Change not always good

I would say to not go to this community. We liked this community in the beginning and moved all of my loved one belongings in. Then there was a turn over in the staff and everything changed. The new staff were not as well, no activities, the cook was not as good and things just did not go as we hoped. My sister does not even want to stay there any longer. I just felt like they should not have changed everyone at the same time.

Do Not Send Your Love One to Memory Care At This Facility

My mother was aware of her surroundings and knew her children when she was admitted. She lost about 8 pounds her first moth. She passed away after a total of 3 months weighing less than 90 pounds. Started out at 128 pounds. The don't give 2 snacks a day. Only allowed 1 cup of coffee, never get to eat what they want. It was all a lie! Rarely more than 1-2 care guests 14 patients. If you don't show up they leave them in bed. Staff do not have memory care training. Never had soap or hand towel to wash.

our experience

In the beginning, this was a great fit but the recent turnover has us questioning our decision. We feel that they are understaffed at the moment but the folks they do have are quialfied. Communication is good and they do return our calls quickly.

Not as expected

I would tell others looking just make sure that if your loved one is more of a dementia patient to really talk with them about how they deal with that. Our expectations and the level of care were very different. Due to our experience I would not recommend.

Don't trust them unless you can go inside every day

Three things. 1) When we finally did get to go in person to see my loved one, every time we came for an appointment, they never got her ready for our visit. 2) She was never in her own clothes. When we saw her, she was always in somebody else's clothes. 3) While she was there, she developed bed sores and pneumonia, and became completely bedridden within 3 months. Because we weren't allowed to see her, we didn't know until it was too late. She was in memory care, so she couldn't verbalize to us what the conditions were. We removed her as quickly as we could.

My review of Mustang Creek Estates

We did not have a good experience with this facility. They removed the director that was there at the time so things may have changed, but it was a scary experience.

residence beware

The staff that was there was very friendly the issue was that there was not enough staff. There was a time that there was no one at the facility to take care of the residence. I would not recommend this community to others.

Nice facility, poorly managed!

The facility nice at first, but don't be fooled. The place is poorly managed, the employees are overworked and receive little training. Employee turnover is ridiculous, likely due to the long hours, extra shifts and low pay. Incontinent residents are not changed often enough and get repeated UTIs. The residents rarely get the food posted on the menus and there is often not enough of it. Snacks and fruit are rare. Staff is 2 for 14 memory care patients. The also have to cook, clean, do laundry, tote supplies, answer the door--oh, and also bathe, give meds, and supervise 14 people with advanced dementia.

Not Happy with the Care Sevrices

The nursing care service there is practically nonexistent. I very seldom see activities going on for the residence. They don’t consider personalities when matching up roommates which I feel is very important , with this facility I have to stay hands-on every day and call and make sure they’re doing the things that mom needs done for her care. The excuses they always give me are “I’m sorry we have a new staff “. I’m sorry is just not acceptable after so many incidences. We are going to make it work because this is the least expensive facility we could find for her since she’s in memory care.

Did Very Well Here

During the time my husband was here he did very well. He liked the staff and the residents. He enjoyed sitting with other male residents and watching and talking about sports. The community was nicely setup with individual homes so it provided a homey feel to it. The food was good he enjoyed it.

Read the fine print

Mom taken to hospital, dies, family goes in immediately to clean up and notify and 3 (three) weeks before the end of the month. They charge $5800 to the family for an extra month. Lawyer owner(s) wording in fine print takes greed to another level. Greed reaches the heavens! Mom constantly complained about sub par food and it being 'cold'. Not a friendly place. She was alone the last two years until she died at Mustang Creek Estates.

Need better trained care staff

Unfortunately our experience with Mustang Creek Estates has been somewhat of a negative one. The facility itself is very nice, it is a small home-like setting, and they do a great job with the food. However, the caretakers here (as well as the people who handle the medication) are not professionally trained, and there have been a lot of mistakes made in our loved ones care.

For assisted living they are perfect, but for memory care they suck.

For assisted living they are perfect, but for memory care they suck. They had no interaction with him whatsoever, aside from getting dressed and put in his chair, and being taken to meals. He used to feel like he was in prison. He was left alone and would fall a lot. They aren't staffed for memory care. The two hour check in doesn't happen.

Not What It Seems to Be

They put on a great front when you tour, they're playing games, and interacting with each other, but now that my parent is there, its a whole new ballgame. Its basically a day care center, where they feed you three really good meals a day and give you your meds. But, they don't do the activities they proclaim they do or engage with the patients, the workers grunt and nod, and give short answers, even to me when I visit my parent. They are very rude and abrupt. If we can locate another place, we will after the first of the year. I don't pay over $4000 a month for them to be mean, hateful and rude and treat my parent like they are trash.

Mustang Creek

Mustang Creek Estates is a good place for residents who are independent with their care. Unfortunately, if your loved one needs assistance with ADL's, there are only a few aides that are willing or trained to provide the care. I spoke with the administrator and assistance administrator and voice my complaint of my mother being left in bed for over 12 during the day. They promised to address this lack of care, and stated all the employees were qualified to use a hoyer lift. This was a lie as I personally had to show many of there employees how to use it. Addionally, it didnt mattrr what time of day or evening, when we showed up, they were always stated "they" were just going to change her and get her up. I also discovered a huge medication error. The Aides decided to start crushing all her medications and putting them in a 12 - 16 oz smoothie because she had difficulty swallowing a potassium tablet. They were doing this for at least 3 days when I discovered what they were doing without supervision and immediately gave a 30 day notice to move out. She was hospitalized 4 days later and never returned to Mustang Creek Estates. Mustang Creek has a few very good employees who really provide great care, however there are way too many who don't do much for the residents.

Poor experience

Overall experience was poor at best. The quality of care and the admin side is poor...way too much turnover in staff. Food service was sketchy and wasn't provided on a regular basis. Too much is asked of the staff members who show for work. I would not recommend to others. Way too expensive for this experience.
