Visited facility on Sat. Feb. 1st and talked with Liz and Lola, memory care director as well as met their activity director. Liked the facility and staff were really friendly and did seem to know all the residents. It was a former nursing facility turned into memory care about 15 yrs ago. Liked that the assisted living and memory care did functions together which from my experience doesn't always occur.

Large facility.Staff was engaged and friendly.Large common area (+ add'l rooms) for activities, meals, television. Access to large outside patio area w/ room to sit and access to walking paths. Entire area inside and out very secure for entry and exit. Cons - resident rooms nice however they were extended hallways off the main common area. All were exactly the same and felt like it would be confusing for memory residents to find their way. Identification for each room was a memory box outside the resident door containing personal momentos. Mom is too advanced for this to be effictive. Most expensive facility toured.

They are going through a huge transition, and they are improving greatly. I think any complaints and issues are already being handled and improved. They were the best fit for our budget. I'm pretty happy overall. I'm thankful for A Place For Mom, Dale was great, this was a tough transition for us.

That was nice for just a tiny little room that they had. I like the guy that's in there. I forget his name but he was really really nice. It's a smaller place but at least they have companionship of the other residents there. That was impressive to me.

royal gardens is clean and quiet. the staff are very kind to my mother, and they check on her often , they help her with her every day needs. there are plenty of activities to keep her busy. the place isn't as fancy as soom of the others we looked at, but the price is right,\, most services are included in the monthly fee, where other places charged extra. my mom is keep clean,(they change her three to four times daily to keep her dry. her room is kept clean and her laundry is done regulry. i would recommend this place to family and friends.

The cost is reasonable. The care goes up and down. It depends on who is working but I'll say that they have a better staff than most. The act seem to be, for the assisted living, pretty normal. They always seem to be trips out and thing to do. These places are never what you want but as far as what is being offered there, we're quite satisfied with what we have. Everybody has their own room for the most part, which is great. It's not one of these terrible factories with 3 people to a room separated by a sheet. I would say it's an upper fair to good neighborhood place. Nobody seem to be unhappy there. I know a number of the people there now and they seem comfortable. Nice big rec room. I don't see a lot of turnover in the residents.

I went to look at their day program but when I went with my mother their director for all the activities had just quit. So we went there and all the activities were held in one room all day and lunch was brought in so they never really left that room and I didn't really like that. I know that was kind of an off day for them. They said they would call me when the hired a new activity director but by that time I had already found another place.

I was impressed by the facility and the staff, and it was real close to our home. If we selected a place, it would probably be this one. Money is still a problem.

I was very very happy with them. I'd recommend them to anybody. We like the location, price, and the facility - all that is good. I think they could do a little bit more in the communication area.

They're a nice assisted living place in Japantown. It was a completely different situation that what my mother is in now. It's a nice facility. There are individual rooms and they make the food for you and everything but they don't really treat people with dementia so I didn't think it would be right for my mom.

I didn't think it was a good fit for my sister. She was pretty independent and it seemed to me that if you need more care that Emeritus might be the place that you would want to be. It didn't seem quite as open to me.

I liked it a lot. I didn't choose Greenhaven Estates partly because a lot of their activities were heavily casino or gambling games oriented which I knew was something that my mother would not be interested in. Also, my mom likes to sit out on her patio and the patio on the first floor is walled in so I thought that was not really what she would enjoy. It was really sort of minor details that made the difference.

I went to go see it but I didn't get as far as seeing a room or anything. I know it was like $1000 more than the other place we were looking at and I just didn't get the same feeling when I walked in there. They were redecorating and repainting so it was a bit of a mess. The staff was nice but I guess it just was not a good time to assess the office.

I loved the feel for this and it seems to offer the stimulation I am looking for. I will take someone from the family to look at it. They have a 3 month waiting list and no respite care. Highest on my list now. $4,000/mo + cable... too good to be true.

The staff that we have dealt with have been very friendly. My frame of reference is that for many years mother lived with my sister and brother-in-law and then they were brining in outside help and Emeritus is a little bit under that cost and it's a much lovelier place. She moved in on Sept. 4th and on the 5th of Sept there were a few things not done. When we walked in the room mother was in bed, she did not have her oxygen on that she would normally have at night. that might have been her own doing but anyhow it wasn't on. It was an awkward start. There was some catching up to do. Now things are going better. It was day two before they had it figured out. I get calls from several staff members there and I talk to the former caregiver that came to my sister's house who visits mother and to the best of my knowledge, things are going quite well. There have been no serious issues. It's going about as smoothly as can be.

For what you get it's a good value. The care is very good so far, he likes it there. He doesn't take part in a whole lot of the activities but I was impressed. They have all kind of things - movies, they take them shopping, they have games, a library - quite a few things. There is a grand piano in the lobby and one day a guy was playing that. It's an older home, it's nice, they take care of everybody and treat everybody as an individual. I like that. This was the most financially doable of all the ones we had information for and we were pleased the minute we got there.

My aunt is there. From what I understand it's a very nice place. Her granddaughter is very happy with it and has no complaints. Whether my aunt is happy there is another story but she's being well taken care of. It's a good situation for her and the place is good.

It was a really nice place. It was kept very nice. It was cheery and all the staff was friendly and happy all of the time. They had 3 outdoor places that I could go with my mom and sit and talk. The grounds are very well manicured and they have a good activities program. I'd give them a 4 on quality of food. It's good but not quite as good as where my mom is now. We moved her because of the cost. It was $4760 a month and I'm getting ready to retire myself so the cost became too much.

It was nice but it just wasn't the right match for what we needed at the time.

I liked it but my sister takes insulin shots 4x a day and she has a tendency to bend needles if the does it herself so she needs soemone to do it for her. They didn't have anyone to giver her shots on weekends so I would have to go over there every weekend to do the shots. They were very good, it was just the shots.
