I had relatives live here. The transportation that they promised is notoriously unreliable. They will leave your 82 year old relative waiting for a ride back home. Important medical appointments have been missed. They are dismissive then say they only have one driver for the entire community. This happened routinely and we eventually had to move. The food is gross for anyone remotely interested in fresh food. [Names Removed] in admin, will never respond promptly, if at all. They routinely overbilled. My relative got food poisoning twice. It was an enormous disappointment. If you rely on assisted living for transport, communication of any sort, or edible food, go elsewhere. Seriously. I don't know how this place gets any more than 1 star.

Read the reviews—see yelp and google reviews they are red flags, not isolated complaints. I’m writing this in real time while actively trying to move my family member out and get as far away from this place as possible. The fish stinks from the head, and the problem here is clearly leadership. The Executive Director is rude, dismissive, and at times outright mean. Families are treated like inconveniences, not partners in care. My loved one is visibly more unhappy each time I visit. On a recent visit, I heard a resident crying for an extended period with no staff present. That alone tells you everything about oversight. I also ate there once—the food was watered down and barely edible. This place feels driven by money, not care. Staff seem unhappy, units are sitting empty, and residents are leaving. Do your homework—and look elsewhere.

You do not want to put your loved one here for Assisted Living. This facility is definitely just for Independent living. The expectation is you will be up, dressed and ready to go to the dining restaurant by 0800 for breakfast or you are not a good fit for this facility. I was told this by[Name Removed] after the first night stay for our loved one. Before admitting our loved one. I asked for the highest level of care to be given and paid for it, with Assisted Living, which Brenda then down-graded to a level 3 after assessing her. Then after being admitted, then to not even receive a bed bath cleaning until day 7, upon which I demanded a cleaning prior to discharge. I was told that Bonaventura does not provide Skilled Care, and bed bath cleanings are not offered or given in Assisted Living. Would ask for help with brushing teeth and brushing hair. Would be told "in just a minute, we will help you," only to be forgotten. Meals missed, phone was never installed, portable oxygen tanks left empty.

The facility itself is very nice and updated. The representative was not very knowledgeable about the facility layout or the activities as she was a traveling director of marketing. She would not answer my questions regarding cost of care and explaining the different care levels available. She would not disclose how many staff to resident ratio they require, which is very concerning. I did not see staff in the facility. A few residents arrived at the front desk wanting to discuss living issues and the front desk called to find out where the staff member was and instead of the staff member coming to address the issue, she sent the residents up to go find the staff member. The residents did not seem very happy about that. No one smiled at the facility. The representative I dealt with was very "used car salesman" like. I did not care for the " sales pitch". I understand it is a for profit business, but the residents must come first. I would nit recommend this facility.

I really wish I had read the reviews before I put my mom in memory care here. What we were promised when we toured is definately not what we got. This facility is very expensive and the memory care unit is not a safe place for anyone who requires advanced care. My mom has been here for 1 month and has fallen 4 times. 2 times required hospital stays. NOT O.K. the facility seems more concerned about taking your money then providing care. It seems to be working for them as we still have to pay the high rent and she isnt even there (she's in the hospital). ( pretty easy money for them at the cost of my Moms wellbeing) Just wanted to warn you all before you make the same mistake.

I came in after 8 to see a resident there. I was from out of State. I was a relative. I got treated like garbage by the staff. Seems very controlling and unhappy there. Very into themselves, and just ripping off older residents for their money. Everything is overpriced, and my relative even had to pay for having their dinner taken to their room.

Honestly we like the staff and facility. But their Sales representative never fulfilled her promise of 1 month free rent if we joined. We feel she is dishonest and will fool the elderly in believing her.

I found them very unorganized. They accepted my sister to come from Rehab into the facility. They cashed her [removed dollar amount] deposit and the day before she was to come there they said they can't accept her because her sugar was too high which it was high because of Rehab, she was not eating right or taking insulin the way she does at home so it took me a while to get that back, but I have all the frustrations of filling out all the forms and going through all this for them to say that the day before really upset us, we had to find another place in the day

Short staffed and poorly trained staff; promises not kept. Train staff to be more kind, more considerate, more welcoming, smile and show warmth, not stand at the doorway and yell out 'what do you want', be patient, get up close so they can hear and be heard.

Yes, it's a lovely place. However, for the money, the services (which they advertise as above and beyond what other facilities provide) do not match up. I have been there when the staff was rude or intolerant of my mother's dementia. When she moved in, promises were made regarding care, speed of response when summoned, professional training of staff, etc, etc. None of it was true. I was there when my mother summoned help to the bathroom and I had to take her because no one came. Other times it would take over an hour (they say 10 minutes), and when I asked to see a response report (when the call pendant went off and when the caregiver responded), I never got one. Always an excuse. The ED is hardly ever there, because corporate has her otherwise engaged at other facilities The ED is guilty of having family members doing tasks that Oakmont staff are getting paid for. Staff steal personal items from residents and money, & nothing is done about it.

We removed my father after 3 weeks. It was not the right place for us. They were in the middle of ownership change so they were understaffed and my father was left in limbo. The facility lives more like an independent living vs assisted living with unsecure exit doors. In order to make it easier for them, they put him in memory care vs allowing him time to adjust. There was not a care plan in place until 3 days after he moved in. When we met to talk about our plan, they put him on the spot with an assessment and told us his Alzheimer's was severe vs the moderate we were told 2 weeks earlier.

I'm not very happy with Oakmont. I requested a copy of the assessment that my sister received for [amount removed] and never received it. My sister refused to go after 2 attempts. We canceled the room at the end of Sept. Now we are getting only a portion of the community fee and we lost the cost of the rent [amount removed]Very sad because we never had any help explaining how to get her to go.

I was excited about ivy park when I placed my wife there last March, but they didn't seem to be able to handle the aggression portion of alzheimer's. They let her lay in bed soaked with urine rather than deal with her not wanting to get up. I would never recommend ivy park for any alzheimer's patient. Overall my rating is 0. The place is kept clean. The staff do their best to clean up any mess. All of the staff were friendly. Again I was disappointed in the quality of care since they left her in bed soaked rather than deal with her not wanting to get up get dressed. I was able to work with the administration until they decided that my wife's aggression was beyond the ability of their staff and she required a 1 on 1 caregiver 24/7 and she had to be aggression free for 2 weeks before they would reevaluate her to determine if she could stay. Plus they wanted 2 weeks prior to the 2 week aggression free period for her medication change to take effect. At $[removed]per hour that was an unreasonable amount to pay for a chance she could stay. The food that I tried was very flavorful and appeared nutritional. They did some activities with the residents and brought in local musicians, but most of the memorycare residents were not brought to the area since they had to be escorted. This is hard to say since I feel the care was inadequate therefore the value was lacking. This is just my personal opinion based on my observations and the situation with them, reportedly being a memory care facility, not being able to handle aggression that is very much a part of alzheimer's disease.

I would rate my experience with Ivy Park at a NEGATIVE 2. It was an absolute nightmare. WE decided to move [name removed] (my wife's mother) into Ivy Park after my wife decided she could no longer care for her. Someone from Ivy Park came out and did an assessment. At that point it was a dementia issue and everything seemed fine. However, before she moved in, [name removed] fell and we need to have paramedics take her to Washington Township Hospital on [date removed]. This is where the nightmare began. We questioned whether Ivy Park could still care for her she was completely bedridden and could not sit up or use the bathroom on her own. However, a representative from Ivy Park came to the hospital and again reassured us that Ivy Park could take care of her., Making matters worse, the attending physician, [name removed], told us that she could NOT go to an skilled nursing facility because she did not have "the right insurance", even though we were willing to pay out of pocket for it. So, when [name removed] was discharged from the hospital on [date removed], we moved her to Ivy Park. We also signed up for hospice care. We signed up for the highest level of care, bringing the cost to around $[removed]/month. My wife noticed when she was signing papers that the rules at Ivy said, "no bedridden patients". She asked the person at Ivy who said that this was a "grey area" and that we had nothing to worry about. We were concerned the moment she moved in because she was in constant duress. After one day, Ivy called us and told us that they were raising the cost of her car by $[removed]/month... AFTER ONE DAY!!! At this point began seeking out skilled cursing facilities on our own, since the hospital was not going to provide any assistance. We left a messages with two facilities. On [date removed], before we heard back from the nursing facilities, Ivy Park called and informed us that [name removed] had died. After getting partial refunds from Ivy, which took a very long time, we ended up paying Ivy Park about $[removed]for two days where she was in misery the whole time. Ivy Park clearly misrepresented what level of care they were able to provide. It was only the hospice nurse that provided any real care for her. My wife and I were seriously considering taking legal action against Ivy Park, [name removed], and even A Place for Mom, for the expenses we incurred and the misery that [name removed] was put through in her final days. We have decided against that; we just want the matter over and done with so that we can move on with our lives.

Overall experience 5 at first, 1 at the end. Mostly because of disgruntled family member who made things awkward. At first then I got shut off. Again because e left and family member stepped in and caused disconnect. Care services Great at first. When I was in town. But family members discouraged her walker use, saying it made her weak. She fell and broke her hip. Then she was moved out of her apartment with no communication. Again family member big part. Staff Great until they stopped talking to me. Meals seemed good. She never did anything. They seemed decent. They worked with us and have discounts. Still pricey

I would give The Courtyards a zero if I could. When I first toured the facility, it was all show — a complete dog and pony act. But once my brother in law was admitted, the reality set in. The staff is clearly not trained to handle challenging or uncomfortable situations. After just three days, my brother-in- law was sent to the hospital twice, and then told he could not return. Despite this, I was charged the full[amount removed]for the month. I was promised a partial refund, told it had been mailed — but weeks later, nothing. No check, no communication. My calls and emails have been completely ignored. When I went to collect his belongings, I found a pile of soiled clothing and discovered that items, including a new pair of shoes, were missing. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. Beware. the administrator I originally spoke with, seemed only interested in the money — and now refuses to return calls.

Never send anyone there ever!! The care givers and nurse are amazing but the director and management is a terrible nightmare. We just moved her out of there. They take advantage of old people's money, god forbid they get a little sick or need an extra med. my mom fell there 3x and broke 4 bones. By the time we left we were paying $[removed] a month. From $[removed] for care and rent to [removed]k in 1 year. Totally unreasonable. I might recommend if they have an unlimited budget but otherwise, heck NO! That only scratches the surface of all the issues we had w them. When my mom left she had matted hair and we had to cut her hair short. That's a pretty simple thing, brushing someone's hair.

Terrible experience. My husband's room was very dirty. Came in to visit and someone had shivered his wet sheets in the closet with his clean clothes. Male Night shift very combative with him. He fell out of his wheelchair when they were supposed to be watching him and he heard his arm so I had to take him to urgent care. This was in [date removed] and to this day his arm is still hurting him. I will never recommend the place they are understaffed . I could go on and on about everything that happened to him. I decided after two weeks I was taking him home . He is safe and clean.
