I liked that it was a small setting, not a lot of people in one house and home cooked meals. Considerate, caring, attentive staff. Facility is good. Seems to be kept up fairly well.

Overworked and Understaffed

Our decision to choose Mustang Creek was based upon its potential to be a great place for the residents. Upon arrival, we learned they were understaffed, and the employees overworked. The model with the kitchen in the center creates a feeling of homeyness, which is deceiving. The cook is also required to be the personal caregiver, so the time available to dedicate to the personal services or activities of the residents is in direct conflict with the meal preparation. During our short stay, we never saw residents out of their rooms except at meal times. Unfortunately, it was an isolating environment not a homey place to live. That could all be rectified with appropriate staffing and a commitment from ownership/management to engage the residents.

Dad deserves better!

If you are considering this place....DONT! They will give you the hard sell - only for you to find out later, they told you what you wanted to hear, not what they can actually do for your loved one. If your loved one is VERY independent, they might be ok, but if your loved one needs even the most basic care, TRUST ME, this is NOT the place to leave them. My loved one was there for only 6 weeks when we decided to move him out....we had to give them a 30 day notice to vacate, and that was the longest 30 days of our lives. We were actually distressed that our loved one would have to spend one more month there - if not for monetary reasons, we absolutely wouldn't have. Our family visited our loved one every single day from the beginning, and it didn't take long for us to realize we had made a horrible decision. By the second week, we were discovering miscommunications between staff on different shifts about his medications & healthcare, we were having to ask for his bathroom to be cleaned, they were complaining about dealing with his incontintence, & he had multiple falls (one requiring an ambulance ride). They were understaffed and the staff that was there was busier having fun in the staff office rather than looking out for, or engaging the residents. This place is not only dangerous, but the worst display of compassion for the elderly that I have ever witnessed in my life. I could write a book on all the reasons you should turn around and walk away from this glorified nursing home! Save yourself a 'lesson learned the hard way'....Save your loved one a trip into depression and being stripped of their dignity.

I would advise you not to go here

I would advise you not to go there. That place is not what it seems. We had family there every single day and we didn't see them do anything they said they were going to do. They were not equipped and not educated to handle my loved one or anyone with memory care problems.

Do not ever send anyone there

Our loved one was there less then two days and it was just a nightmare,. Our loved one had to be on an oxygen tank 24/7 and the first night they were not able to figure out how it worked. We had made arrangements for the next day to come and move furniture around, when we arrived they had no idea we were even coming. Our loved one had fallen during the night, and no one had notified us. They had a cut on their elbow and was super sore from the fall. The first night our loved one was supposed to get an alert button to press for help, they never got one. The next day we told the staff our loved one needs one immediately, and when our loved one finally got it, it did not even work. When it was pressed it took several ours for someone to come, or to even come at all. Also our loved ones medication was not given on time.

Disgusting, Deplorable, Disappointing

They are horrible. The community sells a bunch of [removed]. They are non responsive at corporate or owner. I've emailed 27 times with no response. They treated my loved one horrible. I would not put my worst enemy in the community. They aren't consistent, constantly give excuses. They aren't compassionate, they negate any empathy during the transition of your loved one. They sold me one thing, and once my loved one was in it was chaotic unprofessional, and nothing happened. The aid stated that they didn't have time to hold my loved one's hand because they used the excuses they had to make dinner and shut the door on my loved one. They apologized for not getting a plant out due to my loved one's death, but no formal sympathy. There was a staff member who was more concerned on the utility bills then caring for my loved one. The staff couldn't get my loved one's medication strait once they moved in. Hospice had to go in to help my loved one, since none of the staff knew what was going on.

My husband escaped 2 times from this community and the community was not giving him his correct medicine causing him to irract. I would not recommend this community to others. After we moved they charged us an extra month due to not giving a 30-day notice but they wouldn't take him back.

Disappointed overall

Houses are nice, food is good. They do not do all that they tell you when you sign up.very little activities .very high turnover in staff.residents never get to go outside the caregivers aren't trained to care for people with memory issues.they may get a shower 1 × a week. And residents are left alone most of the time in there rooms. Rooms may appear clean but rarely are they cleaned like you would expect. And if your family member is sick its up to you to figure it out.caregivers don't pay that close attention at all. I'm just very disappointed but feel stuck with current situation. COVID 19

You do not want to put your loved one here.

There was a lot of turn over in staff. The good staff was overworked. They were not hiring qualified staff. We had a staff member that was great and the director was good but we had a lot of issues with the daily staff. The medication was not given correctly. We went on Halloween with the grandkids all dressed up, they told us my mom was at the ER, I had not gotten a call. My mom was there for three months and I had to move her out.

Nightmare

My mother was in this lousy facility less than 2 months when she passed away. They were directed to call 911 at 9:15 am. They finally called at 10:53 after she was deceased. I was lied to several times about the situation and circumstances by different staff members. My mother weighed about 130 when she arrived but only weighed 110 at the time of her death. What I thought was a blessing ended up being a complete nightmare!

Drive on by

Drive on by and save some time and heartache. Mustang Creek Burleson's Memory Care facility scores low all across the board. We are thankful to have it in our rear view mirror. Let me provide a synopsis of the 5 page list of complaints: Understaffed & Overworked. Ineffective procedures for maintaining resident health and well being. High staff turnover which results in poor quality of care for residents. Dirty beyond belief. We are in awe of our new facility where the bathrooms are clean, the floors are clean, the residents are clean. Sadly, this is not true of Mustang Creek Burleson. Because the staff is under trained and over worked, residents suffer. Incorrect meds, and bedbugs were the last straw for our family.

Find a Another Place

The Sachse location Building C is a terrible place for the residents. Mom has experience being locked in her room twice at night, the employee did apologize, placing the phone system on do not disturb, placing call buttons on silent, left in the dining room for hours, using her pull ups for other residents and 3-4 packages of pull -ups provided by family disappearing. Baths are not given as scheduled and soap left in her hair, This is elder abuse at best. Their solution was to move her to another building. The staff and management should be replaced. I would not recommend this location unless they change how they treat the residents.

Unhappy

Mom lived there for 2 months. She has early Alzheimers. We were told most of the residents were at her "level". No one could even talk to her. Had we known this, we would have kept her in her previous facility until the A.L. plus building opened. Instead, she had 2 months of sleepless nights with wandering, confused, folks stumbling in and out of her room all night long. There was no call button in her room, so they gave her a cowbell to ring if someone wandered in at night. By the 3rd day, her bell was mysteriously altered so it no longer rang......they refused to provide grape juice and cottage cheese, saying it was a "special item" that we had to provide. For 4000.00 a month, they can't give her a glass of grape juice!? 2 caregivers for a dozen incontinent, confused, unsteady residents! Same 2 must cook, clean, and care for these same residents. Many falls. Many folks transported via EMS to hospital. Residents left to entertain themselves most of the day. Moved mom back to Rittenhouse Village. She's happy again, finally.

Not happy

Mom was not happy in this facility. She is earlier stage Alzheimer's and was reassured many other residents were too. We moved her in and quickly found out she was the only resident who could finish a sentence. There are no call bells so everytime a confused resident stumbled in her room, she was forced to walk to wellness center to get assistance. One night a man in only his underwear wandered into her room, tripped over her walker, and fell into her chair. We were supposed to move her to the AL plus building, but for 2 months we were told weekly that "it will be open next week". Residents fell almost daily. There was a quiet sadness in the home. The food was not preared well and most residents could not chew it. Showers were hit and miss.....only 2 caregivers per house who have to care for, bathe, change incontinent folks, plus do ALL housekeeping, cooking, etc.....The care is not what we expected for what we paid.

Huge disappointment!

Unfortunately, the new Sachse location was a huge disappointment. Their emergency call system was a cow-type bell that didn't even work. We were told the memory care house had mostly early stage dementia residents like Mom. Not so......these poor folks just wandered around from room to room. Several fell many times during Mom's stay. With only 2 caregivers, it was impossible for them to supervise the "wanderers" who often took things from other's rooms. (We're still missing things....) They wouldn't even provide a soda, grape juice, cottage cheese, etc...but we paid 3900.00 a month. Same 2 caregivers were responsible for all cooking, housekeeping, showers, and patient care. I had to shower Mom often. They will tell you anything to get your money. We moved Mom back to Rittenhouse Village in Garland. She's happy now, and another resident has moved there from M.C. as well. I don't recommend this facility if you're looking for attentive, quality care for your loved one!

A concerned daughter

Only 2 caregivers for over a dozen confused, wandering, residents. My loved one is very scared in this facility. We pay 3900.00 monthly for little care. 2 aides (not certified) to cook, care for all residents needs, plus do all housekeeping! Many are young and though recipe's are provided, cannot cook! We are already looking to move mom out!!
