We toured this community. We did not like the rooms that were dark and did not have the feeling that we were looking for. They have only certain times for the residents to be able to have a meal and that is not what we were looking for. They might consider making a few small changes where the community is not dark. We would recommend that families tour this community for the care of a family member.

Very dark!

When I toured Brookdale Clairemont, The person that took us around was friendly and informative. The thing we did not like was that the facility was very dark, it was not inviting.

Not Fabulous

The bathroom is horrible, way too small, tub was ancient., and no fan in the bathroom. There was only one elevator. It's an old building and needs an update. The heater broke down twice, sounded like it was going to explode no compensation for the 5 days it went out. The parking was dangerous and it was not the best area. The price was quite high for all that you got. Cleaning once a week, sheet change and once it did not happen. I would not recommend them. They have let staff go left and right. Now the place is so short staffed and it looks like a real mess. The workers were kind, caring, efficient and sweet. There were far more negatives than positive.

Good value

Brookdale San Diego provides a good value for the services it provides. The caregivers are pleasant and helpful, but often seem rushed and occasionally, especially at night, response time to a call can take awhile. The range of activities is fair but the spaces where they are offered are a bit limited and could benefit from updated furniture. Dining choices and overall food offerings vary from adequate to very good. Overall, all staff are helpful and pleasant.

The Atria was very nice for my mother's short stay there. I was pleased with everything except the night care she received. I made it very clear that my mother needed to get up at night to go to the bathroom, sometimes frequently. I was told that response time was less than 7 minutes. However, she usually waited 30 to 45 minutes to get help. I was disappointed and upset that this happened more often than not. Otherwise, the facility was exceptional.

I had a good tour!!

This is a nice community. The staff during our tour was nice. They only had studio apartments available for a higher cost than the community we chose. The community seemed clean. I wanted to also thank A Place for Mom for their help in our search.

Needs Updating!!

Atria Kingwood was very clean and neat. It would be nice if they did a little updating to the building. It looks like the walls need a re-touch on the painting. It was a nice little set up and this is good it makes it feel like home. I would recommend a tour of the community it had nice staff and wonderful residents.

Looking for assisted living for my mother: Atria is a very nice assisted living facility. They have 49 rooms, so they are not HUGE. Everyone I met on staff seemed very cheerful. When the director took me on a tour, she was speaking to residents by name, and they all seemed to know her. One thing I really like about Atria is their activity schedule. They have 6-7 activities scheduled 7 days per week. They also take residents out on "field trips", like going to the library, out to a restaurant for lunch, or even just a "sight seeing" trip where they don't get out of the vehicle. This would be awesome for someone who can still get around fairly well. My only "con" is that there aren't many places to go for a private visit (other than the resident's bedroom); but all in all, I like this place a lot.

wouldn't put my mom or dad in

I wouldn't put my mom or dad in Brookdale Clairemont. They say they will do certain things and they never get done. The care givers aren't very thorough or caring. The bathroom was disgusting when I came to visit the patient. The bed was dirty also. Any time she needed help and pushed her button necklace and it would take 20 minutes or half an hour for staff to respond. I would have to hunt someone down to get her help. For the price you pay and what you get is ridiculous. The staff is friendly I will say. They do have good activities there also, not that the patient participates in any of them. I really just would not recommend this place to anyone.

Liked it and the people were fine.

We looked at a lot of different places. This was one of the ones we toured and considered. I liked all of the communities I visited, the people were all fine, and this was no exception. I just don't think this is the right fit for us, my loved ones don't want to leave their home.

So far things are good.

So far things are good. It's clean and the staff are friendly. The elevators are old, and the power goes out once in a while, but that's just the building. They just got a new computer system, and that has been a little bit challenging, but it's nice to see an upgrade, and it's settling down now.

We enjoyed our visit to Emeritus and it we were pleasantly surprised. It felt smaller than Oakdale as far as the community, but the rooms were larger and overall the place was bright and easy to get around. There seemed to be a better mix of residents and I wonder if not having memory care on the facility had anything to do with that. Laundry was included in the price where at Oakdale it was not and Cable was not included in the price, where at Oakdale it was. So it about evens out. It is definitely a place I would go back to with mom for a lunch and tour
