The place is wonderful but I encounter the most rude people who works ther 8 hrs a week. I am a private caregiver for one of the client and this is what happen I order breakfast for her and they delivered in 30 mins its wonderful. At lunch time I do the same thing I order for lunch 11:30am,I follow up my order after 35 mins they said “they will deliver there shortly, I follow up again 12:15 I call again to follow up because my client is really hungry and she needs to take meds so I offer my client if I can go downd to the Kitchen and pick up her food personally and she said I dont think they will allow you to get the good in the kitchen, they always delivered my food here. And one of the important thing I cannot leave her alone because she is totally blind and deap in case what happen to her its my responsibility, anyway 12:45 I call again and they said in 15 mins they dont place the order thats why and my client is really mad because she is hurgry and I keep telling her I m sorry because lunch time usually the busy hour for them. I call agaid at 1:45 and they said she will follow up almost 2:00 pm My client is really hungry finally they deliver 2:00 o’clock and the caregiver who works there his name is [name removed],he came with an angry face and he hand me the food and he said nxt time you should go down and pick up the food with loud tone if voice instead apologize he is rudely said who is your agency I will talk to the nurse and I will charge my your client for delivery and he turn back away fr me with an angry voice. I called the front desk and I will try to explain what happen and what [name removed] acting in frint of my client they dont listened to me, instead One of the employee came up to the room and her name is [name removed] and she said to my client can I talk to her outside for a while and she close the door and I said please dont close the door because she is not stable in he high chair eating and she excuse me I been working here for so long and I am her nurse..and she talks to me rudely instead of saying what exactly happens between me and the cg.I’m trying to explain my situation and she keeps bragging that dont you know I am also a director in this facility [name removed] said to me. So I answer her back “you dont need to tell me your position here yiu have to lusten each side and she said no no no I was there when you called and I can here your voice and said si many thing that I dont understand..I was so mad because how does she gets that position and she is rude and no manners .She said I have to respect my clients and she turns back away from me and I said “I do respect my client thats why I do everything to give her lunch on time, and I said for giving my client lunch food at 2:00pm its an abuse for erderly. and she turn back with bad looks.” For me its a horrible experience for 15 years as a caregiver , this is my first and last to work there and also I have a lot of clients that asking if where they can live in the future but absolutely nit reccommending that Atria Sunlake...very poor service 0 star for me

We were not happy with the care at this community. The staff did not take care of the needs and we were not happy with the staff. We did move our family member out of this community into another place where good care is now being received. I would not recommend this community to other families for the care of a loved one.

The Ad - Valley View Garden HAS BEEN recognized for consistently high ratings from residents and their families in 2013-2014. That was before it was sold and new management staff started running the front office. With a 1:15 ratio facility is no longer safe in my opinion.

My experience of this community was not a good one. They made a lot promises to me and didn't follow through with. They were over charging me for anything. There is no house keeping services. My room was not cleaned.I had to pay extra for the staff to walk to my dog, and they would walk him for 2 minutes. I wouldn't recommend this community to anybody.

Absolutely filthy. Their new Executive Director, [Removed] has taken over and it's not good. The place feels like a prison and he is the warden. They have no activities for the residents and not even enough staff to care for the 5 MC residents they have. They have hired a 3rd party company on site to care for some of the residents because they can't or won't and all these people do is follow the poor residents around like prison guards. The place looks abandoned and nothing is being taken care of. It's so dirty its disgusting and most the staff (if you can find any) is so apathetic it's heartbreaking to see the residents living in these conditions. Just awful care and management here! Bad vibe, depressing atmosphere, sad and poorly treated residents.

When my 82 year-old relative with dementia entered Sunrise, she was walking, she was continent, and she was able to feed herself. After a 6-day stay at Sunrise she was sent to a local “Geriatric Mental Health Services Hospital” for a behavior issue to "adjust" her medications. Near the end of my relative's stay at this hospital I contacted Sunrise to find out how they had been monitoring her progress. Sunrise staff never visited her to evaluate her progress, and they refused her return to Sunrise two days before her release. She is now in a wheelchair and needs help with all movement, she is incontinent and needs to wear diapers, and so shaky that she needs assistance with eating. I am receiving a reimbursement for about 1/3 of the funds paid to Sunrise. Our experience with Sunrise amounted to a lot of time, effort, and money for a 6-day stay that resulted in extremely negative consequences to my 82 year-old relative with dementia.

Do not move your aging parents or grandparents here! While the staff seems "nice" and "friendly" when your loved one is ready to move in, the staff is actually incompetent and rude to not only the residents but, to their family members as well. My grandmother resided in the Assisted Living section. When I went to visit her at meal time, the staff accused me of stealing her and other resident's food. They advised me that I was not "allowed" to sit with her at meal time, as there are a limited number of chairs and meals prepared. I did not come for the meal (which is crap!); I came to spend time with my grandmother. This "rule" should be changed and allow family members to spend time with their loved one at meal time, without having to take them to the larger dining room. If I'm not eating the food, I should not be required to pay to spend time with her. One day at lunch, my grandmother's requested hot meal was somehow missed by the kitchen staff and she was served a cold turkey sandwich with a bag of chips. If you think your family is well-fed, think again. The so called "salads" are usually one - I repeat- ONE leaf of lettuce with some canned fruit on top. For the price you pay for your loved on to live here, you would think the meals would be creative and incorporate all food groups. They do not - the food is tasteless and extremely salty. Forget about asking for anything other than water - the staff will tell you that it has too much sugar and you aren't allowed to have it. Hand-washing and personal hygiene is not a priority at Villa. My grandmother moved in with great health and now it is much worse since living here. Residents are not encouraged to wash their hands before meal time. Since the residents need additional assistance, they should be given hot sanitized towels before all meals to ensure influenza and other contagious symptoms are not spread throughout the facility. Instead, residents sit down and begin eating without washing their hands. This should be a top priority for this type of senior care facility. The staff at Villa requires payment for any and all additional care or services. Half of the time, I question whether they are actually performing these additional services. My grandmother's apartment has gone weeks without being vacuumed or cleaned. Dishes remain the sink and the trash is not emptied for days at a time. Do not bring any valuable clothing to Villa, as the laundry staff may never return the items to your loved one. My grandmother's undergarments have gone missing, causing her to have to wear disposable adult briefs. Residents are not encouraged to participate in activities, but rather to stay in their apartments alone. At this age, it is important for seniors to have social interaction and fun to avoid depression and loneliness. I attended an activity/performance with my grandmother at Villa and the residents looked like zombies. It was a musical performance and while I understand that some residents are immobile, others who are not were not encouraged to dance or participate. The activities schedule needs to be revamped. Although some residents find it fun, bingo and knitting are not mind stimulating activities and do not encourage socialization. I think that the staff should spend more time encouraging residents to participate than socializing amongst themselves. If you want to save yourself the headache and worry, avoid moving your loved one here at all costs.

I moved my parents into independent living when they first opened up in 2012. My mom started to decline and I had to move them into assisted and then memory care. Once they left their apartment in independent - everything went south. Staff was poorly trained and had very little patience with a difficult resident. They would choose to ignore rather than do their job. Housekeeping was atrocious - I found myself cleaning their apartment almost daily due to lack of service. They bill you by service - so if you want laundry done more than once a week - you pay for it. If you want a shower after an accident - you pay for it. [removed] My mom had Alzheimer's and was a difficult resident. They priced us out of there rather than provide the care and support she so desperately needed. I should have [removed] was just glad to be rid of them.

6-27-15, Saturday Today, I moved my mother out of the Bonaventure facility in Colorado Springs. We moved her in at the Grand Opening and had high expectations, were promised the world. Carlie was especially friendly. I should have known when none of my phone call were returned after giving a deposit that there would be a problem. But, the facility was nice and new, so we took the bate. Things started going bad real soon. They messed up my mother's long term care. It took me 6 months to get back on track, it was a nightmare. The food became horrible, the staff was cut in half. We finally after a year and a half, with no improvement, and n one able or willing to help us decided to move. From the moment I gave notice they started harassing my 80 year old mother. Her meds were always 3-4 hours late, if given at all. Many times she was given the wrong medications. They treated her with disdain at the dining room. [removed] has been especially cruel. Today [removed] refused to give my mother her medications. I had to call 911 at 12:00 PM for her 8:00 AM meds. When I told [removed] that I had called the police, she and another very unpleasant older woman who worked there asked me to leave the facility. I had even called her doctor [removed] and he phoned them 3 times and asked them to please give her her medications. The police arrived at 1:00PM. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, I cannot believe how we were treated, and I would not let these people take care of my pet fish let alone a loved one. Please don't be fooled by the new facilities, it is a bad, bad place to live. I have never been treated so rudely, and we never missed a payment at this facility. But, we were treated like trash. The way we were treated was criminal.

I am sorry to have to write this review but it feels like the right thing to do, in order to warn other people who may be looking at this facility. We were looking for a place in the Westside area for my mother-in law towards the end of last year, and settled upon Grandview after looking at quite a few facilities. My mother-in-law was accepted in what they call the VIP unit, which is for Memory Care patients, in mid-Januayy 2015. It seemed like an easy transition but she was quite reluctant at first to come out of her room, and preferred to stay inside with the door locked which worried me. Within a month, she had been found on the floor of her room a couple of times, one time sustaining a rib fracture and a compression fracture of one of her lumbar vertebra. She started having physical therapy after this and they transitioned her from walking, quite unsteadily, unassisted, to a walker, which seemed to work well for her. When her physical therapist came to see her at the very end of March for an appointment she noticed that she could not walk at all and there had been a dramatic change. The staff just said she wouldn't get out of a chair and use her walked 'all weekend' but it seemed no-one had stopped to think why and there was no 'incident report'. I got her transferred to hospital ( in discussion with the private therapist-who was fantastic-not employed by the home). She had completely fracture her hip (femoral head) and had major surgery to repair it. She has gone through a hard rehab month and we are moving her into a new facility next week. To this day, no-one at Grandview can tell me how she broke her hip and why no-one got an assessment when she was suddenly in pain and could not walk the weekend before this was discovered. SO WORRYING. As a physician myself, I have to say I could not recommend sending any ambulatory person to the Memory Care unit of this facility. She sustained 3 fractures in 2 and a half months while there, and had never had a fracture in her life before this and was living in her own home before moving there. I could add more, such as having to remind staff to wash her hair when it had clearly been dirty for some days. Her physician told us in no uncertain terms "[removed]".

My mom was in Memory Care Unit and we pulled her out after a few months. BEWARE - this PLACE OVERSELLS and DOES NOT DELIVER quality care for elderly. It is tremendously understaffed, poorly managed and they make major mistakes. We got sold a lot of marketing and little real service. So disappointed with Las Palmas whose staff made mistakes with medications several times. They did not have enough people working to care for how ill the residents are so we moved out FAST --and so did many others.

At first this place seemed so beautiful and new with all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately the care for our loved one was second rate. Staff is definitely friendly but they are not trained in memory care and are not attentive enough. I saw residents fall on at least three separate occasions. After our loved one fell twice which resulted in a broken hip, we knew this was not the right place for us. There seems to be a shortage of staff to the residents in need. I also found a large disconnect between the staff and who made the decisions. Our loved one often smelled and had greasy hair. It seems as if they aren't experienced in running a facility, only building a lovely facade.

My mother was there less than 24 hours. She did not receive the appropriate watch that she was supposed to and that we expected. There were supposed to be alarms to go off if she got up. She got up, no alarms went off, she fell and broke her hip, and they found her lying there in pain some time later. There is no telling how long she was lying there. Mom then had to go to the hospital and get weeks of healing therapy, and she may actually never walk again. They were terrible and completely incompetent.

Beware of this place. It looks great on the surface but once you move in... The pull cord for assistance/emergencies either doesn't work or nobody is monitoring it. My mother had to leave her brother to find someone to get help after waiting with him stuck in the bathroom for twenty minutes. They sent my Uncle to the Hospital after he fell and hit his head, which would be reasonable except he has dementia and was sent without anyone from the facility to tell the doctors what happened. The food service has deteriorated the head chef is there during the day and preps meals then nobody reheats them for dinner people are served cold food. Other residents are starting to look out for each other because they are not making it to meals so they have to get the staff to go look for them. Staff snaps at the people granted some of the people can be demanding, but isn't it your job to take care of them and if you did I bet the residents would be less upset and demanding. Beware of this place it looks great and they are real friendly but they don't follow through and are understaffed.

I got my parent out of there! We were a charter family. In the beginning it was great! Then, employees who really cared about and loved the residents were let go. (ED, marketing, nurse ect.) They were replaced by an unqualified & incompetent administration who are apparently concerned with the bottom dollar and not the residents. The care giver / resident ratio is in question. We've heard there are several lawsuits pending. Residents were told that what they were promised in the past is no longer in effect. They cannot get billing straight and it's a fight each month.
