Options For Senior America

It was a ruff start for us, but everything is working out very well now. We have an amazing care giver, she is excellent at what she does. My father really enjoys when she comes to help him. Our experiences has been good so far. I would recommend this home care, they have been great.

So far everything is going okay, my mother wasn't very happy with the fact that we are on our third CNA. I understand that CNA's move on she just doesn't like the fact the this the third. I like my mothers environment a certain way due to the fact she has dementia and I don't know if the agency speaks with the CNA's before they come to inform them of this due to the fact I've had a few concerns about the way they been doing things. The CNA's are nice and friendly but I just feel my standards are a little higher.

Its the onlyu alternative to a facility for my mom, and that is something I think would kill her

Working with this particular agency has been a pretty good experience. Although my Mom doesn't want the help she really needs it and it gives me a peace of mind knowing someone is there to help her when I am not. They have been very accommodating and very flexible with scheduling which I really appreciate. I would highly recommend them!

They were nice to deal with. The only problem was that for a while they were late all the time. Other than that, the friendliness and care services were excellent. The care givers they sent were very friendly. They did a good job at taking care of my loved one. The value could be a little better. Overall, a pretty good experience. The cleanliness and activities are not applicable because they send the care givers to my home.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. While they tried to match the right person neither of the two workedout for my family. We needed someone to cook and unfortunately it did not work. Although I did not find a match. I would reccomend this agency to anyone looking for care for the elderly.

The reason why I selected Options for Senior America in Bel Air, MD was because of their prompt response to my inquiries. Diane and Erin have been instrumental in finding a companion for my mother. While I don't understand the screening process I feel that interviews should be conducted by the families to determine if the care provider is a good fit and not waste everyone's time sending out people that are not. The overall experience so far has been pretty good and it gives us all a peace of mind that someone is there to keep my mother company and take her out of the house periodically.

The one that I’m using out of Manassas with Michelle as the director – she’s amazing. They haven’t missed any appointments. When our main caregiver needed to go on vacation they sent a replacement, but that was all pre-arranged.

I plan to talk to the Director today to see if we can make final arrangements to get help for my brother. He has not been easy to work with. I talked to him yesterday and told him that we have to take care of this now. I will try to get this settled. I will keep you advised.

Most likely to begin with aides here. Flexible and don't require alot of paperwork for private pay.

We've been working with Options For Senior America for quite some time now and things were great at first. It was after working with them for a while and going from a caregiver that we loved to mediocre service from others. My parents loved the original caregiver that they had because she went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable. Since she's been gone they constantly have to stay on top of the caregivers in order for them to do anything other than sit there. It has been really frustrating. I don't think that at this point I would refer them to anyone.

Very nice people to "deal" with. Only concern was there billing department sent wrong rates on the invoices. Also invoices are only sent by email. I have my wife in a home and hospital with MS and have been caring for my Dad and Mom now. I do not open my email sometimes for 3-4 days. It would be nice if Options for Senior America also did paper invoices.

It's hard to know because I don't have a lot of different experience but i don't like the way the billing's managed. I feel like it's a bit hard to understand and I would much rather do a month at a time, it makes more sense to me and I suppose that's the biggest thing and that it's not local. We only have one care giver and she's worked out very well. I haven't been in a situation where I needed to have more people than that, for the 3 days that she comes and her approach and her background as far as working with us, that's worked out really well. I can't give it a 5 because I don't really know what would be perfect, I think all the needs are met for what we need and there's some flexibility, maybe eventually have somebody who can stay for overnight or more long term when I need to go out of town. I think it takes a little bit of time to really get a routine down but it's worked out very well and I think the person that has come in has helped that happen.

Unfortunately, [Name Removed] the aide assigned to [Name Removed], was a "no call, no show" this morning. Furthermore, last Friday, I received a call from the morning of her shift asking to change the schedule to suit her own needs rather than my father's. Due to these reliability and scheduling issues, I no longer wish to continue with their services.

We finally found the caregiver that were using now all the time after going through five of them. Most couldn't speak English well at all or understand English, so it was very difficult to communicate. Two of the caregivers just up and decided to walk out leaving the patient by herself in the house! She was by herself for 35 minutes until I could get there. Now nothing happened but she's bedridden if there would have been a fire or if she would have needed something ASAP she was alone no one was there she was by herself. Unacceptable! The caregiver that we use permanently is good, she takes care of[name removed] well, she's kind and considerate. But I think we would be hard-pressed to find any other caregiver that you guys use that is like that. Every time [name removed] goes on a week away the caregivers that come in are horrible again most of them can't speak English or understand English well at all.

The customer service at Options is not very good. They are supposed to notify us if there is any change in caregivers but rarely do. The caregivers that they send over vary from very experienced to no experience. One of them spent all weekend on her phone and gave our Mom none of her medications.

It took three tries before we found someone who worked well with my wife. The administrative personnel were not easy to work with and we had to escalate the issues to a much higher level twice in the last four months

Improvement suggestions: games, puzzles, word searches, etc. that will stimulate the mind, help with memory. As well as card games, instead of tv, to pass the time. Thank you.

I didn't have the best experience. Staffers coming late, not clocking in with app, also leaving a few minutes early. Next person was pushy but her help was appreciated. One person came out of uniform in spandex pants. Last Staffers had a sick child at home. Things happen I understand, but it was very busy for a two week assignment

The caretaker they have been send recently is great but we have had some that were terrible. Some of them were so determined To help only my husband and not me that they made me fell unsafe in my own home. One of them sent me to the hospital by opening windows in the winter in both bedroom and bath when I was in the shower. The breakage rates were awful. Some had very little common knowledge: like how to slice an apple so most of the seeds were not put on my husband's plate.
