver told me that "whatever works"! The food was macaroni salad. Her wash is disappearing and even with me doing her wash, I find other residents clothing in my Mother's room in her closet. I personally feel that the nursing staff does only what they absolutely need to do. This is my personal recent experience of this facility. Arden Court is owned by Manor Care in Ohio. Research the company and then Arden Courts who employed a caregiver who was arrested for abuse in I believe 2015. She was caught on a Nanny cam. The troubling question, why wasn't the staff noticing the abuse. Please read the article on the internet. My suggestion is a Nanny Cam in the room, I would post my pictures, but I do not know how,

I toured at Linden Village, and overall, I was not impressed with them. There didn't seem to be a very good caregiver to resident ratio here, and I didn't like that there was a smell about the community. Overall, I don't think it would have made the best fit for my loved one.

BETTER ASK THIS QUESTION

US Memory Care facility at Louetta Road. Houston, Texas is now about one year old. Compared to similar facilities in the area, USMC has significantly less to offer residents in the way of physical and mental activities that are so vital to the well being of the residents. Of primary concern, however, has been the totally inadequate (and sometimes non-existent) nursing staff. One question that should be asked by those looking for a home for their loved one is this: Will my loved one be told to leave the facility (as many residents have experienced) because USMC could no longer meet their needs? This action on the part of USMC reflects their inability to deal with the changing needs of dementia/Alzheimer's patients. It also underscores the lack of background/education of management to understand the progression of the disease. All of this leads USMC to demand that certain residents leave their care.

USMC Top Level Management Sit Up & Listen!

April 26, 2015. Remains to be seen and I don't really know how to rate them at the moment. Right now I'm torn about USMC Vintage. They fired the Executive Director then another employee and then the Sales Director. We followed the ED and the SD to USMC, so this is quite disheartening. The Sales Director was especially AWESOME! Dementia and Alzheimer's family members thrive on continuity. We know my mother is stressed because she is picking at her face, hands, and arms again, which she hasn't done in a long time. Leaves big sores that take forever to heal because she won't leave them alone. I heard that the new Executive Director told a resident's family member that if they don't like something they can move somewhere else. Move a dementia or Alzheimer's person somewhere else? This is hard enough and we've moved our mother once already, and that is not an easy option. Top level management needs to intervene and meet with family members MINUS the new ED and SD. We're paying their salaries, so we deserve some accountability and communication. We have questions that need to be answered and not by newly employed facility management.

Just not a good experience.

They were not good, their staff could be a little more educated. They had her diaper on backwards. They are supposed to keep the laundry and I would find her with other peoples clothes. The food was not good here, it was frozen prepackaged and reheated, you could tell. They had her medications wrong, they would say one thing and do another. Just not a good experience.

Arden Courts Old Orchard

Arden Courts, as I ended that last conversation, I would not put my dog there. I was very disappointed with them when I first was interviewed by them and was listening to their their views on why we should bring [Name Removed] there and it was OK of course when we first got there, but as time went on, it was awful. He wasn't changed. He was always black and blue. He was very sad and the care there even when I saw them ignoring other residents always on the phone sometimes I would have to tell them this lady needs help just awful. I wouldn't put my dog there. That's all I have to say. The sad part Is they knew I was there every day all the time I even had the extra girls there for extra eyes on him and they still manage to be non-caring.

Would not recommend

It is hard to put that into words based on our experience. I've never seen a place so poorly run. If I were to bullet point some things to improve on: -Increase training of staff -Reduce amount of agency staff and nurses -Meet daily care needs -Leadership -Increase oversight of staff -Restrict personal devices -Accountability -Follow through on action items -Implement proper preventive care

Review for Arden Courts Warminster, A Memory Care Community

The care they gave my sister was just fine, but two weeks after moving her in, they recommended putting her under hospice care. They contracted out her care to a organization that called itself various names but mostly Affinity or St. Mary, and their care was ok, but their business practices were horrendous. She wasn't even under hospice care for 24 hours when a supposed pastor called to ask if we had selected a funeral director to handle her arrangements. They didn't even give us time to wrap our heads around the fact that my sister was failing so quickly and I got the impression they were trying to take advantage of our vulnerability to try to talk us into using a funeral director that they were going to recommend because they would get some type of kick back. Fortunately, my cousin is a retired funeral director, that I knew would recommend someone reputable, so I just told them it would be taken care of when it was needed and gave them my cousin's name, which the pastor looked up while we were still on the phone and read me the name and address of my cousin's funeral home, which is now operated by his former partner, so I could verify that information. Then, after just two weeks in hospice care my sister passed away. I was away in South Carolina, when I got a call in the middle of the night, that my sister had passed, which was fine. She even said my brother-in-law to come to Ardern Courts immediately to say goodbye, but I told her I didn't want him called because he is 85 years old and I didn't want him trying to drive there in the middle of the night by himself. But the same woman that notified me, [name removed] from Arden Courts, called back just a half hour later to ask when the funeral director would be there to collect the body, even though it was the middle of the night and I had told her I was in South Carolina the first time she called. I asked her what was the rush and she said they could only hold the body for so long by law. I told her that I though what she was doing was horrible and they could surely hold my sister until morning and she insisted that arrangements had to be made right away. I hung up on her and haven't heard from them since, which was fine with me. I contacted my cousin and he arranged for a funeral director to pick up the body as soon as possible. I then called my daughter to ask her to go and be with her uncle and let him know that his wife had passed and he could go to see her if he wanted to . Again, my rating isn't due to the level of care she received, just Arden Courts and Affinity's lack of understanding what a stressful time this was. When they brought in Affinity to provide her hospice care, they immediately ordered a hospital bed and table and a new wheelchair for her, probably because they know Medicare would pay for it. They have yet to contact me about what to do with my sister's clothing and personal things, and the items I just mentioned, but that is fine. I'd rather not have any further dealings with them. I would definitely never recommend Affinity to anyone. The staff, other than [name removed] , was very friendly. Friendliness - 5 for all but [name removed] from Arden Courts - she didn't give me her title there. My sister appeared to be well taken care of by both Arden Courts staff and the Affinity staff for the month that she was there. They did make sure she was gotten out of bed and cleaned and dressed every day and taken to a common room with other residents, even though you usually just sat there and fell and sleep and barely spoke to anyone but her husband when he came to visit. Aside from [name removed] , the only other complaint was that while I was there one day, a young man came to give my sister her lunch. She was only willing to eat soft foods at that point, so he had three piles of something on a plate. As he gave her a spoonful of each one she made a face to show she obviously didn't like the taste. When he went back to try another mouthful of the first item, she spit it out. I asked my sister if she would like me have GrubHub bring her a milkshake since it was apparent she didn't like whatever it was he was trying to feed her. He just chuckled and walked away. A few minutes later, the woman I first spoke to when my brother-in-law and I went to take a look at Arden Courts, came into the room and asked how things were going, and I told her what had just happened and she told me she would make sure my sister got a milkshake. I had to leave at that point, so I'm not sure if she ever actually got one, but I was glad the Administrator, [name removed] , took the time to come and ask how things were going and immediately understood my concern that my sister wasn't offered an alternative to what was obviously food she did not like. Food/dining - For reasons stated above. My sister barely spoke by the time she went to Arden Courts, so this one incident is the only indication I had as to the quality/taste of the food. Activities - While they did have activities and I saw that other residents were taken to the activity room daily, my sister's cognitive decline prevented her for doing anything other than sitting in her wheelchair. Most of the time it was a chore just to get her to open her eyes. Value for cost - Based on the care she was given and that they did make every effort to keep her from spending her days in bed, I think what we were charged was reasonable. It did cost more than the prior Memory Care facility that my sister was in, but is was apparent that the level of care she received at Arden Courts was significantly better.

Horrible experience

This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made as an only child. I had to come to the realization that I can no longer care for my mom. She needed to move into a memory care facility. I needed to find a community that she will be well taken care of and safe. Arden Courts is it. [name removed] was the first person I met at Arden Court. She’s very informative and understanding. The front staff are always welcoming and friendly. The caregivers are nice and patient with the residents. The nurses are extremely helpful and will address questions/concerns immediately. The entire staff treats my mom as well my family and friends like we are all family. I’m very happy with my choice in choosing Arden Court….. UPDATE [date removed] I’m very heartbroken that I left my mom in when things began to look different. My mom has been a resident of Arden Court for approximately 7 months. The last few months there has been significant changes that were not communicated with families. As of [date removed] I moved my mom

Review for Arden Courts Farmington, A Memory Care Community

It's under staffed. Poor attitude from senior management. I was told "it's assisted living" although the sign says "memory care"

Nightmare

Don't put a loved one in SpringHouse! They can improve by doing the following: Get more help for a better patient/ helper ratio. Be aware of patient needs. Give out meds and OTC pills as requested from Dr. Check that patient's call necklace works!!!!!

Never send a loved one here.

More staff. Change all of the administration staff. Train staff on how to care for and communicate with people with dementia. The staff had no idea how to properly give my mom her medications and how to care for her.
