I thought Sunrise was very nice when I toured, but the community was very large , and I thought that the rooms seemed institutionalized. There was nothing but blinds in the windows and no pictures on the walls. They just seemed bare and stark to me. Other areas in the community like the dining room looked nicer, but I was uncomfortable with the large community size and the stark quality of the rooms

The Wellington has turned out to be a great place for my parents except one big problem: the food is not very good. They have a few items that are ok but for the most part is is over cooked and pretty mediocre My mom was a gourmet cook so she hates the food and so does my dad. The menu sounds amazing but the chef is not good. The chicken is dry, the meat is over cooked. Tasteless. Basically hospital food quality. Other than that, the staff is friendly and caring. Nice apartments but expensive in light of food issue

The staff here is great, however since my mother-in-law moved in a month ago they have been unable to install a working thermostat, a working TV box or a defective ceiling light despite numerous complaints. We are told that since they were purchased by Sunrise, they could not used their prior vendors and that has caused the delays. Without these issues the rating would be much better.

Some of the staff at this community are amazing and some you can tell do not want to be there. They do offer a lot of daily activities. The community could be a little cleaner including the furniture in the common areas. I might recommend this community if you were not able to find anything else in the area that would work for you. They are not flexible on their rates and they are a little pricey.

Change of administration several times. two times a year for many years. It affects communication. The billing is frustrating. Many times not submitted to Insurance until the bill is due. Then delays happen. The upkeep with painting and decor could be better and it is hard to find staff when visiting.

Oakmont is, no doubt, a beautiful facility! The grounds and interior are very carefully maintained. My recommendation is that this is a wonderful facility for seniors who are active, independent and are interested in getting away from the daily drudgery of cleaning and cooking for themselves. It is best suited to those who do not need a lot of care or attention as their staffing ratio is rather low. Staff turnover, in the year + that my parents were there was pretty regular. For those that need a higher level of care and/or attention, I can't recommend Oakmont. My parents needed a much higher level of care than Oakmont was able to provide and they were left on their own a great deal of the time. It just wasn't the best option for them. I'm not saying Oakmont was negligent, just that they weren't the best fit.

New place and new staff, have a lot of work to do to get it running smoothly. Staff have great intentions, just need more staff and better communication.

My mother has been at Watermark for over two years. During that time, there have been three directors. At the current time, we have as a community, have witnessed a dramatic firing spree of several of our favorite people, including receptionists, med techs, activity directors, servers, and chefs/cooks. These sudden changes have caused great upset among the residents and staff (the ones remaining) alike. It has been a disappointing and distressful time for this community. If it were an easy move to make, I would be looking elsewhere, but the difficulty of finding another setting at this stage is far too difficult. Watermark behaves like a business, a corporation that is invested only in monetary gain, not human care.

Lots of promises but for the first few months they have not lived up to most of them. Disappointed because this is very expensive when you parent is not getting the care they say they will get.

My experience with Oakmont was disappointing. I told the originally person who interviewed me that my mother had dementia, was incontinent and unsteady on her feet. I revealed exactly what was wrong with her and what we were looking for. She showed us a few one room studios and I asked if she had any apartments with a separate bedroom, she did and showed us and we loved it and said it looked perfect. We proceeded to give her a deposit and do all the things we were asked..doctors forms filled out, hook up cable and telephone, contact movers..the day before we were ready to move in the head manager called to say we cannot move in because my mom was diagnosed with dementia and that unit was in the assisted living side of facility, that she needed to be in memory care. I wanted my mom in memory care which is why I chose them in the first place. I was never told that the apartment she was moving into was assisted living. They finally agreed to let her move in if I hire 24 hour outside caregivers. I said I would thinking it was for a few days. It was permanent. I certainly would have never moved her out of her home if I was hiring 24 hour caregivers, she could have stayed home. So here I was paying for my mom to be in a care home but paying an outside agency to care for her. I was not happy and started looking for a new place that would care for her. I think Oakmont was at fault for even showing me a unit that was not really available to her knowing she had dementia. I was displeased with the way they handled everything.

I moved my mom into Vintage in November 2013 and she moved out in the middle of December 2013. The main reason she moved out was because the food and the service in the dining room was unacceptable. She waited as long as 2 1/2 hours to get some of her meals. The staff is very friendly and the accommodations are nice. The rooms are small for the price they are charging. My mom was paying $3070 per month for the smallest room they had to offer on the first floor. The food was terrible. My mom and I both complained and they said they would take care of it but nothing changed. The residents, care takers and other staff are very friendly and helpful but Vintage needs to get their act together as far as I'm concerned. The dining room should have 5 star gourmet food for what they are charging to live there. I hope this is helpful to anyone considering living there. Also, they charge a one time movein fee of $2,500 part of which is refundable if you move out within 60 days but you must give a 30 day notice on the first of the month in order to move out. This means that you are there for at least 2 months before you can leave and the first $500 is non-refundable at all.

My mother used to live there and I didn't like it. They wouldn't return phone calls. They were not responsive. She was constantly getting injured there. It was just too big. The individuals were okay but there's not direct person to contact ever. Sometimes they'd answer their emails and sometimes the wouldn't. The director changed several times - it was a mess. They had a base price that was already high and then they would add on to it. It was a real rip off in my opinion.

It just didn't feel right. I never talked to anyone there. I just walked in and saw people sitting there. They didn't seem to be attended to and it didn't smell very good. It just did not feel good to me. It could have been an off day but when I walked in I just thought I can't put my mother here!

They didn't communicate well. One caregiver wouldn't give information to the next caregiver. It was laxidasical care. My dad got really good physical therapy there but over all I was not impressed with the caregiving.

When my mom first lived at the facility it was wonderful (great caregivers & staff). Three months after she was there, the management staff changed and EVERYTHING went downhill. If my mom hadn't passed when she did, I would have moved her into a different facility.

Our experience was extremely disappointing. There were repeated problems throughout my dad's stay that made us lose confidence in the care he was receiving. His clothing was constantly getting lost, and he was often dressed in clothes that didn't belong to him. His comforter and bed sheets also disappeared. During my last visit, all of his shoes had ended up in another resident's room, leaving him without shoes for half the day. That was the last straw for our family. The memory care living room was always kept very dim, and the residents were usually asleep whenever we visited. There seemed to be very little stimulation or meaningful activities to keep residents engaged. Even more concerning were the safety issues. My dad experienced injuries and falls while he was there. On one occasion, he was able to leave the memory care unit entirely. Although the alarms sounded, no one responded. He was eventually found on the assisted living side in the movie room, and no staff member—including the receptionist—stopped or redirected him. These repeated issues with lost belongings, lack of engagement, and serious safety concerns left us feeling that my dad was not receiving the level of care and supervision he deserved.

Ivy Castle Rock has nice, roomy apartment units and the facility is clean. The food is average, but they are often out of menu items and the menu items and dining room hours are very limited. Monthly costs went up quickly and they won't tell me why. There have been multiple inaccuracies/over charging in their billing processes and they are slow to resolve the issues and provide proper invoices. They are extremely slow to respond to repair requests and need lots of reminders before they show up to make a repair, if they ever show up. The management has very poor communication skills. They are a nightmare to deal with. I do not recommend this facility.

My mother & I had a tour and the sales department lady offered us a free meal which was super kind of her. She talked to us when we first sat down and let us enjoy our meals. The 2 servers who helped us were extremely attentive and sweet just like the sales woman. They were bringing plates of food to all the residents quickly, quick to clean up any dirty dishes, explained all the different options on the menu and overall just had a friendly vibe towards my mother and I. I had a question about certain dietary needs that my mom was picky about and asked to speak to the main manager in the kitchen but we were told she said she was “ way too busy to meet us at the moment” by one of her cooks named [name removed]. He didn’t offer any other assistance and walked away from us quickly. About 5 mins later we saw him and a woman with blonde hair who looked very unpleasant and angry walking by the free water and we later found out she was the manager. Because of her, my tour went from good to bad.

My grandfather required a lot of support from care staff regarding his health and safety and we had many concerns that this care plan was not followed. The response time to the call pendant was over 30 mins, food arrives to the room cold with no way to warm it up, no staff available after 8pm. When an emergency happened we had no one to support us.

There is a really turnover rate of staff at Courtyards, and care plans are not followed very closely. Communication is extremely lacking, too.
