Friendly Staff

The overall experience would be higher but some communication issues and a lot of turnover.....We have no issues. Place is clean. The staff are very friendly for the most part, especially ones that are there for a while. The care services are very good for the most part. The activities would be a 5 but again turn over. Compared to other places very reasonable.

Average at best

They don’t have individualized meals not even salt restriction. They expect the residents to do their own. My mother really doesn’t like the food. However, the people in the dining room are very eager to please when they serve. The remaining staff can be nice. It depends on which day you catch them. The rooms are not cleaned very well and once a week is not sufficient. Unlike other states, there is not a RN on staff( no where in Ga).

Oaks at Evans review

We liked the size of facility and the friendliness of the staff. We disliked management overriding the food services order without notification. One statement I overheard was that we didn't require the quality of food ordered. That was our problem with the food service the quality was poor and no consideration for diabetics which accounted for about 60% of the residents. There I used pre cooked meals to support my meals. Charges continued to climb even when Director who recruited had told us in August that there would be no increase costs due to a profit. Within two months my rate increased by 10%. There were no improvements implemented. I was very disappointed with corporate with these changes that were not included in my contract. There many other instance where they continuously overridden local management. This led to qualified constantly leaving their employment. Bluntly stated, the landscaping was just glorified grass cutting service. I supplemented by purchasing blooming flowers which many residents acknowledge their joy for my contribution . We are older but our quality of life was not much concern of corporate management. Other facilities in the area do a better job in the above areas with little very much difference in cost. I am no longer at the Oaks due to decisions made by corporate management.

Not recommended

The facility is very small. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they didn't have an activities director until recently and then the nursing lead left, and apparently the shuttle driver/handyman was fired or quit. Communication with us wasn't great when my mom's medication was about to run out, so that was delayed for a few days. I would not recommend Oaks at Tucker to others. We moved my mom out after a month.

Our Experience

My mom was previously a resident at Oaks at Seneca. The girls were amazing, they loved my mom and really treated her like she was their mom. During her last days, I spent most of the days with her, I left to go home and shower when I would come back one of the girls were sitting with her. I just wasn't impressed with the few that were in charge.

Just in the year my mom has been there, all of the original staff I dealt with arranging for her to come to this facility have been replaced. Recommending would depend on the needs of the individual in question. For example, if they are looking to age in place through hospice, this is not the place.

Retraining and teachable moments

Moms been @ the facilty 2 months due to high turnover it seems organization, retraining and structure is needed my mom was being released from the hospital there was no one answering the phones hospital was unable to communicate the release information.when I arrived with mom all seemed well had to roll mom in on an office chair I was later told the facility does not provide wheelchair service you are responsible to provide your own . Who knew, I want to believe things will turn around for the better for mom's sake. I don't want to move her again. the staff seem nice but that doesn't excuse the insecurity I feel regarding other errors. made.

My husband has been there since late [date removed]In two months, the sales rep, nurse, activity director, manager, and others are no longer there. The turnover is shocking. The activities have been very thin like Bingo, and the residents are bored and aimless. The food is okay but very limited on fresh greens etc That said, most of the employees are warm and welcoming and efficient. [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], several are excellent. [name removed] is new and trying to bring in some activities. She seems very nice. Review for Oaks at Shiloh Point

I picked this community because I saw good reviews. They made all kind of promises. A pharmaceutical company put five bottles of boost in your refrigerator. I did not order them. My wife did not drink them. They were still there when I left, and the people at the at the assisted-living would not help me a bit.

Our Experience

Since mid August, the administration there has completely changed. Very difficult to get hold of them. Very poor communication. They don't return calls. Regular staff are very nice and sweet. Trash seems to frequently be overflowing in the apartment. Move in was very easy! They have a menu for the day, but a lot of times the meals will change without notice. Few condiments are offered. Meals are fair quality, some better than others. I believe residents are afraid to speak up? I hope the administration that is in there now will start to get more organized, hire a better cook and be more in contact with families in returning calls. The activities director is very hands on for those that want to participate and very sweet. Physical therapist is wonderful! Friendly atmosphere, beautiful facility!

Found the right fit!

Overall our loved one says she loves where she is at Oaks at Cedar Shoals, and that is all she needs. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

Friendliness of staff. They need activities for residents in memory care.

Do not recommend, look elsewhere

They say they have craft and other activities like field trips, but I'm not sure she has had a single one. The majority of their patients have severe dementia and difficulty communicating. Our grandmother has dementia, but can still care for herself and communicate well. She just forgets what she talked about. There is a separate, assisted living type area in the front of the building and the people within that area had much nicer furnishings. I'm sure much much nicer food, but they were also able to speak and talk and remember. That area is more expensive and I'm sure it's all out-of-pocket there. The price is great, but the staff and management seem to careless. We asked them to add a light bulb to the fixture in her room by adding a working bulb, it had not been taken care of the last time I was there (about 2 to 3 months or so). It still hasn't been repaired despite speaking with upper management. Her room has been very dull and kind of depressing. You are also responsible for bringing your own furniture that includes the bed and dressers any side tables any furniture that comes in there and you're responsible for bringing your own bed linens and towels. There was a cabinet hanging off of its hinge in her bathroom that I'm not sure has been repaired yet. We discussed that concern multiple times with no follow up. It was just above the toilet, so if you were not careful when you stood up or sat down the corner of the cabinet door would hit you in the head. It literally just goes on and on. I gave in and took her glasses to her and they are gone. The facility has no idea where they are. BUT! We are about to get out of there! Amen! I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
