Peregrine is the best option from the 3 facilities we visited. Peregrine felt a little homey. It feels more like small apartments. With indoor restaurants.

Overall great facility, there has been some staffing issues and my family member's biggest complaint has been the food. They were very great with the transition into ASL.

I don't think there was enough activity for the residents. It was very quiet, but for the most part, the residents were left alone and there was not much for them to do. There wasn't really enough staff around to assist with getting them to any activities they did have. The staff were friendly, but a little standoffish. They just did not have enough staff for resident needs overall. When we first moved in, there was nobody who came in to welcome our loved one or explain how things worked. She was pretty much left on her own. Quite a few times when she did need help, it took a very long time for them to respond. The one highlight was the food was good.

Care was good at first but went downhill. Care plan was put in place for safety concerns but was not followed resulting in several injuries and ER trips. Atria never took responsibility and sited staff shortage and placed responsibility on the person with dementia. Communication with the family also was lacking.

11 weeks my Husband resided at this facility. ( This was before Covid struck. ) When transferred to a skilled nursing facility, staff there reported and documented, "bright red fungal like rash in bilateral groins and peri area, right hip showed deep tissue injury, right heel showed deep tissue injury, left heel showed Stage 111 pressure sore and right elbow scab". ( I did notice this elbow injury before scabbing over, and was told " I should of reported it sooner,") No follow up there. All this after only 11 weeks. I did send letters to the Peregrine Corporate Offices regarding my concerns and never received any feedback from them. No one seemed to care, no empathy from them what so ever. No one held accountable. In conclusion, my experience at Peregrine turned into a nightmare. During the time my Husband resided there, I had no major issues. Maybe his elbow injury, but everything else all came to light after he was released and transferred to skilled nursing.

I would say don't go there. There was poor nursing care, inattentive staff, medical errors, and medicine errors. The paperwork was ridiculous, and I couldn't leave a voicemail for anyone. I wouldn't send my dog to them. The nurse supposedly that is on staff there, she is on call for the entire country. They only have LPN's and no RN like advertised.

Atria promises things but they don't stick with it. They ask you to provide proof of what they promised in order to follow through with it. We chose this community because they said that they would work with us financially, and in the beginning they did. The care is wonderful though. The food is pretty good and they offer a variety.

My dad was there 3 months and in that 3 months many problems mostly with his hands on care to the point we have moved him out . There is a new administrator who understands the place needs an over haul so really hope things improve and that my dads new place provides the care we expect and he deserves .

Life Guidance is extremely expensive here and you dont get what you pay for. Turnover is pervasive and they have gone through three LG directors in less than one year. Aides are good but basically they are doing it all with minimal supervision and support. Most of them are burnt out as they are overworked and underpaid. Director does not take action and dismissses complaints. Very little communication with families, no support groups. Looking to fill beds and take your money. Poorly run.

You need to consider retaining a relationship with a primary care doctor instead of relying on the facility to provide medical care. It is for this reason that I've rated core services as "0" as my loved one was not given timely or effective medical attention. As medical care is outsourced, you should reconcile how much you pay for these medical services against the care actually received. I learned this lesson but my loved one suffered the consequences. With this rating, I hope to prevent this from happening to someone else.

I mainly disliked the Atria Shaker, but it was a beautiful place. First of all, the original person who did tours did not show me around that day. It was expensive, and we didn't meet their financial requirements. I also have relatives who volunteer at the Atria Shaker and they have witnessed the staff speaking and behaving in a detrimental way. It was not a great place.

Due to covid there was a serious disconnect with communication, when we would call and ask questions we would get a different person every time with a different answer. Our loved one did contract covid while she was there, and luckily it was a mild case but we had to take her out so she has been staying with us. They will not let her come back into the community unless she tests negative three times and quarantines for the 14 days which is confusing to us since the other Atria's guidelines are not like that. They also did not help explain the laundry schedule, house keeping schedule or activity schedule to her while she was there.

The food is not good and by the time they get it to your room it is always cold. There are few activities and the ones scheduled are frequently cancelled. Usually they get cancelled because staff did not show up to work. The only good thing is that it is near a Stewarts so you can get something decent to eat there.

You are basically alone in your room 24 - 7. Cold food is delivered with a small cup of soda for a beverage (coffee in the AM - cold). It is awful. There used to be activities but they were slowly eliminated. It is isolation.

My parent is in Peregrine and has been for about a year. This place seemed great at first but is rapidly going downhill. The Director is very mean (to her employees also from what I hear) and really doesn't KNOW the residents. There is a new nurse that seems very abrasive and hard to understand. The place is a revolving door for employees. The last review I can find is about 14 months old. If I were you.....I would keep looking and GOOD LUCK! Very few people really care about your loved ones like you would like them to.

Peregrine's Landing-Memory Care Unit Assisted Living facilities are for profit senior residences that target seniors and their families at a time when they are desperate for help in keeping mom healthy and safe. The Admissions/Marketing representative at Peregrine’s will make promises that the staff cannot deliver. [removed] The Memory Care Unit at Peregrine’s offers adequate physical care of its residents. The staff is very nice, however they are not trained to offer the emotional and behavioral support that residents with cognitive impairments require. For example, one resident was witnessed trying to leave to “go home” when she realized that she could not leave without setting off alarms. This was very upsetting to her and she could not understand why she was locked in. The staff did not offer any techniques to distract her away from the door, instead they told her she could not leave “without a doctor’s order”. The situation quickly escalated and the staff did not seem to know how to handle it. Unfortunately, the resolution to problems such as these is to call the physician for sedatives or send the resident to the emergency room for evaluation. Is this how we want mom to be treated? They also have staffing issues here. This is evidenced by employees working double shifts and staff scrambling to find replacements because the relieving shift worker called in sick. When you see this happening you can imagine that mom is not getting the attention that she deserves. It is also worth mentioning that the food is overcooked and bland, which is really sad considering meals are the only thing to look forward to here. And yes, that marketing person will tell you that if mom does not like what is on the menu then there is an alternative choice such as sandwiches, but you will never hear the staff offer an alternative to the two choices that are on the menu. I think you should reconsider your decision to move mom in here. Good luck with your search. Please also watch this Frontline video entitled Life and Death in Assisted Living: [removed]

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this facility to anyone that cares about their elderly family members. Peregrine made care for my mom and dad a hardship. Big communication break down between Admin staff to the aids.

There is not enough space to express how horrible this place is. From the management staff to the aides they do not care about the residents. Money is the only thing they care about. They do not check on residents in rooms as promised. I know for a fact they never checked my loved one from 9pm until 7 am. Protocol was to check every 1/2 hour! The aides are horrible if resident is dozing at meal times they don’t bother to wake them or feed them when they wake up. They will lie right to your face that they did something when I knew for a fact they did not. No one keeps in touch as to progress or regression of patient. Aides will tell you they don’t have time because they are short staffed. Turnover is excessive. Overall do not place a loved one here it is not a good place.
