My mom was here when it was still Brookdale. Staff was friendly and helpful. When someone first enters it would be nice if they had more "greeters" to make that transition easier. My mom was not able to get up on her own so having someone check on her would have been helpful. They were suppose to be checking but maybe documentation by the door would help for accountability. Overall staff was very kind.

We moved my sister in in February. I received notice today that her both her rent and her Level of Care monthly charges are going up by almost [amount removed] on 7/1! I'm in shock! This is an older facility that needs improvements made to the building like new flooring, new paint and fixtures in the common areas. And they desperately need more parking and a NEW "drop off, pick up" area. The location is on a very busy street with a very unsafe and unfriendly "drop off, pick up" area. I would tell other people that the A PLACE FOR MOM option of selecting a facility for a loved one was a lifesaver for my family as we had a very short fuse to select a facility and get my sister moved in ASAP. It is a mind boggling experience that I do not wish on anybody. But the reality is that the majority of us will be faced with the need for some level of care either at home, in an assisted living facility or in a nursing home. They had the space available at a price that we could possibly afford with the services that my sister needed ASAP. Overall, being into this journey for 3 months, there have been more PROS than CONS with this facility. Honestly, I'm still learning as I go at this time and I'm just trying to keep our heads above water emotionally and financially. One key of many keys to success is for the loved ones of the patient to stay VERY INVOLVED with the care of your loved one to monitor the ongoing quality of the care provided and the cost of the care provided.

a good place to live

We moved my mom & dad from Fountainwood into Novellus in late August. I immediately new this was a good move for them. The facility truly feels like a home and my parents really enjoyed the “upgrade” in the quality of the food. They’ve made friends they enjoy, and even though dad struggles with dementia, they enjoy meals with their resident friends. The level of care has been great. We’re very pleased to have them living at Novellus.

Mom has lived at Novellus Kingwood for 2 years. The Care Givers and Med Techs are great. There are always numerous activities to partake in. When Novellus bought the property last year, they promised many upgrades and refurbishment, but there has been little or no progress so far.

We picked this community, because it was proximity to my home also it was a smaller facility and felt more comfortable to my mother. I would recommend to others.

I am a resident here at Brookdale Clairemont for almost 2 years. There’s neat things to do thanks to the activity manager. I really like the staff they do have. The food is being improved because of the new chef. I really enjoy our bus outings.

All the staff are friendly. The girls are constantly working to do everything they can to help me. They seem to enjoy their jobs and get along so good together, and laugh a lot.

This has been a pretty good experience with staff for us. The staff communication with the family has been good. Sometimes it has taken longer than expected to hear a response about our questions. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and there are choices for the residents to choose from. The community could use more staffing to assist with the care of the residents.

Our family had an in-person tour and it was a really nice experience but it just did not have all the services we needed.

The tour was nice. The people were nice. I didn't see any issues. It was a smaller community than others we looked at. But the cost was quite a bit higher and out of line with with the other three we toured.

Also went well with this tour, but facility chose was closer to our family.

Our family had an in person tour and the lady who gave us the tour was so sweet and kind hearted. Even though our loved one did not move into this community she has still kept in contact with us.

We are super happy with everything. The only complaint he has had is the food. The facility does know that there are complaints and they are working on improving things. The care and the people have been wonderful. I would recommend to others looking depending on what you loved one needs.

My cousin and I toured this facility with [name removed] in sales as a potential spot for my aunt who needs memory care. We loved the place and the employees. They made us feel like family and very comfortable that they can care for her. I believe my cousin is in the process of finalizing my aunt's move in. I look forward to visiting her there.

There are a lot of things about the facility we like and my dad is happy here. The facility itself is very clean. One that that really upset me is that if your loved one has to go to the hospital, they send them to Kingwood. So if you have a preference on hospital, they will not accommodate that.

They were very caring and very concerned. My loved one passed away while he lived there, and they showed their concern and asked if there was anything they could do to help. Everyone was very friendly. It was relatively clean, but the carpet had some stains, and sometimes messes would take a couple of days to be cleaned. It's an older facility too, so it's harder to keep clean and/or look clean. But overall, I think it was a good value.

We chose Atria Kingwood because of the beautiful welcoming concept when you pull up to the facility. It is beautifully decorated and made us feel comfortable when we walked in. There is a big great room with a piano and a lot of plants and the staff are very friendly even when you are just looking. My moms room is very spacious and comfortable as well. She does complain about the food, they have had a couple of different chefs come in and it is getting better and improving. I would highly recommend.

I would tell others that this specific community is a great place to check out. The staff has been good to work with. The community allows pets. The rooms are adequate for the residents and some of the rooms have small patios.

We have had a great experience at Atria Kingwood. It is a great place, especially for people who can take more care of themselves. If they cannot help themselves, I do think you would have to look elsewhere as the staff here are not actual doctors or nurses, they are techs. The staff members here are all very caring and have been great with my parents.
