Pacifica Senior Living

This used to be Atria Sterling it has now been bought out by Pacifica and during that transition process the business side of things were pretty confusing and difficult. Trying to make decisions for our loved one regarding finances and scheduled was difficult, but that has all now been settled. The place itself is fine, the community has always looked nice and kept clean. During the pandemic the meals and dining were restricted, breakfast and lunch were served in the rooms and dinner was served in the dining room and residents had to take different shifts. Now that everyone is vaccinated they can eat in the dining room. However, they do have very inconvenient visiting hours for those who work a normal 8-5 job, they are horrible. Also we do find the communication with the medical staff is lacking and frustrating at times. Our loved one does really seem to enjoy the place and has made a few good friends.

I thought it was depressing. I couldn’t get out of there quick enough when I came to tour. I would never recommend it. The cost was a little bit less though.

My dad was a resident there. He was blind so NO ACTIVITIES for him. Very little effort to get him involved. Lots of turn over at this place. Communication is not very good. I had dry erase boards all over the room to ensure the staff knew what to do. Food is so/so. Director is MIA. Does not return phone calls or E-mails. They still owe me for an overcharge. Been waiting 2.5 weeks, I have heard "the check is in the mail" EVERY DAY. I would not recommend the place.

My Mother stayed here for a respite stay. There were issues. Transportation was too limited to be of service, the food was limited, boring and focused on cost not quality, and when the staff was called for help they took too long to arrive if the came at all. The wrist bands didnt work the first week and no one even checked for be sure they worked. The staff did not resolve issues when presented by the resident. I had to intervene. This place is not for an active resident. My Mother said the activities were almost like those for children. Positives include Netflix in the main room, staff were polite, happy hour, they allow pets, accommodations were nice, and nice residents. Overall, it wasnt bad and it was affordable.

TV - poor unable to accommodate all Direct TV service/offerings ie "On Demand". Activities - "weak" too much left to individuals Minimal options for shopping - 1x a week must sign up. We are far from other services, RX, cleaners, post office. Family needs to support or you need a car. Some have had to pay to be taken. They do MD trips on Wed within a specific area.

When this facility evaluated my Father they said they would be able to take care of him and they had the resources to deal with his combative nature. My Mother agreed and she paid the non-refundable $7,000 community fee. It hasn’t even been two weeks and they have already said to leave him in the hospital until his medications get fixed and then he can come back. They are trying but I think they are over their heads. In the middle of the night, I get urgent phone calls telling me to come to the facility to calm my dad down. I’m there every night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. trying to calm him down. I told the nurses that I think this is the wrong place for my Father and they disagreed with me. However, yesterday I demanded a meeting and they told me that I may be right. This is a good facility for residents who are non-combative and need memory care. It’s a good facility and they have a locked down unit with attentive staff.

All is well for my mother with her move to this community for the time being. However she is in independent living, and sometimes needs more care than they are able to provide in the part of the community. They really nickel and dime you when it comes to getting extra care for your love one. The breakfast, and lunch are good, but their dinner services needs improvements. There are 100 guests, and only 2 servers at night. The residents would up to 45 minutes for their meals. It is still a work in progress for us in this community, and there is room for improvement overall.

Selected Pacifica for my Dad whom I'm moving from AL this Friday due to the progression of his Alzheimer's so this is a preliminary review.

Menu has a poor selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Mainly heavy, starchy foods are available. Snacks are intermittently available. It is a for-profit facility which appears to favor the stock holders over the residents.

I did not feel very comfortable or get very many good vibes from my tour of this community. This place was way to small for all the residents they had currently living there and felt very cramped. There was also nothing that really stood out as far as amenities and features go. It was an older building with a hotel feel to it. It was just not the right fit for my mother.

clean facility nice food but seems to be shorthanded with employees. My Friend had to wait a long time for someone to help her get dressed. Both arms in casts. seems to have some bookkeeping errors as far as getting orders filled and etc.

I moved my 88 year old parents to this facility three months ago. I was attracted to the place because, like most of the other reviews, it is new, the physical facility is VERY nice looking, and the food in the main clubhouse was the best I have experienced in a place for seniors. My parents are i assisted living and are memory impaired. This place falls short in the areas of communication and service. There is no apparent system in place to let me know the health status of my parents. They both have high blood pressure but I was told they don't check it unless they see symptoms. Symptoms such as what, a stroke? In their sales brochure they promise weekly wellness checks but they don't have a system of letting me know what those wellness checks show. Because of this lack of accountability I feel like my parents are not being looked after very closely.

Very tiny rooms and definitely an older facility. We did not prefer it for Mom although it was more affordable than some other places.

The food is very bad, and management says that I am required to pay for it. I can't eat anywhere else because I wouldn't be able to afford eating out AND paying for the food at Meridian. The residents also have pretty severe dementia, so I’m not really able to socialize. There are a couple of people that are mentally cognizant, but they are few and far between. Another negative aspect is that they have raised the rent by $100 a month. The one redeeming quality is that the size of my room is wonderful; all of my furniture was able to fit comfortably.

It's a big facility. They have assisted living and skilled nursing and dementia patients. I didn't like the way it smelled, and I didn't like that some of the staff smoked in the patio area because my mom has emphysema.

We walked in the lobby and it was linoleum and not very pretty. There was a weird smell. Didn't look like a country club, and I guess we were spoiled from the other places we looked at! We wanted the place they were spending their last years to be warm, and Emeritus at Springtree was filled with people in wheelchairs that looked so sad and depressing. Didn't want mom here at all. We didn't even meet the staff, just appearance and grounds was enough.

My mother has been in Atria Rancho Park for three months and while this is still a transition period for her it has been a very different experience for me. The staffing level is greatly insufficient to meet the needs of the number of residents. I have had to make 3 separate requests over a 12 day period to have the heating system in my mother's room fixed - it was non-functioning and we are getting cold nights and evenings. Trying to determine the level of assistance for my mother has also been difficult because there seems to be an unwillingness to work with a resident's individual needs -- there is a list of things they may do and that is as much as can be expected. Any claims of medical assistance are absolutely not to be believed -- they will dole out pills but nothing more; and even on that point if you are unwilling to work with 'their pharmacy' you are given the impression that you are being troublesome. I have had the business manager complain to me about residents taking food from their canteen in a manner that implied the residents were stealing; this canteen was described to me as being always open and always available to residents when I first toured this residence so this was quite an eye-opening comment. Bottom line - like may facilities of this type, it takes a vigilant eye on the part of the family to make this a livable arrangement.

I had billing problems every month. Even the corporate couldn't do simple addition. For meals management waited to the residents left and then secured the dining area which is in the same place as the residents lounge. One day they asked me to turn down the TV because they were having a meeting which was not in the conference room but instead in the residents lounge. The food was okay. At the time that I was there they had chicken and salmon choices which I liked. While it's really pretty on the outside they had things like cracks in the sidewalks. They started taking care of it but then they stopped. I found the billing person was exceptionally rude. She'd make me stand out in front to discuss my billing problems where people would come and listen instead of letting me into the office.

I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. It seems to be a place where rudeness is heard within the community. I overheard residents being spoken to and told to sit down already you rack my nerves. There is a person that works In The office she is young and runs around speaking rudely to staff and is not nice to residents Speaks to employees like they are below her. I saw her run and chase some caregiver in parking lot when I was leaving saying I have your write up so just sign it. Totally unprofessional. Seems hostile environment. My family member seems nervous and does not get showered they said she refuses when I asked. No one called me. I’m surprised the state hadn’t investigated them for the way they are treating people. Just a disgrace. Buy clothes and for my family member and go in and clothes are on someone else. No excuse for that so do yourself a favor and do not put anyone in there. I’m moving my family member out.

Overall, this turned out to be a very sad place to live. I would recommend anybody looking into Forest Trace for a loved one to look elsewhere.
