Pacifica Senior Living

This place is a holding cell, but maybe others are not much better. As one of the nicest staff members told me.."they don't get better." The staff is nice, but not much stimulation or anything - but the residents are pretty much "gone" and gradually getting worse.

The director does not communicate well and they are understaffed, especially in the evenings. The food in the brochure is not what is served. It's not gourmet by any means. They run out of food that's on the menu all the time. They have activities but lately the activity will say "self ran". They need to encourage residents to be active and do more hands on activities to facilitate relationships inside the facility so they are not lonely. My loved one is very lonely there. She said nobody participates in anything.

Part of the experience was on my mom. She went to Chesapeake Place with the attitude that she wasn't going to participate. She only went to the dining hall a few times and wanted her meals brought to her room. She didn't extend herself as far as making friends or participate in any activities. She entered hospice care the last few months she was there and we had issues getting the staff to follow the nurses instructions on feeding and food preparation. Like most of these facilities they were short handed and mom had to wait quite a while for response to her call button. The night staff nurse seemed to be more attentive on checking on her and giving medication. I did not experience any rudeness or lack of professionalism with the daily staff but some of the admin staff was not very responsive. My sister actually contacted their corporate office and reported them. The main issue after she entered hospice was lack of attentiveness and assistance with eating and the food preparation. She was supposed to have puréed food or food that was cut into small pieces and staff was to assist in feeding. They continued to give her "regular" food and would just drop off her tray and leave. She also experienced several falls while there. Staff would come in and find her in the floor. People told us that these facilities don't like it when residents are in hospice because they feel they are being "watched." I don't know if that was the case but it did seem that the staff did not appreciate the hospice nurses. Several of the nurses did state that they had some difficult interactions with the staff.

At this point in their experiment I would not recommend them. I am leaving in 2 weeks to go back to regular apartment living. SCG did not live up to their statements in their agreement. We had housekeeping for only 2 of the 14 or so weeks I lived here. The Main Lounge has been closed for renovation for approx 9 weeks and is still closed. The food menu is (according to my dietary understanding) not good for seniors. Sausage for breakfast 4 mornings each week. No fresh fruit is served. A lot of starchy meals are served which are cheaply produced. The bus service provided for shopping, medical appts and trips is a laugh. Each of 2 buses seat 12 people. SCG has about 200 tenants. How can they get away from the place just for a few hours. When I realized THEY were not going to change, it was up to me if I was going to be happy in my final years. So on the 16th October, I am leaving. No regrets, just learning.

My overall view is limited because I'm not here, but she does tell me that she is bored that the staff is not engaging and she feels like she is in a prison. I realize she wants to be home, but that is not possible so a lot of this may be because she just wants to be home. The facility is very clean. Her separate room is not so clean. A few of the staff members are friendly however, as far as I can see none of them really engage with her they say hello and then sit on the side. As far as the quality of care, she seems healthy. Meals are served three times a day and she enjoys them. There are not very many activities. I know the activities Director has been changed a few times. And I can't really comment on the value or the cost because I really don't know what other places are

Ask a lot of questions and see if they follow through. I was told some things that never happened and no one knew why I was told that. I think there could be a lot more communication with family than there is. Just interested in collecting the money. I would recommend them, only to a degree.

Toward the end of my mom's life while at Pacifica, my family's experience went somewhat downhill. A lack of clear communication and transparency were the contributing factors. The staff assigned to my mom's cottage were kind and hard working. It was with the administration that my family had a few issues. The facility is set up well and the floor plan thoughtful. The daily activities were numerous and there were plenty of family events as well. The grounds surrounding each cottage contained walking paths that eventually led right back into the cottage. My mom liked and utilized the walking paths often.

My mother recently passed [date removed] however the care that she received while staying here was adequate. She started out in independent living and was transferred to memory care where she lived until she passed. The staff seemed stretched thin and flustered at times and I would get different answers from people at different times when I would ask for updates. I appreciated their willingness to work with my mother's financial restrictions.

Their communication could use improvement. Mother-in-law had COVID and we were not informed until after she recovered. Some staff are very friendly and others are a bit standoffish. I cannot comment on this as I don't visit during mealtime and I cannot speak to this as my mother-in-law is not involved in any of them. The level of cost is quite expensive and doesn't change if the resident goes on hospice, which I believe should be lower

Beautiful community without much shopping. They have a lovely exterior and a two bedroom available at the time and had residential space available. Not much transportation available and the no transportation except a house bus so without a car I feel trapped.

They took great care of her while she was alive and called Hospice to help take care of her but the administrative aspect regarding billing and follow up after she passed was poor. She was only there for 2 months before she passed.

They seem to have a lot of turnover with the staff. Makes it hard to feel comfortable with the level of care. Recently their management team has been transitory as well and that has left a lot of residents feeling uneasy about their futures there. Consistency would be the number one thing to improve the meals. You can order the same thing two days in a row and it's completely different each day. The standard everyday options are also somewhat limited.

Tampa Gardens Senior Living is a big space, and sometimes hard to find help when you need it. Th staff can be slow to respond to call button. Institutional food served cold which his far from 1st class.

Had very high expectations for the level of care and accommodations at Pacifica Forest Trace memory care facility, even paid more than we were able to afford but we are sadly dissatisfied with the lack of care they have for their residents. Caregivers and nurses do not seem to genuinely care. Communication with management is very poor. We are looking to move my loved one from there.

Not everything that is mentioned during the sales pitch is what happens. My Sister feels like it is hard for her to find someone when she needs them. Most of the staff is awesome. But I was treated rudely by one of the staff. They told us the residents would be having outings twice a month. She has been there for 2 months and has had only one outing.

There are limited staff available, and they are stretched thin. Turnover is a major issue. Based off of our experience there, I could not recommend Meridian at Laguna Hills.

I understand memory care is expensive but having 2 nurses for a memory care floor just doesn't seem like enough. I've had to do bathroom duty for my mom when I visit because I can't find a nurse to help. That's what we are paying for. I would recommend this community to other families, because overall it's a good place.

The staff at Pacifica Senior Living Spring Valley was caring and kind. They communicated fine, when asked. The meals appeared to be fine and of good quality. The move in process was easy.

Mom is very unhappy because her rent has doubled and the food is not as good or as plentiful since West Park was bought by a new company. They close the facility at 6 PM every night. So, if we bring her back later, we have to practically break in.

The units were spacious and conveniently located. The community is green and lovely with a nice pool, tennis courts and activities. My mother was in assisted-living, but my opinion it's an ideal setting for active retirees in independent living.
