I give this facility one star if that. I totally 100% agree with the review on here about how the ones families mother was treated. I wish I would have investigated this facility more before bringing my mom here only to be treated like a dog. She went and also after losing her home and had some of her wits about her as well but as soon as she started getting a little bit of dementia they quickly wanted to kick her out with no notice even though all of those people in there have dementia. The way they went about things was atrocious they were the most uncaring uncompassionate people I have ever met but when we were moving in of course they wanted to take my mother's money and they were super super super nice I find it disgusting the level of care that my mother was giving I have her now in Murrieta Gardens and so far they seem to be caring and compassionate. I would not recommend this facility and I am going to put them under investigation

I would not recommend this facility. The director [name removed] was extremely rude and the nurse [name removed] I did not care for her attitude as well. My mom came to the facility after losing her home and her car and was very depressed. She did not adjust well to this type of living situation as she still has her wits about her and knows what's going on. I feel as if the staff did not give her a chance to get settled in it had only been 2 months and they had asked her to leave because they felt that she was not able to live there because she was getting some slight dementia. But when we took her to the doctor he said that she just had mild cognitive impairment. And she was extremely upset due to this big big change. She is doing amazing right now 90% better and they are still asking her to leave although so many people in this facility have dementia and they keep them there. I do not care for the way they treated my mother and I did not care for the rudeness and unprofessionalism on their part. I would not recommend this facility. When I call to ask about my bill [name removed] was extremely rude to me and told me she would have the billing lady [name removed] call me and she never did. I cannot wait to move my mother out of this facility and find one where the people that work there have compassion not just act like they do.

My loved one was in the memory care unit. Families need to be very visible and visit several times a week. Be aware there is not a nurse assigned to this unit through the night. I would never put another one of my loved ones in a Brookdale owned property. Nice looking on the surface but enforces and keeps the minimum state requirements for care. Too worried about the bottom dollar instead of the patients.

This place is more like a nursing home. Maybe one or two independents. Management is totally indifferent; they kill you with kindness on the assessments, then after that, your loved one is all but abandoned--mostly. The recent acquisition of Brookdale by Kenmore means the company has a very tight budget and the building is horribly understaffed. Hardly anyone at the associate level speaks clean English. Caregivers are generally very nice, though, I can see they are not happy in their jobs because they are grossly underpaid. I would never move my loved one in here. The company is too tight with the money for what your loved one receives.

My father was living their but had to move him to a different facility. They had him in the independent part of the place where he should have been in the assisted living. Then they said I could get him extra tv channels for a little extra money because my father loves to watch tv and it was a lie. Then I decided to take him out of the Atria Meridian Place and they wanted a 30 day written notice or had to pay an extra so I ended up paying another rent for no reason so still trying to work that out.

Depressing facility. Price is low and this seems to be a good example of you get what you pay for. Some of the staff we encountered didn't really seem to want to be there. They are doing a remodel, but even the newly remodeled areas looked very "old lady." Pretty grounds with nice trees. Neighborhood was kind of sketchy.

After visiting my father on Thanksgiving day as I do every week, I took him outside in the courtyard to walk. There's not a large area at all to walk around a path from one side door to the back door of the facility of a cottage. On the only walkway for the elderly to walk or roll their wheel chairs, I found the walkway was cluttered with sticks, branches and hundreds of acorns that had fallen off the trees above. There was debris and acorns all over which made the path very dangerous for the elderly to walk. Have you ever tried to walk on acorns? They roll right out from under you and you will be on your backside before you know what hit you! It was Thanksgiving day and I found the front office was closed and only limited staff on duty. I cleaned the path as best I could by picking up the fallen debris and kicking acorns off the path but wasn't able to clear it properly. I just k ept my Dad from walking it knowing that it was an accident waiting to happen. After leaving and over the weekend I thought about how dangerous that was to not have these only paths cleaned and clear everyday by Pacifica as this is the 'only outdoor area' the elderly there have to walk outside and it's so dangerous for them. I called management at Pacifica Monday morning to tell them about the path being cluttered with debris and acorns all over it and how dangerous it is for the elderly there to be walking on that stuff and managment blamed it on the wind. (The wind wasn't even blowing Thursday there.. I know because we Sat outside for almost 2.5 hours in the beautiful weather. The weather was, however rainy and windy two nights before that day and plenty of time to clean up the paths before Thanksgiving. But....there ya go. **No ownership, no responsibility** **no fault of theirs** It couldn't be helped.. The wind is a terrible thing to have near or arou nd any nursing home facility.

I toured the Emeritus, it wasn't a good place. It would be fine if the people on the dementia side who I interviewed with, had taken the time to sit face to face with me. Instead we walked along with my loved one following behind me, while we asked questions. The place was worn out and dirty. The hallways and the grounds were dirty, there was trash lying all around. There were not enough caregivers to take care of people one the memory side. They had a run down patio, that the residents were not allowed to go out on. They had very little, if any activities provided.

I brought my father to Atria in Burlingame for respite care for a week, while I went on vacation. I thought the place was elegant, it smelled great the Seniors that lived in the bottom floor seemed happy. I liked that they had a person in the reception area and the rooms gave the appearance you were staying at a first class hotel, very impressive indeed. They also said they do laundry once a week. I loved that they promised activities and that they had nice comfy chairs in the living room area. The Executive Director and the Community business director both very professional. Unfortunately I can not say the same for the male nurse which plays the most important role. This was the first time I had left my father in this type of facility and for sure the last. My father has Alzheimer’s and placed on the second floor in memory care and what at first seemed wonderful turned out to be a nightmare for our family. Please be careful when you sign the contract and make sure they add and specify what type of care they are going to be giving your senior. My contract had only rate information even though it was more then 25 pages long. Atria said they are 24 /7 care, but this is not true, they do not have enough staffing. The problem started when friends and family went to see my Dad and called me frantic that when they walked in at 1100am, my father was fully dressed inside the bed sleeping with a breakfast tray next to his bed that had not been touch. My Dad need assistance to eat. Atria said that all residents eat in the dining area and assisted that is not true. I had to send my old care taker to go and feed him every night there after. My father was being left alone all day with the TV on and setting in a TRANSFER WHEEL CHAIR. My friends and family would visit at different hours and he would be alone in his room with no one around. With those not familiar with Alzheimer, it is inhuman to leave a mentally impaired or any person for that matter unattended and alone for long periods of time. That is why when my family and friends found him, he was shaking and confused. You can imagine when I got off the plane on a Saturday night around 7pm , I went straight to see him, and he was asleep in the room, his dirty clothes in piles thrown on the floor of his closet, food crumbs and food remains all over the room and bathroom, the carpet had not been vacuumed in days , his room filthy dirty. His eye glassed smudged and dirty and his hearing aids were broken. When I came back the next morning to pick him up and take him home the room was in the same condition as the night before and once again my dad was in his room alone with the door close, when he should have been doing some type of activity. When I brought him home and took of his clothes, he had a huge blister in his forearm and he could not move his fingers or his hand same side as the blister was. I took him to the doctor the next day and doctor believes after intensive exams and scans, was caused by that the trauma he endured at Atria. The doctor says the blister was from long hours of exposure from setting in his transport chair. I would not recommend Atria for memory care to anyone and don’t be fooled, the Activity calendar they present is a façade. There is limited supervision. " NOT ALL THE SHINES IS GOLD "

Overall we did not have a good experience with Brighton Gardens of Tampa. We had heard very good things, and everything they promised when it came to care sounded fantastic. However, they did not end up delivering on what they promised. They seemed neglectful of even basic care needs. We tried to speak to the management about it, but they were difficult to get a hold of, and in the end that did not improve the situation any. The on-site Dr. was very unpleasant to work with. However, some of the employees were very good despite the bad situation. The physical therapy staff were all very professional and friendly.

If your family member needs very much care do not send them to the Palm Springs Emeritus. They have beautiful grounds and nice rooms but a high turnover in staff and do not follow through with what they say they will do for your family member. We were extremely disappointed in the care received and the lack of followup and reevaluation of our Mother while she was there. Her health declined and her dignity was lost at this facility.

I moved my grandmother out last month and would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone. I am extremely dissatisfied and plan to make a formal complaint. My biggest concern was SAFTEY. The system they have in place for responding to residents that have an emergency is a joke. All residents use the same emergency pendent to contact the staff for emergencies as well as general requests. Example if my grandmother falls she should press the pendent, if she wants to go down to the dining room she would press the same pendent. How does the staff know if it’s an emergency and should respond right away? The answer is they DON’T. This is a huge safety concern. My grandmother had more than 8 falls here in a 5 month period. I am not saying that Atria is responsible for them but what I am saying is that they did nothing to help prevent or improve the situation. Bottom line is this place may be alright for highly active and functional individuals but if your loved one has medical issues this is not the place for them.

We were disappointed in the way we were rushed through our tour. It felt as though they didn't want us to take too close a look at the facility. I would not recommend Villa Bonita to others.

Staff is overworked and underpaid. Cost per month is overpriced. Food is not so great. My mother lives here and every time I go visit, she is wearing some other residents clothes. When I visit, I overhear the staff gossiping and complaining loudly and in front of the residents. There's never any activities going on. All residents do is sleep in the TV area. So many different caregivers coming in and out and not one could answer questions regarding my mom. If things don't improve, I will be taking my mom elsewhere.

Smelled like urine and all the people were strapped to wheelchairs. Reminded me of the old fashioned nursing homes my grandma was in 30 years ago. It was nasty. I didn't like the set up, granted we are in Florida, but it was not self contained. You would have to be exposed to the weather to get between buildings and it seemed like you'd get hit by winds and heavy rains. I was not impressed one little bit.

Had a Horrible experience with them in the past

Too expensive!!! Would be about $7000 for both parents + $6000 admission fee ($3K ea.)

Studio very small, no kitchenette. One berm starting at 3000, out of budget range.

Old, dated and smelled odd. No walk-in shower. Only 1 bedroom units. Very old residents.

Horrible. It was just dingy and depressing and the halls were dark and narrow. It was very, very, very institutional. Everybody had a sad face on. There was no interaction betweent the staff and the patients that I saw.
