Clean facility. Secured entry, which I liked. Bedroom was small for the price. Staff was friendly. Director was nice. But it didn’t have that ‘warm & friendly’ feel to it. A little too stuffy & proper for my taste. But I’m sure it’s lovable to it’s inhabitants. My loved one would be well taken care of at this place. But I don’t think he’d fit in here.

Be Cautious

Our initial meetings at Springhouse were wonderful. We pointed out a number of things that were important to us and were promised all these were in the works over the coming months. The staff is very friendly and, I am sorry to say, we drank the cool-aide. We are well into our second year of residency here and things have gotten worse rather than better. The Community spaces are sad. Old, dirty furniture, dirty outside seating area, huge bleach stains in carpeting, which is split and sewn in high walkway areas. Outside shutters are bleached out. The food has gone from bad to worse. Flavorless, same repetative menu with no thought. Last nights' main entree: speghetti & meatballs in BROWN gravy! On the plus side --- The nursing staff, caregivers and med techs are wonderful. They are kind, caring and competent. We could not be more pleased with them. The staff is curteous and polite. The residents are wonderful. They lift up each other in bad times and celebrate the good times they enjoy together. It's a joy to get to know them! Essentially, what you see when you get there is what will always be. By all means, eat a few dinners in the dining room before making a move here. If a tasty, well balanced diet is important to you, this might not be your best choice.

Shared Medical Info

I found that they were not able to handle my husband's more difficult behavioral aspects of dementia without medicating him and then to continually increase dosages instead of effectively redirecting him. They do offer activities for the patients, but seem to expect the patients to know when to show up for the activities, even though this is a memory care facility. Staff does not strictly acknowledge a patient's right to medical record privacy. Nice place for patients in the early stages of dementia or in the late stages, but if your SO is in the unpredictable, challenging middle stages, be prepared for the 30 day notice!

I toured here when I was looking for a place for my Aunt and everything was going great. I was going to have her stay there for a bit but they backed out on me last minute. The facility was kept pretty clean but the building itself was set up kind of weird. It was like four square corners with maybe 10 rooms per square. They talked about the different activities that they would provide, balloon toss and painting being a few. I would’ve loved for my Aunt to go here but they backed out last minute and didn’t give me an explanation why.

Not going as planned

We are working on some issues that are occurring at the Arden Courts of Warminster. We were led to believe they would provide quality care for my mom but that is not happening. After the fourth fall and taking her to ER myself, I am looking into Plan B. I have already called a meeting between the care manager, my lawyer, my brother and myself to try and get an understanding of what they were doing to provide consistent care for my mom. I've pointed out that the staff and the directors have little or no communication and there does not seem to be any accountability or consequences when the care is not being provided to the residents. I cannot get a solid answer from one person to the next. Questions regarding whether she is eating properly and how to get her to stop losing weight, why she is falling, why is she not being watched and allowed into another area not designated for her to be in, why aren't her medications being logged in consistently for the next shift of staff members to know what is going on when they arrive on the scene. Because of unforeseen circumstances, I had to place my mom quickly, now it's Plan B.

My tour of this community was decent. When I first arrived for my appointment, I asked for the person who was suppose to give me to the tour. For 45 minutes I waited for someone to come give me the tour. Also we toured the wrong side of the community at first. After the tour was done the sales lady was very pushy. She didn't allow us time to think about our decision.

Lack of Care

My mother is doing okay since her move to this community, but I do have some concerns. She has had quite a few bad falls. The staff is okay, but I do think they need to hire more care givers. Her personal care could be better, they only bath her twice a week. They do a good job with the cleanliness of the community for the most part. The meals okay, and she has gotten involved in some of the activities they offer. Overall due to the lack of caring my mother has received, this is not a community I would recommend.

Better Care

This community has really nice staff members. I am not happy with the care that has been given here. is The staff do not pay attention to the residents that are able to walk around. They have not given her the attention that is needed. The community needs more staff. It is clean and maintained. They have alot of activities. I would suggest families see for themselves if this is a community for a family member.

Arden Courts of Glen Ellyn is a very cute place. I really liked the layout of the community. The staff were friendly and addressed all of my concerns about respite care. This community would be best suited for higher levels of memory care. The community could do a better job with managing odors.

Dissatisfied

We just moved my mother out of Linden Village for several reasons. First of all, her clothing were disappearing, even though she had her name in all of her clothing. I would go to visit her and see other residents walking around wearing my mother's clothing. Often she had clothing in her own closet that clearly had other residents names on them. My mother had all her shoes and slippers disappear, the only pair she had left were the ones on her feet. The residents were left to wonder from room to room. I would find other residents laying in my mother's bed and after getting them up found they had peed in her bed. Just recently they took in a resident that clearly does not belong in that facility, he had violet outburst. I personally witnessed him choking another female resident! I find the nursing staff to be unfriendly and uncaring. I had requested a call from the medical director on several different occasions, but she never returns calls!! The only good thing i have to say, is that 99% of the aides are extremely nice, friendly and caring.

Not very happy

I am not very happy with Arden Court. Many of the staff are friendly and they try to keep residents involved in daily acttivities in the community center BUT if your relative is not in that state of mind they put them in bed and shut the door. This is also true after dinner when nothing is going on. My fahter's room has not been cleaned in weeks - it is disgusting particularly his bathroom. His laundry is thrown into a pile on a chiar - much of it isn't even his - like a woman's nightgown and a tiny sweater. Once they get you in and signed - with a move in fee of $2,500 - there is no interaction with the front office. My father is in hospice care now and there is annimoisty between the hospice staff and the facility staff and they do not follow his hospice protocol. Recently residents have been displaced while unnecessary remodeling has been done in the kitchen - new cabinets and flooring and wallpaper - what a waste. Then the rent went up to $6,000 a month. Not sure what is better out there. I am afraid to complain in case of retaliation by the staff to my father.

BEWARE !!!

BEWARE !!!! Although this facility looks beautiful, be sure you look beyond the façade. Be sure you FULLY understand the commitment they are selling. From a care standpoint, you will appreciate the Care Givers. There is a never ending shortage of Care Givers from shift to shift. From a managerial and supervisory standpoint, be sure to look for the obvious selling points. The Executive Director is one who will tell you what you want to hear until your loved one "becomes a problem". A basic understanding of the disease is certainly lacking. I personally know of three families who were given a 30 day notice to find another place as their loved one's dementia grew stronger. As an excuse to rid themselves of a resident, they come up with something that, on the face of it, is laughable. [removed] If you want to place your loved one there and come visit once in awhile, this may be the place for you.. However, if you visit your loved one frequently, you will definitely see the shortcomings of this facility. Good luck finding a place for your loved one. There are many memory care facilities in the area. Please choose wisely.

They were okay, but there wasn't a lot going on.

The staff was nice. They were okay, but there wasn't a lot going on. They had a room with a piano, but there wasn't anything going on in there. There wasn't anyone he could really be communicative with, as the residents were pretty progressed. It felt very institutional, and was very expensive, the price didn't seem to match what they offered. The food was edible, but I did hear complaints, and for my loved one the food was not quite soft enough. It wasn't the right fit. We liked that they had a perimeter where they could walk around. Katie was very nice, the people there were nice, but this wasn't a good fit for us.

They promised a lot. In the first week we had nothing but problems with them regarding the care of my father. My father fell the first night he was there. They sent him to the hospital. My fathers medication was not being given to him correctly. He was overdosed on his blood pressure medicine. We had a meeting with the head nurse and everything was getting resolved and my dad got sick at the end.

The apartment was far away. For her to be motivated just to go to the dining room was a long walk. It was like living in an apartment complex and walking 1/8 mile to the dining room. It was kind of depressing, not bright. There were gaps between the doors of probably an inch, and in the closet I saw rust. Some corridors did not have a pleasant odor. By the pool, the sidewalk wasn't level. Little things, they don't seem like a big deal individually but all together it didn't look well maintained. It had a very small dining room, short dining hours, and I ate there and had heartburn the rest of the day! I asked how long most of the staff had worked there, and I never got a straight answer. I didn't see any staff and resident interaction, but you wouldn't based on the distance between everything.

Not Enough Caregivers

We took my mother out of here. We did not like the situation in the dementia cottage where she was. My mother was sicker than we realized she was. We didn't think there were enough caregivers there. The first cottage was nice. I forget what the first cottage was that we had her in but there was 1 caregiver for 16 people and they were more independent and there was a floating nurse. We put her in the dementia cottage because she was really sick and we though she would get better with more attention. It's a beautiful facility but my mom was not getting focused attention. It didn't seem like it was being overseen really well like once when my sibilings went to visit there was a stranger in her bed and she was in another room. We ended up bringing her home and she's doing a lot better.
