I don't think this can be classified as assisted living. You housed my husband for approximately 6 weeks. I did not see much assistance other than making sure he went for meals. My husband was not the easiest to care for. He would not participate in most activities. He could never quite get the hang of the TV or DVD player. He needed daily help with that. No one told me that I would have to supply bedding, toilet paper, mattress protectors, towels, wash rags, extra lamps, extra tables, soap and etc. I would have thought that over $[removed]for 6 weeks would cover some of that. Room and bathroom cleaning were only done when it was scheduled, even if there was something spilled on the floor or the toilet was dirty inside and out. I cleaned it myself several times.Soiled laundry was left in the room - until laundry day. I kept asking when was shower day and only one attendant from evenings made sure he got a shower. I will grant you that [name removed] was not a good historian, however. One good thing was the food. He said it was delicious! I don't know if you are short on help, but I rarely saw anyone in his pod unless we requested something.
Well I left several messages for the director only to find out she had left. No one ever bothered to call me back. I also left a couple of messages for the care coordinator. Never got a call back but did run into her and spoke with her. When my brother died I don't know who was responsible but they left his eyes and mouth open. I was appalled by this. They didn't bother to inform all of the staff so while I was there waiting on the funeral home a couple of the ladies came with no knowledge of his passing. Overall I think they did an ok job given how stubborn he was about them taking care of him. He wanted to die and so he did.

We would have been "lost" without this place, but an "overall" remodel is needed. the main negatives being the age of the facility and the unsafe load/unload areas in both the front and back of the facility. The facility's location is on a VERY BUSY street with VERY LITTLE PARKING! [name removed] (GREAT LADY!) and her Caregivers were overall a 4 rating because of their compassionate care. [name removed] at the front desk was also a 4 rating because of his ability to be very helpful and friendly. The food and food service was an overall 3 rating. The cleaning and laundry staff was an overall 5 rating, great people! [name removed], the facility's administrator was an overall 2 rating, nice lady but weak on follow through on requests. Families should be very aware that monthly rental rates can go UP with little or no notice from any facility that they chose. I still appreciate that I utilized A Place For Mom to find this facility.

We ended up moving our loved one out [dates removed] and is now at [community name removed]. There was definitely room for them to improve on things, and the rates got raised on us twice without warning.

My sister is currently a resident at Novellus Clairemont and overall the experience has been just okay. However, they are very short staffed for care givers and office staff. Also, the parking is terrible. I do not recommend this facility to others.

I would say if they are going into memory care don't go there. I would say only go there if it's for assisted living. I picked it because the memory care was a small wing and felt they would attend my husband's needs which they did not. When you go in your first day in a wheelchair and less than a week you are restricted to a bed it's a bad situation for the person and the family

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale Clairemont and we found the facility to be old and as well as the units we saw. Also the showers were not wheelchair accessible which is why we did not pick this community for our loved one.

I toured this community and based on that I would not recommend it. The price was lower than a lot of others. But the entire facility smelled like urine and we were just not impressed.

When we first moved my mother into the community, she was living in the assisted living but then moved to the memory care. At that time, it was a very nice place, but when we moved her out we found her lying in feces and in very poor condition. The caregivers that were there at one point were very good. The last executive director was very rude to our family.

Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The facility was really not very clean and a lot of miss -matched furniture...overall rather depressing for an independent living senior. Thank you for the courtesy but not a match for us.

They didn't seem to do a good job of assessing my mother. About 3 weeks after her arrival, they stated they couldn't deliver the level of care she needed. It then took more than 3 months to refund the money. That being said, I can't say enough good things about the daily caregivers on both shifts, and weekends, and including the pharmacy techs, and [Name removed]. They showed so much compassion, gentleness, and empathy to my mom. I feel mom wasn't there long enough to accurately rate them Maybe 3?4?

Our loved one is doing okay, she is still trying to get acclimated at the Brookdale Clairemont. She is shy and needs people to reach out and include her. They had an ambassador who helped show the new residents around for the first day, I think she needed more than one day. The food is not what we expected. We had dined there with her and the meals were not very appetizing. The food that was served was cold. It is discouraging for people who really count on the meals to be one of the highlights of their day. We are really happy with the care that they are providing for her. We like the fact that the doctor comes in to visit her, and that she is taking her medication on schedule. We really like her room. There are beautiful views of the nicely landscaped courtyard for the residents to get out and enjoy. They offer transportation for trips to go on outside excursions. We're hoping she will meet new friends and feel more welcome.

We had visited this community and mostly was concern if they could care for my wife. We seen a lot of places and some were less expensive. I had a tour with them and learned that they could not handle my wife.

My grandfather recently was living at this community and I have to say things did not go as planned. He ended up having to leave because they could not provide the care he needed with his memory loss. They also assigned a personal caregiver to him that my grandmother was not aware of and was billed for. It was hard enough moving him here and then to find out I had to move him again was very hard on him.

My loved has moved in this community to get the care they need. They are in the memory care and the assessment went well to determine where she is a good fit. I picked them because I wanted to be close to my loved one. They are close enough for me to see the community from my house.

My mother was a resident here for three years and moved on to another community because her care need exceeded what Brookdale could accommodate. They went through two major director changes during my mother's residency. It was not the most stable place but it met our needs. The location and price was the driving force for her staying. They have some excellent staff and med techs. Some of the aides were lacking and you would need to explain simple requests to them. I think that all come downs to staffing. I know many of the administration has left since my mother moved. I think if there was more time spent on training it would be a better experience for residents and they would have less turn-over.

Very nice facility... clean, inviting, friendly staff ... a warm feeling... no offensive smells.... liked being offered all inclusive fee and limited add ons..... only concerns 1... they would not file on insurance.. they would supply the forms (?), they required a month and community fee up front... even though insurance will cover 100% of fee for life time.... and that it is not a forever home for loved one.. he would have to be relocated if he was unable to feed himself or completely bed ridden....

Due to licensing under new management they are not allowing residents to reside here with a diagnosis of Dementia therefore my mother needs to move.

This was the second community I saw and I thought the people were very nice and very helpful. The lady I spoke with was knowledgeable and gave me tips about searching for senior communities. The location is in a wonderful area and quiet. The facility was neat and smelled clean. I think the community needs a little updating.
