So far things are going pretty good. It's very clean, and the staff is really nice. She likes the food, it's the best of anywhere she has been. We had a friend that had some experience here before, and was pleased with it. One price covers everything. We are really happy, there really isn't anything I would like to see improved or done better.

Evanna said that this was more of what her mom was looking for. It was more independent than Oak Park Retirement and it was a very nice place. Her mom would get her own house with a garage, but the kitchen was not the best it needed some work done to it. She would choose this one over the Oak Park except it was too far away for her convenience.

Cardinal Village at the Gardens of Statesville has spacious and comfortable homes for independent living. We found the facility to be very clean and the staff friendly. The meals took a downward turn for a while, but new management is changing that situation and they are also increasing activities for the residents. My senior living there is quite happy and satisfied with her situation.

They are dedicated to memory care, and they do a good job. They are in a state of flux, right now, they are going through management changes. They do a good job with his care. We will have to see how things go once the management settles in. There is a lot of change of personnel right now.

My family member did not even get a chance to move in to Horizon Bay. After we had given a part of the payment upfront, they rejected us about four days before my family member was supposed to move in. However, they kept our money and have not been easy to deal with since. The staff is nice but unhelpful. I have spoken to the facility and their corporate department with no such luck in getting our money back. If you choose this community, DO NOT give them any money upfront, despite what they say, only pay them after your family member has been settled into the community. Very disappointed.

It needs to have more interaction and activities. They don’t engage them as much as they could. They are as wonderful as a community can be. It’s pretty, beautiful. The residents are nice. The area is nice. The food could have more fresh options, more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Everything is fine. They do a lot to keep her engaged, and social. It is really good. The layout and the resident to faculty ratio are the reasons we chose this community over others we saw.

It's a very nice place, they were a little more cavalier in their presentation. Everything that I saw about their facility was a little more cavalier and I sincerely beleive that structure is good for certain things and I beleive structure is a good assitance for Alzheimer's patients. They may have had a perfectly wonerful program that may have been better than anything I've ever seen but the percieved lack of structure didn't seem ideal.

Overall, I think they do well in everything, I really think the thing that I like the most is the openness and willingness and the communication that they want to have with me but if I were going to indicate one area that could be improved it would be with the schedules of their folks. Sometimes one person doesn't know what has happened with regards to my loved one, to be able to explain something to me and maybe it is communication between them, I don't know, but I think if there was some way where they could ahve better systems in place for keeping track of things or what's been done on a different shift or a different day. But I have been very pleased with the people here, she seemed to have settled in and adjusted pretty well. It's a little smaller, and of course I can't compare any kind of individual attention she might have gotten at one place versus another but I felt like in the small environment she would get more one on one attention.

My dad has since passed away, he didn't die here but he started to feel dizzy and they took him to the hospital in the ambulance, no one went with him, but I don't think that's something they're required to do. I've since seen something on TV about Emeritus and it's a big corporation and the picture they painted of Emeritus wasn't pleasant. My experience with them was they did everything that was expected of them. My father's stay there was all about cleanliness but no one's perfect. I'm not sure what they could improve on, everything I saw about them was fine, mostly I was just happy that he was out of my mother's hair and that he was someplace that I didn't expect him to ever leave. He wasn't in palliative care because he wasn't diagnosed with anything, he wasn't strictly speaking, palliative, but it was like that for me. One of my biggest things was my mother was running out of money and from my point of view, the only things that really mattered was to find something that wasn't like 5,000 dollars a day, this place was much cheaper so you could stay longer.

My mom was here after she fell and fractured her hip. I thought they were very good. I was satisfied. They were more conscious - they put pads around the bed like what you would use if you were doing gymanstics.

This is our second choice

Visited Jenni-Lynn July 12. The residents were eating. Was not able to meet with Ms Beverly , although I was given a tour. One-floor, nice layout and the staff members were very cordial.

We had a lovely tour; and enjoyed lunch with the residents who recommended the facility wholeheartedly.

PRETTY NICE

We toured during covid, so it may have had some impact. But we felt that the facility was stale and there was not a lot of people around or things going on. My loved one is very active so we wanted a place where she would have a lot of activities to do and people to socialize with.

Physical facilities are good. Costs are competitive. Manager and direct staff are good. Floor staff is average at best. Some are very good; some are extremely poor. Issues are lack of communication between floor staff and management, and visitor support. We have waiting 10 minutes for floor staff to let us into the building.

Not a good fit for my loved one.

Brookdale is a good assisted living facility. It would be great if it had a full staff. It needs two nurse assts. 24/7. Our receptionist Carolyn Dotson is exceptional. Laura, our Program Coordinator is outstanding. Our dining staff does an excellent job.
