If your loved one needs help with their oxygen use, forget this place. They may be qualified to administer meds and insulin injections, but they cannot or will not help your loved one get their portable oxygen units ready for trips outside their room to go to the dining room.

There are a few workers on the morning shift that are too loud during breakfast. i have seen residents sent back to their rooms if they say something the workers do not like. I have heard workers tell residents that something they were doing was disgusting. you must monitor what medicines your loved one is receiving very carefully.

My mother has been here for about a year and is diagnosed with dementia. The problem is that the facility is thinly staffed, and instead of having time to spend with patients, they are tasked with general housekeeping duties. It is tough to know where to place a loved one based on a 30 minute tour. We also have had difficulty with communication with staff over the phone in coordinating taking my mom for visits and lunch. I feel it it critical for our family to spend as much time with Mom as possible during her declining years, yet the staff make it difficult to arrange.

I am the family member of a resident. Benton House contacts me about issues that I do not need to know about and fails to contact me regarding issues that I do need to know about. The turnover in leadership has occurred too frequently in the past 13 months, and the departures of staff are difficult for my family member.

FILTHY! Especially since the new administrator has taken over. The rooms are NEVER inspected! Toilets are constantly filthy, floors, dust piles up, it is disgusting! I would never recommend this to anyone!

This facility has so much potential. The staff has always been wonderful to my mother, but it seems to be a revolving door. Management either runs off the excellent employees or they just don't pay well enough. Our family is happy with our choice for mom, but the management of the facility needs some improvements.

Our family had an in person tour and the director that we met with just did not give a very good first impression, and we just did not feel welcomed. It seemed like her attention was elsewhere rather then on us during the tour

I feel the community was deceiving about taking my loved one, and then backed out.

A nurse gave us a tour, which seemed strange. The tour seemed rushed. The rooms shown seemed dark and we noticed roach feces in one of the showers. Gave the impression they were short-staffed. We did like that the showers have benches and the greenery outside.

It is painful to see staff cleaning & vacuuming while residents need help

This facility is very posh and seemed to be the best fit for my mothers memory care needs. It seems they want residents to pay a posh price and not provide much service. I rated a two because of the poor communication and lack of personal care provided. Whenever there was a concern or I needed to follow up on my mothers care I usually found out when I called to inquire. The Director never initiated the conversation about concerns even though she was aware. Better care and follow-up needs to be provided at this facility.

The director that was previously in this community Sheryl was wonderful. Since the new director came in things have changed. The housekeeping isn't getting things well cleaned. The activities director could provide better services to the residents. The chef is wonderful he makes fresh nutritious meals.

The Benton House is a newer community and it is immaculate. The director and the intake nurse are amazing and very helpful. I would like to see more cultural diversity with the staff so the issues with the staff could improve. The kitchen staff would serve burnt food or would not serve food to my mother at all at times. They were very rude and difficult to work with

My mother was at this community for a short respite stay, and it was an okay experience. It is a very nice place, the community looks very nice and clean. Most of the staff was nice and pleasant. I did have my concerns about my mother's personal care. She had on the same clothes I dropped her off in. Also it seemed like they didn't shower her the whole time she was there. Other than those issues, it is a good community with kind people.

Even though I had a 6 PM appointment no one was at the desk by the front door when I came in. Waited about 10 min. for a aid to come by and ask if I needed help. Memory Care Residents were sitting around in chairs/Wheel Chairs in front of a TV. No aids in area. Older community that could use some sprucing up. Staff to resident ratio was maintained at state requirements.

Food is a real problem. Not too many fesh options available. Seems to be a lot of frozen food and lots of starch and pasta. There are a lot of residents that complain but the staff is very slow to make changes. The desserts are very small and there is no variety!! No diabetic menu either. The only dessert option for diabetics is vanilla ice cream every day/night. The food and dessert portions can be small too. They even ran out of spaghetti sauce one evening and served the noodles with no sauce! Because of continuous complaints, management has made a few intermittent improvements. But, overall, they have a ways to go in the food department. It's a shame that the residents have to keep complaining to foster change. Why doesn't management get involved and do the right thing!!

They were not able to provide the care that we needed. We were only there a short time. My loved one was sent to psychiatric care for being dehydrated. This was not a good experience for us.

To be fair, their needs were different then and they weren't as dependent as they have to be now, it was different circumstances, but there was no consistency. The main problem we had was the med techs not watching him swallow his pills nad he would throw them in the garbage; they would just put them in his hand and walk away. The meals there were horrible, very starchy, nothing fresh, everything was frozen. The called is "fresh frozen" but nothing was really fresh, that was their term I guess. There was a lot of lip service, the cleaning was sporadic and their dementia unit smells like urine 24/7. The assisted living is much better but we felt we got a lot of lip service and really no solutions.
