The chef is wonderful at this community, they are always serving fresh and delightful food. The cleanliness of my loved ones room is mediocre, defiantly has room for improvement. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in need of additional care for there loved one.

My Mother Is Doing Well

My mother is doing well here at community. They are caring for her and needs pretty well. It is a very well maintained community. The staff have been very good to work with. They do offer activities for their residents. The food is fair, they do serve well balanced meals. I'am comfortable with the care they provided. I would recommend this facility.

Feels like home!!

My mom is doing well since moving into Brookdale Central Whittier. I have even recommended the community to a friend. The staff are very friendly and attentive to the residents. It is an older building and the only complaint I have is that the elevators are small. She likes the food and they have a variety to choose from. They offer activities to the residents, however my mom does not participate in them.

A great choice for your loved ones...

Although our father was only there for a short period of time due to his passing, the time he was there was really great and I really wish that he had been able to have been there longer. The staff were very nice and everyone knew his name even though he hadn't been there very long. My dad had lots of needs like incontinence care, escort service, help with getting dressed & undressed, taking his meds, showering & going to the bathroom, and the Regency Park Astoria staff were able to help him with all of these needs...with a smile. The facility is clean. The residents seem to be really happy. And the pricing was very affordable. I actually work for a competitor in the Pasadena area, so I speak from experience when I say that RPA is a very well run assisted-living community.

Emeritus at Whittier

I loved A Place for Mom. Ed was so helpful in giving me the names of places and even setting up appointments. It was such a difficult decision and he really helped. I chose Emeritus at Whittier and my mom loves it and it's only been a week! A Place for Mom should be used for everyone who needs help.

Very nice place, overall

Overall we had a good experience with Emeritus at Chatsworth! The staff were all very friendly, caring, and very efficient when it came to helping out their residents! The facility itself is always clean and well kept, and the individual rooms are attractive. The medication service was very accessible, and for the most part very reliable as well. The only disappointment ended up being the food. They talked it up quite a bit, and while the presentation and menu selection were good, the quality itself could have used improvement.

Great staff, very knowledgeable and helpful

My mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia last year and after having in home health care, we decided to move her to an assisted living facility to increase her activities. I spent the first 4 days and nights with her (they were very nice for letting me stay for so many days in a row). I thought everyone was very helpful and patient with my mother and knowledgeable on how to handle her moments of confusion. When I called to have something fixed in her room, they were quick to come and very friendly and helpful. The activities were good but I found out quickly that my mother didn't have the ability to concentrate as well as some of the other residents, so it was difficult for her to be involved in some of the activities. Unfortunately, we also decided that my mom was more advanced in her dementia and would be better suited in a retirement home with less residents so she could get more ongoing care. But for residents with physical limitations, this is a great place and they have great staff working to try and make the experience the best it could be. I would like to go there once I need to move!!

We really liked this one. Athina, the head person who shows you around, really let us see all the rooms. It was a two story building. My sister, who is a retired social worker, said that was just too much navigating for Helen. Athina really worked to find us a room that would make Helen's world smaller and more manageable there in the end we just felt it was too large.

My time at the Villas of San Bernardino

Most of my caregivers are very helpful. Most of the time that I ring for help a caregiver arrives promptly. There have been times that they are short handed and it takes longer then expected to get assistance. The dining room does get a bit noisy for me, it’s hard to hear conversations. Meals on the weekly schedule are good and bad, but the soups are always excellent. You have lots of good alternate choices if you don’t like the scheduled meal. I like the exercise programs like bible study, crafts, bingo, dominos and the live entertainment. I love my large private room. And the tv cable provided has a large selection of options to watch.

Experienced feedback

My mom was in memory care, the facility and her room were super clean, the staff friendly, the food without salt of course. They are probably understaffed as I had to help a lady in a wheelchair get to her room and go to the bathroom and the staff member I told that she will need help getting up said "that's not my job". They celebrate holidays and fun things but most entertainment was a tv constantly on in the community room. I liked how they helped residents dress for each day. There are no activities for dementia. My mom was a walker and walked the halls and into others rooms day and night. They really aren't equipped/staffed to handle that behavior. There is an interview process before your accepted into the facility which is good so they accept the right folks. There were no clients that were loud or noisy. There was a client who passed away and one of the staff was sad about it. Its a lovely facility, I love how even memory care folks can go out into the courtyard so there's a little freedom. Would I choose them again? Absolutely I just wish tv wasn't such a large part of their lives and they had a better way to cope with wandering active folks

Visiting my mom

I have asked for a Dr to see her because she was having back pain and that did not happen. Also I was told a Dr would come see her to access her for a walker through her insurance I made an appointment for my mom’s hair for last Friday and the hairdresser cancelled and said she would do it Monday I texted her today to see if she did her hair and now she said she won’t be in until next week
