Pacifica Senior Living

My lower ratings are due to: Recent changes whereby staff no longer empty trash and some residents have trouble carrying trash down the hall to the chute, and also their TV package always seems to have at least 1 network out of order, and no one there is able to repair, and it takes Direct TV multiple weeks to get out and fix. Otherwise they are fine.

Overall we were disappointed in support from staff and transition/communication. The cleanliness was adequate. A handful of staff is very pleasant and helpful. They are very understaffed it seems. M mother in laws biggest complaint is the food. Chef is so nice and helpful. the budget allotted for food is very low. Unable to attest to the activities since my mother in law hasn't partaken or been there long enough. The value for cost seems about what it is around town

Over the course of 6 mos this place has gone from great and clean to suffering staffing shortages resulting in unhealthy uncleaniness and restaurant server shortages. Big personnel turnover. Hoping for changes for the better soon

The staff is accommodating enough. The only complaint I have is the site bus only allows for transport on one day of the week. The move in process is simple as long as u have your own help. Communication could be better. They communicate with the resident and I don't always get the right info. My loved one hasn't complained to me about the meals, so I'd assume they are good. Suggestions for improvement would be a better system for transportation of the residents. I would recommend this facility to others.

I am currently a resident at Pacifica Senior Living Santa Fe. Overall, things at this facility have been okay but I do have some concerns.

Good for 15 years. Now it is a snake pit.

The staff at Hollywood Hills are friendly and competent. The housekeeping is good. Communication with the family is adequate. The move in process went well, overall. The food is mediocre, according to my mom (probably my biggest complaint). My mom has a heating/cooling issue that has yet to be rectified. The facility says it is a building issue...in addition to an electrical breaker which gets blown out regularly. Overall, for the price and location, I would recommend this facility to others. It is a well run facility and I'm able to see my mom on a regular basis.

We are vegatarian and we have a hard time mainly due t not enough fresh vegetables and hardly any beans. Their soups and desserts are good. When "locked down" for COVID the food delivered was atrocious.

This facility has recently gone through a management change. When we moved in the beginning of September of this year, the administrative staff was in disarray and people were being fired or resigning. There was no orientation or welcome. We were very disappointed. However, in the three months we have been here, we have grown to appreciate our fellow residents and the workers who provide food, care and activities. Our apartment is warm, clean and comfortable with a great view of the Monterey bay. Our residence is within walking distance to downtown Pacific Grove and ocean. It is only 10 minutes from the excellent local hospital as well as many restaurants and services. It is a historic building built in the 1920s as a hotel and made into a senior residence in the 1950s, it is unique and a very special building. Things are improving (my ratings were based on the staff, not management/administration). Also, my rating of value for cost was for our apartment only. If I were to rate the overall value for cost, including food, I would rate it at a 1. We would recommend Pacific Grove Senior Living to others, with the caveat that management is still getting their act together.

My loved one was previously a resident at Hollywood Hills and overall the experience was okay. The facility was well kept and clean. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. We really liked and appreciated all of those things! As with most experiences with Senior Care in general, there were a couple of disappointments for us also. The activities that we were promised never seemed to materialize and there didn't seem to be much for our loved one to do. It was also very difficult for us to reach our loved one by phone as well, if we wanted to talk via phone. Finally, although the staff were all very kind people, it is possible to be kind and not be helpful and we didn't feel like our loved one's care was personal or that our loved one got any personal attention. Again, everyone was very kind but not necessarily personal. I understand that staffing may have been part of the issues, but we still felt misled about some things. As a result, my overall feeling from our personal experience with our loved one was disappointed. I might recommend Hollywood Hills, but with definite limitations. This facility could be a great fit for some, depending on what they are looking for and the level of care that is needed.

The way the staff takes cares of me has been good. The activities has been really good with the arts and crafts which i have been doings new things . [name removed] has done very well with decorating the building for every holiday making it feel more home. The front desk receptionist is really good helping me make my appointments and not forget to missed them

The staff at Alta Vista Senior Living are very friendly and very helpful. I feel like they truly care about the residents and are willing to work with families that have unique situations. They keep the facility very clean and I always see staff members cleaning. They are very good about communicating with family. Although the move in process was easy, it was a little awkward because we had to move everything in from the front door where guests were. It would have been nicer to be able to use a back entrance or access. The only suggestion I would have would be to add more staff. My mother is Memory Care and I often see 1 to 2 staff caring for 10-15 residents. I don't think this is enough. Overall, I would recommend Alta Vista Senior Living to others.

My loved one was previously a resident at Chesapeake Place Senior Living. They tried their best to help make our loved one's transition a smooth one. However, they were understaffed and overworked with a very high turnover and the worst communication I have ever dealt with with any business. They are aware of their challenges and are trying to make things better. However, we didn't have time for them to make the necessary changes. After 3 months, we moved our loved one to another facility.

We were shown a room and received one I would have refused. All but 2 staff are very friendly and helpful. Quality of care is questionable. Meals started off decent but the food is slop now and it was better in prisons I worked in. Activities are few and far between unless you like bingo. Value for cost is you get what you pay for and I will be relocating parents elsewhere once Medicaid kicks in. Do not send your loved ones here as it appears that there are financial problems and suddenly half the staff is gone or leaving. I regret choosing this place.

Glad to hear that you are updating the inside facility. The outside locations and landscaping should also be updated. I feel that appearance of the outside is important and gives a more favorable view of the whole place.

The independent living situation is fine however I would not recommend the memory care unit because they do not have a nurse on staff and I was charged for level 3 care in that unit and my mom did not get the service I was paying for. I tried to set up an appointment with the director and she said she would get back to me and never did. It is too difficult to get a bandaid from a med tech because they aren't around when you need them and the medication issues I had did not only happen to me. It happened to my friend's mom too. I discovered the medical issues with my mom's declining health and had to sought out care from home health care. The staff says they will take care of things and they don't always follow through. My mom's bathroom was seriously neglected by housekeeping. She had pink mold in the shower, black grout on the floors and a filthy stained toilet, and overflowing trash without a liner. My mom had developed athletes foot and had an ulcer on the bottom of her foot. A memory care patient can't remember to bring those issues to the staff's attention so I had to. Also, the maintenance man never takes care of the requests when orders have been put in. My mom's vertical blinds have over 13 slats missing, and there are screws missing on the outlets switch plates, and a ceiling light is not secured. Again, I approached the director about the blinds and bought blackout drapes and asked if I could put them up and she took a picture of the drapes and said she would talk to maintenance to see if we could and said she would get back to me and never did. If I hadn't been as involved I am positive my mom would have already passed.

Pacifica is a very nice and beautiful long-term assisted living facility. We happened to have two month respite needs, which Pacifica certainly provided. Respite care is more immediate than most of the residents require. While not bad, we struggled a bit to pin down the scheduling of showers and lookins. Issues with the television arose because each resident provides their own provider. The respite room was lacking in options provided. Medications were always on time and correct. Dining rooms are very nice. Food was much more processed than fresh. Overall, the staff and management were great and friendly.

The staff members are great except for [name removed] she receives a 2 out of 5 and the director receives a 3 out of 5. When it comes to the quality of care the staff members step up when they are pushed. The meals and dining service are very good at take care of what you need. We cannot rate the activities due to our loved one not being able to attend. I think they do a lot of great work, this is not an easy business.
