My comments for #7: my dad is in the memory care unit and they don't do much of anything for them for activities. I feel they should at a minimum, take them outside to get fresh air and that never happens. Facebook posts all of the fun activities, but that is for non-memory care residents. More care should be taken to work individually and engage with those in memory care to help them because many are nonverbal. Before we moved him here I was told that they do work individually with memory care residents to help engage their talking and memory, but that isn't the case. We moved him here so he could be around others since he was lonely at home, and because I saw all the events they planned for them, but the memory care residents aren't included in those generally.

The staff is nice but they need maintenance workers. Asked for things like screen repair on windows and never gets done. Also they have only one elevator working since my mom moved in on [date removed]. Second broken elevator still not fixed after more than 4 months!! Umbrellas broken on outdoor front patio that were never replaced so residents have no shade if they want to sit outside.

Caregivers are very good! Food is ok, options are good Ceilings are paper thin; nerve wracking to constantly hear upstairs neighbor. Bobier is a busy street, lots of noise and sirens Rooms are quite large; nice

They need to be a little more transparent, especially regarding the activities. The rooms are not op to standards, broken patio doors, broken screen doors that never get fixed they way they should. Back up water in showers and toilets. Short staff or no staff for maintenance.

I would tell others to be assertive with the management to get back to you if you have any questions of complaints!

The admin changed about a year ago and the care has gone down. For instance, they haven't had hot water since [date removed]. I don't know if the new admin will bring up the care or not. But, it isn't a par right now. They should do more mobility activities like chair yoga and light weight training.

Communication is big. The staff I don't know is fully attentive because we went in on Mother's Day to visit her and she was soaked in urine and we told them that the chair was wet and nobody clean the chair

The staff changed more than once recently. No one is responsible for answering the phone. They take too long to cash checks. The room is not cleaned often or efficiently.

What I liked most was the cleanliness and friendliness. Didn't care for all of the strict rules.

They had a great sales pitch but, the reality of the situation was different than the promised. We were very disappointed. And our sister ended up in the hospital as a result of their care.

Sadly their bus broke down in November. Recently they got a van that is not handicapped equipped. Residents have been having to pay 20-40$ to get to store or doctors. No lunches or outings. Vet y sad.

The tour was eventful and though complete was not what I was looking for in a facility. I do appreciate the time of the staff member who showed me around. They were informative friendly and very kind.

They have up front pricing. The rooms to what i have seen are ok ,meals are ok to what he tells me. I can't speak for all ,but the staff I come in verbal contact ,seem caring.

Care givers need to be aware of patients. The facility is cheap comparatively.

They are badly understaffed and quality service not great. At times its adequate, at other times its poor. The food is not that good. The food can be on the cooked or uncooked side, they don't have enough servers so the food comes to the table cold and that makes it unappitizing. They recently had a Norovirus outbreak and did not tell the families by text for 3 days.

The meals and dining as well as the activities gets a 0. Food sucked per my dad. His biggest complaint. However, I recommend the place. It worked out well.

They could improve upon a lot. Right now they're going through bankruptcy so it's hard to know what's going to happen moving forward. They need better leadership, more maintenance staff, better food, more activities for the truly active people (plenty for more of the less active or disabled folks right now). They have good communication. The people who work there are VERY nice. They also make sure they hear from every resident in the morning (via a button they have to push) so I know my mom is safe at the very least. But it needs an overhaul and better infrastructure. It takes a long time to get maintenance to come because they are understaffed. Also, they have zero accommodations for people who are hard of hearing (like my mom) so that has been challenging. And the acoustics in the dining hall are terrible. Even for people who can hear! And they are building another tower so they will definitely need to get it together before bringing in more residents. But overall I'd say it's just "fine". It could be great and hopefully will be under new ownership! I can't say that I absolutely don't recommend it, but I do recommend that people really do their homework.

I like most that they are friendly and inviting and I feel mom is genuinely cared for. They could definitely improve on food being more nutritious, physical activities and getting the residents outside, communication to family members about the residents.

The place looks beautiful and welcoming. The other residents were friendly. It was more "independent living" than assisted living. Unfortunately my mom was left alone in her room for long periods and wasn't checked on frequently. My mom needed more assistance, so she transferred to memory care which has been a better fit. I wish San Martin was more proactive in getting residents to socialize around meal times. Many residents sit alone. I didn't see staff being very social with the residents, or even each other. There was as a lack of community in the building.
