They do a pretty good job.

If she pushes the button for assistance it can take a little bit of time. A comment has been made that it was because they were short staffed. When I first toured, I got the impression that if they buzz to go to the bathroom, they would be right there, it's not exactly like that. The housekeeping is outstanding. They have a lot of activities, and they assign you an ambassador to take you around and get you involved. They do a good job with that. The biggest problem with the menu is that there is so much turkey and chicken. If you have it brought to your room, it might not be the right temperature.

They are clean and friendly. The quality of the food could be better. I liked that it has a good community area, where everyone was gathered. Some of the places we saw the people were dispersed around the community.

The staff knew who everyone was, and the people knew the staff.

The building was a little older, and not quite as nice as the one we chose. They were clean and friendly. The staff knew who everyone was, and the people knew the staff. This became our litmus test. Sort of the standard we were checking communities against. The food was pretty good, it was ok not five star gourmet, but good. Each room was empty, and they needed a lot of work to do things. You could upgrade the room yourself, paint them any color or upgrade them yourself.

We liked this community very much, probably our favorite of those visited thus far. We met with Melinda and she was very informative, kind, and encouraging. The common areas were nice and we were able to see some of the activities going on. They have several dining options.

Nice facility with a stable staff, well maintained with an environment that I am sure meets the needs of the less memory impaired very well, but my wife and I felt that her dad would be lost here and it would be only a short time before we would at a minimum see the level of care pushed up because of his needs. Adding Level of care options can really drive the cost of care, and we expect that it was going to become difficult for the family in time.

Happy with our choice

My brother is getting out of his shell a little bit and actually participating in some of the activities they provide. For example they have parties, music, happy hours, walking etc. He is absolutely crazy about the food that they serve and thinks it is fabulous. The staff is very responsive, helpful and seem to be compassionate and really care about their residents. At the price point, I think it is a great value for the money. His room is very comfortable, bright and airy. It is about triple the size of the last place that he was at. I would recommend Brookdale Clairemont to others.

Great Community

We toured the Atria Cypresswood and it is a great community. They gave a nice presentation and some preserves to take home with us. The staff was super nice. It was a clean and well-kept community. We chose another community that was more in-line with our budget.

A Nice, Low Cost Facility

This has been difficult to write because our experience is limited with Camlu. A couple of days after moving in, Camlu informed us that our mother needed more assistance than they thought when they interviewed her. This new level of care would add an additional $800 per month to her rent. This has created a hardship for us. On day four after my mother moved in, she fell and broke her hip. This happened about 4:30 am. The hospital "examined" her and said she was fine. Two days later, still in a lot of pain, she insisted that Camlu call 911 again. This time the hospital diagnosed a broken hip. We have no idea why the fracture was not found on the first trip to the ER. So mom lived at Camlu for six days. She has spent several weeks at a rehab facility and is scheduled to return to Camlu in a few days.

The big bucks!

This place was very nice. The staff were excellent and they were very kind and helpful. They assisted us with any questions that we had. The only thing that we did not like was the price it was just way to expensive.

This seemed like a clean community when I visited. I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling from this community. They did not have an one bedroom available at the time of our tour. The people I met during the tour were knowledgeable.

A small personable community!

They serve food between 4:30 and 6:00. If you go down after 5:00 they seem to always be out of food. The food is not good. The caregivers that work with my mom are very good. They know her by name and are personable. I am not happy with the administrative staff. They have a reasonable amount of activities, however I think they could do a little more. They do have nice music activities.
