The facilities are clean and welcoming. The common area furnishings are updated and comfortable. The staff has been amazing; helpful with a smile. The food is not always served warm and the meat is sometimes overcooked; that is the only reason I didn't give it a 5. That being said, I've just returned from partaking in their early Thanksgiving lunch with my mother and it was delicious.

The Bungalows has truly gone the extra mile to make sure my mom is comfortable and had a comfortable transition to assisted living. They're attentive and responsive. They seem like they're a bit understaffed so many people are wearing many hats. From an improvement perspective my mom's biggest complaint has been the food and the fact that it's almost always cold when she gets it. Again, that may be a staffing issue. Perhaps a better selection of the alternative menu would help too. She's had a little trouble getting her laundry done and all of it back to her. There were several pieces left in the laundry room and we had to go down and find them. The facility is friendly, accommodating and really for the most part focused on making the residents comfortable.

Activities were engaging for residents and planned events aligned with holidays, recognitions, etc. Activity staff enjoyed their work and was reflected in how residents were treated. Food menu had variety and special needs handled easily. Staffing was an issue - including cleaning staff, laundry, maintenance, and caregivers. All staff were caring and attentive - just not enough staff to meet all the needs. There were questions about overnight staff meeting needs of residents and families. At times, business side required follow-up for financial inquiries. Also, corporate needs to establish additional banking relationships so a greater number of financial institutions can be drafted for monthly payments. Overall, a good experience and would recommend.

While I may sound a bit critical regarding the food and activities, my concerns stem from my loved one's experience. Unfortunately, she finds the food unappealing, and I have to agree—it doesn’t look very appetizing. The activity offerings are more robust for residents living downstairs, but those upstairs who prefer not to come down have very limited options, despite there being space available for more engagement. The upstairs activity calendar is rarely updated, and although they've recently started printing a small-font version and posting it, it's not easily readable for many residents. A more accessible, easy-to-read calendar in each resident’s room would be a meaningful improvement. The downstairs activities do seem well-planned, with recent events like a fashion show and themed parties that appear enjoyable. However, for upstairs residents who don’t participate downstairs, the lack of engagement is noticeable. I’ve suggested implementing more social activities—perhaps facilitated by volunteers or staff—such as card games or coloring sessions, especially since many residents gather early for meals out of boredom. There is a TV in a sitting room although it often has news or other uninteresting shows on. I'd suggest running a variety of movies and maybe encouraging the residence to come together to watch such movies. There is a nice game room/library that could easily be used to gather a few residents together, but I'd never see it utilized in that way. There’s a lot of idle time that could be better utilized. Another significant issue is the lack of individual climate control in the upstairs rooms. This has negatively impacted my loved one’s health during colder months, as her room often becomes too cold. In the summer is often unbearably hot. I didn’t realize this when choosing the facility, but it’s something I would have considered more carefully. Unfortunately, personal heaters or fans aren’t allowed, which limits options for comfort. Regarding memory care, I had expected more interactive, therapeutic activities tailored to cognitive support. Although there’s a cabinet full of materials, I’ve only heard of these being used once in the past year. I was told the staff member responsible for these therapy sessions/activities left and hasn’t been replaced, which is disappointing. On a positive note, the nursing staff is generally excellent. Most of them genuinely care about the residents and communicate well. While a few are occasionally distracted by their phones, the majority are attentive and compassionate. I always feel welcomed when I visit, and many staff members know my mom personally and share updates about her, which I deeply appreciate. The facility itself has seen some nice renovations recently, with fresh paint, updated furniture, and new wall décor that make the environment more pleasant. Upstairs residents also have access to an outdoor area, though they need assistance to use it, unlike the contained courtyard downstairs. A revision to allow these residents to be able to access this area without assistance would be a wonderful improvement. Overall, Lakeview Estates has many strengths, especially in its caring staff and recent improvements to the physical space. However, enhancing food quality, improving activity communication and accessibility—especially for upstairs residents—and addressing room temperature control would significantly elevate the experience for residents and their families.

I have always found the staff to be helpful and available. At times there seems to be some staffing issues, as though there aren't enough workers. But they quickly handle anything I or my mother needs. The area of most concern is the food quality. I have eaten there and watched the residents reject the food. The food simply is not good. The facility tried to have a restaurant. I felt they should have put more effort in the current kitchen/cooks/food instead of trying to find another money source. I honestly say if the food was a higher quality, I wouldn't have any complaints about the Retreat at all.

The staff is amazing, everyone has been accommodating, caring and respectful. From the directors to the aides. A wide range of activities are provided to stimulate a variety of mental and physical levels. We are happy with the care thus far. Appreciate the small kitchenette area of microwave and fridge. I would give the food quality & options a rating of 2.5 - 3. While this can be a common theme for ALF, I will have to say that this location is a tad lower than other facilities mom has been at. The staff are great and do what they can within the parameters afforded them. They try to accommodate having a favorite item available & added Decaf coffee to the offering when requested. No salad bar, no soup, limited serving portions and lack of flexibility in alternative or additional options at meal time if requested. No open beverage station for juice, water or ice. Positive points: Personal meal choice options are ordered a day in advance from a menu, special diet needs are accommodated, fairly decent alternatives to choose from (provided it's requested the day before) and a decent variety of menu overall. Mom's only other complaint is that there isn't a tub in the apartment nor a Spa Tub for scheduled use. Overall, she & her family are pleased with the care and will be staying put. But we will be supplementing her food options on a regular basis and grateful we're close enough to do so.

Staff and residents very welcoming. Staff kind and helpful. Activities leader pleasant and good with clients. The place is clean and nearing end of remodel. It did take a few questions to figure out routine, such as work orders, and how meds were passed, etc. The workers to Staff ratio seems a bit low. Some staff multitasking. Over all my mom is happy with her new home.

Sometimes, licensed personnel seem less interested in providing care requested by family, and orders sent in by her primary care physician. We pay a lot of money to be sure our mom is safe in the facility in which she resides! I want to encourage more training for staff in timely removal of MD's orders from the fax machine, and then prompt attention to those orders. (I was told my mom's MD orders were taken off the fax machine but were not picked up by the licensed nurse on her unit until 3 days later).

The Phoenix at Union Hill building layout is very good, rooms are most adequate, and the location is within 3-5 miles of restaurants, grocery, clothing stores, Walmart, Home Depot, etc. . My wife is in Memory Care (MC) and I am in Independent Living. Overall house cleaning services are adequate. We have been here a little over a year and for about the first nine months a continental breakfast was provided for Independent Living but then it was taken away (no cost reduction). MC meals are included but getting what is ordered has been a chore. Food has not been bad but is frequently just piled on the plate leaving the "presentation" with something to be desired. There have been three chefs in a year. I don't generally use the restaurant except for a very few special occasions. Services and care in Memory Care has been adequate but is minimal. They get the job done using minimum legal help. When we got here there were three people but for a few months now it has been only two, a MedTech and one care giver. Things overall are taken care of much slower, especially getting ready for meals. Personnel turnover in MC is frequent and Phoenix has to utilize outside agencies to fill their requirements. MC activities were very good at first, then dwindled to almost nothing before it has gotten much better now. We are here because of cost and cost only. n addition, management has been okay, especially with a new Executive Director. Staff has been friendly as one would expect.

You have to understand the clear rules for that type of facility in terms of labeling, pill pack, and the hospice service used. Your ideologies may differ, and they work for you. You have to monitor charges meticulously to ensure they are accurate. Don't donate your loved ones' items automatically. You go through them and then donate. I made that mistake, and they gave everything away except for some underwear and a sweatshirt before I could there later on the day she passed after the funeral arrangements.

I am very pleased with the facility! All the staff knew my name from Day 1! And I ran into two people I already knew before moving here! As far as maintenance...only a 4 as we could not get my A/C working for the first two weeks...and then I have a pipe not connected to anything in the closet where the hot water heater is located. But once I got in touch with the Director of the facility...the problem was taken care of immediately!!! The food would get a 5!!! It is Southern Cuisine, with several choices for each meal.
