Mustang Creek Estates

My mom recently moved in and she loves the place! She has Alzheimer’s and the caregivers from the house staff, office personnel down to the maintenance folks are such wonderful people - special shout out to [name removed] for excellent care. The grounds are well maintained, the food is delicious and the services provided give me the peace of mind knowing I made the right choice (coincidentally, I have a friend who placed their parents elsewhere and I’ve been talking them into making the switch to Mustang). Anyway, visits with my mom are pleasant and we enjoy everything so far.

It was my first experience finding a place for someone and it could have been a stressful time but with the help of A Place for Mom and their suggestion for Mustang Creek Estate it went very smooth. I did visit several other places and was not as impressed as with Mustang Creek Estates. I do visit often and have always seen courteous care for their residents from the staff. It is always clean and the meals they prepare always look and smell delicious. I’d recommend MCE.

Definitely 5 stars. I appreciate the patience and care that was shown in this very difficult time. I would absolutely recommend them to others who are searching for senior living for their loved one.

The transition to memory care can be stressful for patient, and her caregiver as well. Mustang staff provided patience and understanding to both of us. It’s a family atmosphere with residents dining together and opportunities for conversation and activities. I also appreciate the clear communication between the staff, hospice care and myself.

My uncle received the best care during his last few months. It was also an amazingly clean facility.

When we moved my Dad into Mustang Creek, we were in a huge bind. His wife unexpectedly went into the hospital (and subsequently died), so we had to move fast. My Dad could not be left on his own in their apartment. Even though he was walking and could (mostly) bathe, shave, and dress himself - with several gentle reminders - he was stool incontinent and unable to prepare his meals or manage other daily tasks. Mustang Creek was recommended because it fit into my Dad's very limited budget. As his PoA, I knew he would eventually need to access Medicaid, but we had to spend down what funds he had remaining. I shared all of this with Mustang Creek, and they moved heaven and earth to get him into their Flower Mound facility in just 3 days. Dad was initially somewhat resistant, and we were not fully transparent with him when we arrived, but by the next morning when I went back to bring more of his things, the staff had folded him into their community, and he was content from then on out. The aides in his 16-patient co-ed "house" routinely engaged with him, keeping his mind more active with a variety of activities and simply talking and joking with him. He's a very social person, and they simply loved on him and patiently tolerated his constant questions with humor and kindness. They have a big kitchen and dining area in each house. I was there often and saw the fresh good food they cooked there and served at every meal. They did his laundry and kept the house clean and neat. They also kept me apprised of things that cropped up such as falls, colds, and fevers. There was also an issue with a fellow housemate he had mistaken for his wife who had recently died. We had a meeting about it, and Mustang Creek handled it professionally and compassionately. My Dad had 5 wonderful months at Mustang Creek until his funds were depleted, and we were forced to move him to a nursing home that accepted Medicaid. The Mustang Creek staff were genuinely sad to see him leave. The new facility has more limited staff capacity and immediately put him in a wheelchair. He has declined very rapidly, which is not the fault of the facility, just the cruel course of Alzheimer's. I cannot say enough good things about Mustang Creek in Flower Mound, from the management staff to the aides, everyone was focused on caring for my Dad. I have the utmost respect for the people who do this very challenging work, and that group is exceptional. As a referral agency, you work with a variety of families with a variety of needs. I would recommend Mustang Creek in Flower Mound to anyone, regardless of their financial capacity. They took excellent care of my Dad, truly far beyond our expectations, and we will forever be grateful for those 5 months we had with him before he was lost to us into the black hole that is Alzheimer's. This was a very difficult situation, though quite common for families like ours, AND we had to do everything within a very short period of time, but Mustang Creek smoothed out the process and put us at ease.

All of the staff is friendly and responsive. The food and atmosphere are great.

My wife had a stroke about 3 years ago that completely changed her life. Previously she was a very accomplished woman who had worked all her life and was very competent person. She has lost most of her memory and requires the use of a wheelchair. We have been very pleased with the care she is receiving at Mustang Creek. We especially like the way the residents are placed in small groups in a structure that resembles a house. A small group of people act as caregivers for the residents of the house and take care of daily needs such as preparing meals, cleaning rooms, dressing and bathroom needs. Importantly, my wife seems very happy here.

The staff is excellent. My husband is not the easiest person to deal with and they have handled him with care and understanding. The house is always clean and the bedroom is a perfect size.

The staff at Mustang Creek is great! They are always willing to assist me at anytime. Most of the time the food is tasty and seasoned well. I don't like the onion soup, collard greens, and a chicken dish they make. Other than that the food is delicious. [name removed] always has fun activities planned for us and plans different things. Overall I very pleased.

Staff-Engaging and caring, not the typical "nursing home" experience. Staff learns what your loved one likes/dislikes and goes out of their way to accommodate. Activities-There are several options available, from puzzles to motor skill types available. There are also staff-lead activities as well, like bingo. Food-meals and snacks are prepared in house. The open kitchen layout allows the smells from the meal prep to stimulate hunger, for better or worse. Rooms-Rooms are a good size. Not too big to overwhelm your loved one, but big enough to allow movement with whatever assistance device they may have. Each room has its own bathroom. Facility is unique in its design and concept. It is not a typical institutional layout, but a large house with many bedrooms. My mom was a nurse for over 50 years and institutional looking facilities were causing her anxiety. The Mustang Creek neighborhoods are top notch, without bankrupting your finances.

MCE staff has been so accommodating and helpful in settling him into his new surroundings. He is engaged and participating in the events throughout the week. He feels welcome and the Exec. Director has gone above and beyond in coordinating his medication through the VA and it is going well thus far. Everyone is so nice. The facility is kept very clean and the other people living in the facility seem happy and engaged. His calendar is always full and equally, he has nice downtime as well. He even commented on how good the food is and that's a huge plus.

The people there seemed to really care about their residents and wanted to help. The facility was also nice and home feeling. I would recommend.

It's a very nice facility, with excellent caring staff. I would recommend them to others who are searching for care for their loved one.

From beginning to end everyone was very helpful. The tour and info meeting was very helpful. We call to ask questions after the meeting and they answered promptly and never acted as if we were a bother When we brought [name removed] to the facility, she was greeted warmly by all the staff. They've made sure she feels included and knows her new routine.

My experience has been very good here. I'm very happy here at Mustang Creek Estates. Everyone is very nice. Food is very good. When I need something, the caregivers are right there to help! We have a lot of activities that I enjoy.
