Pacifica Senior Living

The people who showed us around on the tour were very nice, but the facility was an awful setup. The rooms were tiny and too closed in. It was more expensive, yet it didn’t have all the amenities that the place we chose did. (The place we chose was like an entire studio apartment really, with a kitchen, laundry facilities, great bathroom and shower, and a bay window). The room at Pacifica felt like a closet. There was barely room for a bed, let alone a dresser or TV. And that's not what we wanted for our loved one in a space where she would spend the majority of her time.

We really did not like what we saw on our tour at Pacifica San Martin. The residents seemed like they were all doped up. It felt more like in a nursing home rather than assisted living.

When we drove up to this community we decided that we did not even want to walk in to the community. We had a long convo about how the outside of the community looked and how we felt about it with the director and just decided that this was not the community for us.

I wouldn't advise or recommend the community to anyone for their loved ones. The community isn't what they said it is and they aren't providing therapy for me. They also said I could take specified medication, and now I'm not able to.

I did not like Pacifica Senior Living at all. It is not in a great neighborhood. The main building looked old and run down and the rooms were small. They have individual cottages but those were just old houses in the neighborhood. The appearance really turned me off of this facility.

The community is understaffed and undertrained. The staff has to do many jobs due to staffing and they are not trained. The staff is very friendly but there is no management on site. I would not recommend this community to others. They said they would do specific tasks but would not complete them. There are no activities to participate in and there is no engagement. Basic hygiene was not maintained either

We removed my mom due to lack of care, medicine mismanagement, after pointing out lack of care the staff would not speak to us. They continue to order medicine from their pharmacy without using what we provide . Her room was constantly hot with no air movement and caused foul smells . Evening staff is so short they are unable to give care to all of the residents in the building. Residents wander into other rooms ,when I questioned staff about this, they said they know and they cant stop her. Staff is not required to make rounds due to the assisted living status , so many times we had to go get mom something to drink or snack on . The facility smelled bad and furniture was old and dirty needing replacement. The carpet is stained and stinks as well. The price we pay per month the company should correct these issues. Finally when we removed her a staff member said she was happy for us that we found a better place that our mom deserved to be cared for.

I visited this facility along with several others. This facility outdated. The residents were sitting in the lobby bored. It was very quiet, no activities at all . Staff seemed unfriendly when we approached them It took several attempts to find anyone that could help finally someone that identified herself as the nurse in charge came .We asked a few medical questions regarding our father to see if they could accommodate him , then she told us she’s not a nurse. She’s just in charge , but assured me she had been there over a decade and they can handle his issues. The cost is equivalent to surrounding facilities. But the difference is the other facilities have a nurse, Activites and are modern. We then saw the small building . It was not kept up at all. The rooms were small and very outdated. It was terrible . The few residents we saw were sitting at a table . We saw one staff member the whole time we were there. The building itself was falling apart. And was extremely dirty .

I made the mistake of doing a walk In for a tour. There is no one at the desk. I waited for about 15 minutes before I walked in to find someone. Staff told me to come back because they don’t do that. Staff also told me I am not supposed to just walk right in. I tried to explain that I had been standing there and no one came out but she did not want to speak with me regarding this. I never in my life experienced anything like that. They are extremely rude . I will not be returning as I was told to do. The facilities overall appearance is dirty and dated. The residents were just roaming about. No activities were going on from what we saw. There was a man in a wheelchair that looked extremely soiled, we saw a few residents just sitting in the lobby. The lighting is poor at best in the hallway. I’m sure it helps to cover the dirt. I only saw 1 employee the whole time we were there.

I would tell others that I was very disappointed in how they cleaned the bathrooms. Their trash is not picked up daily. The food was ok, they just repeated the meals a lot so there was not a lot of variety on the menu. I cannot comment on the activities due to covid. The staff were friendly enough but they argued and did not seem to get along very well. One night they actually had to call the police to break up one of the fights. Overall, I would not recommend this facility at all.

The very first night she was put here my mom fell and broke her hip and had to go to the ER and never went back to Pacifica Senior Living. They promised me they would give me the money back and I never got anything. I reached out several times and then all of a sudden communication was cut off from me. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend them to others looking for loved ones who have dementia.

I do not recommend this community to others. I don't think my father was taken care of like they said they would. The community is very dirty and when we pick up his belongings things were missing also.

I found inexperienced uncaring "caregivers", except for one. All staff changing often. I was there almost every day helping take care of my loved one. I cannot think of a single thing that operated well - lack of activities, cleanliness, food & water, laundry, etc. No longer there.

This facility charges a diary class rate but is only providing my 94 year old mother with second class care. Many issues. Once the pandemic is over we plan to move mom Find another place for your loved one

Before covid it would be a 4.5 out of 5 stars, and after covid they had to close down completely which we understand. The only way we could see our loved one, was to call her and she come outside. There was two ways we could do it, either come outside, or we could go to her patio and she could stand at her window and talk. She is 96 years old and we felt that she was to unstable to stand outside. The temperature in the summer time can be well over 100 and in the winter it can go down to the 30s, meeting outside was a little dicey to say the least. Our loved one has her own bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living room. Before covid they could use a pool, dining room, and library. They library was awesome for our loved one, she also had a group of people she would sit with everyday. It was perfect, we could not ask for better. During covid they would give the residents a menu so the food could be delivered to them, in a bad situation they did the best they could. Now there are no amenities, and she has lost all communication with her friends since they have to be confined to their rooms, which has been rough.

Couldn’t be worse. I only wish I had taken my mom out sooner. No oversight, feeding and bathing...barely. Rude staff, poor med management. Very unhappy with the care they pretended to afford my mother. Had she not had been in independent living prior, I would never had given the memory care unit a chance. When went to management with my concerns, was met with anger, raised voice and threats to abandon my mother. Thank goodness I had private caregivers on board as well. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Fancy and showy on the outside, poorly managed with ill trained staff that is often punitive and uncaring.

I’ve been a psychologist and social worker over 30 years. My mother was a resident at Park Lane. This is one of the worst places I have been involved with, specifically with resident care and oversight. Assisted snd memory care are particularly poor. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

Quality of the care services would be a five out of five, but the confidence within the care services would be a one out of five. We were told our loved one was a good candidate for the community, but once we arrived they said he was not a good candidate.

When our loved one was at this community, she declined very fast, the nursing staff did nothing to help at all. We ended up having to go to this community and check on our loved one because the staff was not returning our calls. When we got there she could barely hold her head up and could barely speak.
