It was fine. It was just the physical space that we didn't like. It was like an old hotel. For some people that may have been very pleasant but it was not good for my mom as far as her ability to ambulate. It was just the layout of it and the need for elevators. It was nothing negative about the staff, but more the physical layout of the place.

We looked at this one for my aunt but the studio apartments were very small so she wasn't willing to pursue that one. We found one with larger apartments and a better value because of it.

My mom has just moved in recently and we are pretty happy with Santa Maria Terrace. My mom enjoys the activities like playing dominos with the other residents; she goes down for coffee chat and all her meals. Having just moved she has not been able to take advantage of all they offer but the food is good and she seems to be adjusting well. I was really very impressed with Crystal at Santa Maria Terrace. She called me before our tour to discuss my mom and her needs and then during our tour she stayed with us over an hour while we ate lunch. I was very impressed by how warmly we were treated at Santa Maria. We toured a different property, Merrill Gardens, and did not receive the same attention or care. My only concern with Santa Maria is we are paying for my mom to receive 3 showers a week and she is not getting them. We are working with the staff to correct this issue which is not acceptable. My mom seems to be refusing her shower and the staff is allowing that, but hopefully that will not continue. Besides that issue we are happy with this place.

The day caregivers are more responsive in a timely manner. Night caregivers were regularly unresponsive within a reasonable time. Was an issue for us since my dad was 100% reliant on caregivers to help him out of bed and get to the bathroom.

Sadly California Mission Inn has gone downhill in the last year. Happy ily we now have more residents, but less caregivers. The caregivers are rushed and stressed over management. At this time I would not recommend California Mission Inn.

Stay on top of billing, follow through and communicating with medical staff is difficult. If you have dietary concerns speak with the director. Medical director is hard to track down.

The meals at River Point have declined sharply in quality and quantity over the past few months. What was once an excellent dining program — led by a talented chef and nutrition team — has become disappointing and inconsistent. Portions are now very small, and the food often lacks the freshness and attention to detail that River Point promotes in its marketing. Residents deserve nutritious, well-prepared meals, and it’s concerning to see the food program fall so far from what it once was. I sincerely hope management takes steps to bring back the level of quality that residents and families expect.

The staff is limited especially on weekends. There are not enough activities that benefit with memory care and the food is very limited and not very good. No meal choices.

I do like that it always looks clean. My mom really likes the food and they offer snacks throughout the day. When she first arrived, there were tons of creative activities and staff participation. She had lots of options. The thing that has happened in the last few months that is concerning is EXTREMELY HIGH TURNOVER, always someone new there that I've never seen, decrease in activities and they seem to be understaffed. The memory care director ([name removed]) is very kind and accommodating, making herself available often. Right after we moved in many of the staff all left abruptly including upper administrators so I'm not sure what happened and I think they are trying to recover from that. There are some issues in the "care" category that I think are thru no fault of the facility. I've learned that bedrails are no longer thought to be protective or a measure of prevention: my husband has been "found on the floor" beside his bed several times. It's never clear how long he'd been on the floor before being found. I don't know how frequently rounds are performed. On no occasion did he experience anything other that superficial injury and bruising. When this happens, I am called immediately when he is found and the affiliated hospice RN assesses him, to determine if MD should also assess. So far, MD (or ER/imaging) has not been deemed necessary. Another issue: the VA provided hearing aids for my husband. I spoke with the nursing director about the wisdom of this expenditure- thinking these costly devices would be quickly lost. She did not want to advise on this (and did not), but assured me that the devices would be placed on the charging device in the medication cart or supply room. A clip attached the aides to his shirt too. On recent visits, the hearing aides are nowhere to be seen Food is boring (to me); unimaginative, but apparently nutritionally adequate. My husband has experienced significant weight loss - between 20-30 pounds in the year since being admitted there. The physician he has seen at the Kerrville VA seems to think this is to some extent expected in the usual course of dementia - and only suggested that I bring in a supply of protein drinks as supplement. Linens, Room and facility are very clean. No identified unpleasant odors. (I am a nurse and very attuned to such things) From my observation- the "activity" category is a disappointing low point. But perhaps these things occur outside of the times I visit. I have only witnessed "bingo" on one occasion- and was surprised that my husband could and did participate. The assisted living section seems to offer occasional live music and other forms of live entertainment such as lectures, readings, or movies. I have not witnessed this in the Memory Care wing. Value? I appreciate the slight discount in charges offered for veterans. And the charges at this facility seem to be within a "going rate" in this area. administrative and management: I believe this facility to be under nose management. I was not informed such changes would occur, and only learned of this when I called the only person in a management role for whom I had a direct phone number. She informed me that she had been "fired" and at least 3 other administrative level personnel are either gone or have assumed other roles in the facility. Most recently I was shocked to learn that the disastrous flooding here in the Texas Hill Country and specifically Kerrville nearly forced evacuation of the facility. I did get a phone call/voicemail message to inform me of the potential relocation site should evacuation be necessary. Fortunately the flooding waters came to within 10 feet of the level that would force such a measure and evacuation was not initiated. I have subsequently learned (and embarrassed to admit I had not questioned this even tho I am aware of the facility's proximity to the river) that the building is actually situated in what is identified by FEMA as a slight risk (I'm not certain of exact terminology) of flooding.

The facility has great staff just not enough per most facilities I looked at. For the price, it is great.

It is a very different but nice setting. Not a traditional facility. It's more like a home. The residents all eat together like a family. They do not have visiting hours, family can visit 24/7. They could improve by adding more staff, better cooks.

There’s been a lot of turnover of most key staff, which has negatively impacted service and made it difficult to assess. I’m hoping things will improve over time with a new staff. Food looks pretty grim but I’ve been told meals will improve. Quite a difference from the meals we saw at other Reno/Sparks facilities. So far (a year now), residents still have not received an annual flu or Covid shot. I keep asking. The relatively new office staff [name removed], is a gem and they are lucky to have her! I prefer to remain anonymous.

You definitely get what you pay for. They screwed up the financials from the start and then took money out of my mother's account for the month of December, even though she passed away in [date removed] When I asked them to reimburse me the money they took, they had the nerve to SEND ME A BILL for [fee removed] When she was on hospice, I requested that she have a nurse present 24/7 because with COPD, it's harder for them to breathe at night. They left her alone and she knocked her oxygen off, which is what started her passing. They told me once she started to decline that someone would check on her every hour. It happened over the weekend and they had minimal staff available for care. It was a horrible experience

#1 overall experience is a 3, I would give it a 5 if the food was better. '#2 cleanliness is a 3, the weekly cleaning of individual apartments is not good. Most of us do a bit of it ourselves. If you ask the housekeeper to do something, she takes care of it. #3 friendliness is a 5, the whole staff is wonderful!. Everyone is helpful, and pleasant. If I could I would give them a 10 ! #4 care I require a lot of hands on care. I use a wheelchair, plus I need personal help, they always help and are cheerful and kind. I also use a Hoyer Lift to get into the chair and back into into bed. #5 the administration is somewhat responsive to complaints, I'm not really sure how to answer this. I only hear what other residents say. #6 at meals I hear complaints. The food is not good. We all have refrigerators & microwaves, so we can fix something for ourselves, plus we can have food delivered. #7 Activities, we have many activities both at CMI and outside(lunch, shopping and scenic drives). Activities Director are very open to suggestions! #8 Value for the money, this is where California Mission Inn really shines! The basic rent is so much less than what I paid at Belmont Village, it trumps any complaint.

The could improve on communication and with those improvements we would recommend Harvest Home and Inwood Crossing to other families.

We picked them because it was close to our house. Also they were better when we moved her in, if a friend asked I would be honest and say the food sucks they are short staffed but the other residents and a couple of the staff are super friendly.

Very nice place. Just very poorly run. Management is not the best. Once you complained then thing get a little better

I would tell a friend, not to go there. My one additional comment would be to make sure the staff has better geriatric medical training.
