more assisted folks. much older facility. older people. no grounds. would have to hang in your room. not what we are looking for. Dad too young for this.

Two close friends of mine moved in 17 months ago. Legacy did some heavy advertising and many promises were made. The line We believe in challenging people! Caught my friends attention. They have fallen short on all promises. There are very few activities. Many of the residents are confused and wander around the building at will. One lady was constantly asking where her apt was. The building is not even half full. The staff turnover is at least 80% and they just fired the activities director who wasn,t there a year. My friend needs assistance with transferring and bathing. She has complained to me that a few staff members are rough when handling her. Because they are ALWAYS short staffed, she was not always getting her 2 showers a week. Today when she rang for assistance, the aide was very rude and acted as if she was being put out. Are there any pluses? The food is good and the chef tries to accommodate. The building is lovely . There are some nice staff...just not enough of them. Cons: Hiring and keeping nurses is a big issue. There is NO nurse on duty at night. Poor staffing. Recently a confused resident started pounding on residents doors in the middle of the night in an agitated state! In this time of Covid they are going their best to keep residents safe but with no planned activities some residents are having a tough time. Don,t move your loved one here.

I, unfortunately, feel the need to keep this review anonymous for concern about a relative who is currently residing there, and has been there for about 3 years. Initially it was an excellent experience, and matched closely to what was explained on our tour of the facilities. It's why our family chose it. It is not inexpensive, but we care deeply about the quality of life and are invested in the community. When Pegasus took over, quality immediately plummeted. Caregivers are quitting and whistle-blowing state agencies, the food has become atrociously bad, and the staff seem abused by a tyrannical director who seems focused on the bottom line only. Attention to paperwork is slipping, which puts at risk care-provision insurance benefits. Our family is beginning the process of pushing state regulators to intervene in the situation. Though I feel very badly for the dedicated staff who have hung on, I cannot in good conscience recommend this facility.

A good friend of mine was a resident here for several months. I found it very difficult to reach her because the staff would drop my calls and I had to call over and over again before the call would go through. At one point, when she left briefly to go to a local hospital, the staff told me that they didn't know where she was. When I sent her a letter after she had left this facility for a better caring place, they returned the letter with "not here" and an "unable to forward" on the envelope. Then, when I called to ask where she was, they said they had no idea. My friend doesn't blame the staff; she says that they are overworked and underpaid, and they are just too busy. The company is making a great deal of money, but they are not treating either staff or residents well.

Brookdale prides itself on providing a gracious setting including entertainment for residents . We were disappointed to find that staff apparently pays no attention to the enthusiasm of residents in response even to be disrespectful of performers. We saw this as a red flag on our tour and l would be hesitant to place a loved one here.

Unfortunately Brookdale's memory care section has been without a director for many months and the lack of care shows. Not unusual for the most important elder care employees, the caregivers who actually put their hands on mom or dad or gramma or grandpa, to be underpaid and over worked, and that is the case currently at Brookdale Fairfield. It's not that the caregivers don't try but they are understaffed and over-worked and it shows. If you plan to visit hold your breath... UPDATE>>> A new memory care director is on site. When we tried to contact him he was in his office on his cell phone with the door closed. I'm sure it was important. We will give him a few weeks to see if conditions improve, otherwise our family member will be relocating. What a messed up facility in a messed up industry...

I was shocked with the promises and smiles, and then services that were not delivered, rudeness to the family member that checked up on her father every day. The lack of basic medical care when he was so sick with pneumonia and they kept saying he was just fine. I found that whole situation just disgusting and truly pity that rest of the clientele that live there.

The facility has changed hands and is now owned by Brookdale. It's too bad. The administration bottom line is money. I've had a parent there for several years... And we moved out. Billing errors, lack of caregivers, overworked staff combine for a dangerous situation. State has been in several time. Do your homework before you move here.

My loved one really likes it there. They just keep getting bought out by other companies, and everytime they do, they keep raising the prices! The price to visit and have lunch or dinner is $11 a person! Also, if the residents want their breakfast brought up to them, they charge $5 now. Other than that, the staff is wonderful. They take care of the residents. If they miss two meals in a row, they go looking for them, and if they don't hit their button in the morning to show that they're up and awake, they come checking too. We've just heard that people are leaving because the prices are raising.

Our experience was not good!! Initially meals were good and nutritious. After Pegasus stepped in, the menu choices were fewer and not the same quality. Some staff rushed the residents and visitors from the time we entered. And we're clearly irritated with those of us who asked questions. The hours and service for the Bistro was never consistent. The house keeping staff was sporadic when we asked, we were told that they were short staffed. Even tho they said they would change bedding weekly, it didn't happen, the family did that. Its not that the family wouldn't do these things, its that these services were " included in the cost of rent". The final straw was when our family member who occasionally got confused could not find her back to her apartment. We tried talking on the phone with her but needed help. Her family lives out of town. I called the front desk to ask if someone could help her get home and was told no one else is here and I cant leave the front desk". This was at 4:45 pm on a thursday.I asked if they could ask another staff member to help and was told no one was available. When I called a 2nd and 3rd time the phone rang over 30 times ( I counted!) Our family member was frightened, alone and no one was willing to help her. I kept talking on the phone with her while I drove 35 min from Galveston to help her. During that time there were no residents or staff willing to help. That's shameful. Surely she was not the only person to need this kind of assistance. I called the CEO [name removed], left a voice mail twice and got no response, called [name removed] the person in charge of "resident engagement". Her response was "that shouldn't happen" with no concern or follow up. We will never recommend Pegasus Preserve to anyone. In fact I would strongly discourage others from moving there.

The kitchen and dining room staff were very nice. The activities and activity directors were fantastic! Lisa, who sat at the front desk, was incredibly kind to out loved one and always nice when we came to visit. Denise, the marketing/resident recruiter, sold us on moving our loved one into the facility because of their alleged knowledge of dementia and the care that is needed. What she told us was NOT the kindness and care that was recieved. Even when meeting with the facility director, Marley, we were greeted with smiles and the illusion of concern, but issues we addressed with her never changed. Issues that were incredibly important, like our loved one receiving prescribed medications. Sometimes the medicines were not even given! The doctor who oversaw the nursing staff was super helpful, but the nursing staff were not at all competent. There may have been a few great nurses (like Jessica), but others that we interacted with seemed like they didn't want to be there. The facility itself seemed clean and well decorated. It often didn't smell super great when you walked in, except for the days that Denise would give tours, then it smelled like cookies were baking. The kitchen food was hit or miss, but not top tier quality, even when there were special events. The room our loved one had was decent and clean upon move in. The blueprint of the room was not true to size and a queen bed fit quite awkwardly. We weren't able to see the room before moving in, which was a mistake on our end. When maintenance was needed, the main guy (Tony?) was always very nice and quick to resolve the issue. Our loved one was left to sit in their soiled undergarments and as a result had several UTIs, which can cause serious issues in the elderly. After moving out, our loved one's health and life motivation have both drastically improved. we for sure miss the activities and the great activities coordinator (Lindsay). Otherwise, there are not enough nurses or aides on each hall, meaning that residents can't get the care they need to keep them safe and healthy. Communication to us as a family was practically nonexistent. When a prescription had run out, we would not get a call until there were no pills left, and as you know, it can take several days to several weeks to refill at the pharmacy. it was truly horrifying to see how quickly our loved one deteriorated when they moved in, not just health wise but also an increase in depression and motivation.

The overall rating would be a negative five. The care he received seemed okay, but the entire experience was destroyed by their business office tactics. They overcharged me and completely fabricated a reason for such and have not refunded the money that is owed. I would never refer anyone there. Ever.

My parents endured 5 months of continuous neglect. Care plan was not followed. Care conferences yielded no changes. Parents did not receive their showers, did not get clothing changed. Did not get checked on. Did not get assistance in bathroom. Missed so many meals they both lost a lot of weight. Laundry not done, bed rarely changed. Hall floors were mopped twice in 5 months. I’m not exaggerating. Whole wing was filthy. No structure whatsoever in the evening. No guidance, no attention, no direction. Most care staff were on their phones in a quiet corner somewhere or behind closed doors in the nursing office. 3 caregivers were my favorite but they weren’t always in the memory care. Both receptionists were great. Reported to [removed name] in [removed date]. Moved out September. (in a great place now)

Oxford Memory Care has poor business practices. We have been promised a refund for my grandfathers monthly dues after he passed away in the facility this [removed date] was what we are promised and every time we call we get told when they will send it out. Losing a loved one is a hard and we don’t need this headache. This is so unfortunate because their staff is friendly, they care and we saw it every 2-3days we visited my grandfather. I can only imagine the other corners they are cutting in business that will ultimately impact the seniors at this facility in due time. Go somewhere else

A resident (my father) was found dead in his room and was in such a state as to have been dead for days. They don’t check on people here! He was in their level 3 care and should have been visited by staff multiple times before finally his own family member discovered his body sitting on the toilet deceased.

My husband went into memory care at Riverside Oxford in Fort Worth, Texas on [date removed]. I did not have a problem with the care however I wanted to move him closer to home in Saginaw so on [date removed]. I gave my 30 day notice to withdraw him from this facility. On [date removed] I took him out of this facility. I patiently waited for a refund from [dates removed]. I was told the check would be coming end of September, then the end of October. On [date removed], it will be six months since he was at this facility and I have received no money from them. I am legitimately owed a refund. I was given corporate phone number in Wichita Kansas with named of contact. I left multiple messages with this person as well as the head of accounting. Not a single person has contacted me nor have I received a refund. I would not place my loved one in this facility simply because you will not get a refund if your loved one dies there or you have to move them to another facility. I am due about $[removed].

The food is horrible. They are understaffed. Room size is good. My dad only went to one activity. He couldn't participate because you had to sign up a month in advance - so they wouldn't let him sing a song.

Looks are deceiving. Facility is impressive when touring, actual delivery of the services offered? Way below expectations. The medical staff and physical therapy are jokes. I wouldn't allow either group to apply a band aid to a paper cut. The actual caregivers are very kind, just the 2 "medical staff" should not be in any medical care giving roles. Lunch outings should not cost $[removed], especially if the person's actual meal was under $[removed].
