Morningside Elite Management

I would put my dad in Morningside again. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They keep me informed about any issues or medical problems. We picked this community because, of the cleanliness, price and it was closer to where I live. There were others closer but they were not clean or the price was much higher.

Our loved ones room could be better maintained which is why we gave the overall cleanliness a 3. The staff for the most part are friendly and really look after our loved one. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend The Landing of Collegeville to other families.

We toured Morningside House of Ellicott City and it was a great place. I really liked it. The Memory Care section is newly renovated and the rooms are nicer than some of the other facilities that we toured.

We chose Morningside over others mostly due to its location (on 5 mins from prior resident) and because they offer a month to month with a lower community fee than most other facilities in the area. The staff all seem friendly and helpful. The community needs to work on its response time to panic buttons. They do provide weekly laundry and room cleaning.

Our family had an in person tour and from everything that we saw, it really appeared to be a nice place but they were not able to accommodate our loved one due to her level of care being to high.

Situation: 71 year old mom had a stroke resulting in need for PT and help getting in/out of bed. This facility is 100% private care which means all out of pocket. Whats good: 1. Lowest room rent cost of the 5 places I looked @ $3500/month 2. Staff attitude is above average 3. Food is above average 4. Facility activities above average 5. Location has many services nearby Whats bad: 1. low transparency on in-house Dr and RX bill is facility provided 2. Rates just hiked 8%-10% for year 2023. 3. Vax authorization form lacks non-mRNA vax option. 4. No internet/phone competition - only Comcast 5. Room cost. 10x10foot room w/ shared bathroom is $3500/month

In my experience, the Memory care floor is not as clean, attentive, or professional as the other two floors, but this is new to me so I don't have another facility to compare.

They have aides and some techs that have been there for quite a while who are caring and skilled and treat the residents well. It seems there are newly hired or agency aides who have limited skills or desires to assist a resident. The general areas or community areas are well maintained and clean. The maintenance person is always helpful. The activities person is good always trying to get people to participate and seems to gather enthusiasm. Value for cost is not the best.

I toured this community and it was ok. The staff seemed just ok and cleanliness wasn't great.

Morningside has changed management recently. Because of that, they are now back to rebuilding their staffing and the care that's offered to the residents. I believe once new management is up and running, I would be able to rate them 5's all the way across the board. When I have concerns, they are apologetic and assure me that they will implement action to make improvements.

Overall it was a decent place. Some things could be improved, but better than the homes that except Medicaid. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, as with anywhere nowadays there were a few that did as little as possible. Our person often told me they would take forever to get her to the bathroom. I observed one aide who did everything possible not to get to the room, but that was one aide. Most were friendly and treated people with respect. For the $XX,XXX a month that my person paid, the aides weren't being paid enough and it reflected in their service. Otherwise it's better than [two community names removed]. When you arrived at the dementia floor you didn't get knocked out by the smell of urine like I did at [community name removed], and the staff pays way more attention to the patients than either [two community names removed].

What sticks out about Sunrise of Blue Bell is everyone is friendly and the facility is clean, there are also always staff available.

I attended a birthday dinner for the month of [date removed], as this was my mom's birthday month. I want to comment on how pleased I was with the meal as well as the service of the staff. I had requested if the chef could do something different for my meal, which he did (changed the vegetable). This is the second time (year) the chef has accommodated my request, which I appreciated. Also, the food was excellent, so kudos to the chef !!! Also, I want to thank [name removed] for assisting my mom with eating her meal, which I was unable to do. [name removed] came to the activity room and was able to help mom eat her dinner. She is very patient with my mom, even in memory care, so thank you [name removed] for your patience and assistance.

It is a nice place, unfortunately they weren't able to provide the level of care my mother needed. Everyone was very friendly especially the staff. They were experiencing some staff shortage which seems to be common in many places these days. But other than noted concern was a nice place.

We went with Poet's walk because of the location, the positive ratings, and it is a dedicated memory care facility. The focus of the entire facility is on memory care. I gave a 4 on meals is because it is a set limited selection versus residents choosing from a menu. Medical decisions and evaluations when ordered with the doctors should all be coordinated with the family/guardian of the resident when decisions are being made. The facility is spacious and large with lots of activities. Most of the rooms that are offered here are private rooms and the hallways are color coded.

The care at this community is excellent. I feel safe with my dad being here and I feel like he is being well taken care of. They are very helpful with him and making sure that they call him for meals and making sure that he gets the medical attention that he deserved. They have activities posted like country buss rides, going to get ice cream and more but its only about once a week. They have other activities also daily, sometimes they also have bingo but the activities are not things that my loved one likes so I think they could have a bigger variety of things. I do persuade my father from time to time to go on the rides and I like that they will give my loved a push to participate also. The tour at this community was great.

My husband was only here for a couple of weeks. He was a very difficult case, he had dementia and they have 2 different levels of care at this facility. They have those who have beginning stages of dementia and he was in the lower level of the more severe cases. There were 5 women and none of them really talked or walked around much and my husband was very anxious and wanted to get out. He did take a couple of falls while he was here but I think it was no fault of theirs. After he got back from the hospital we put him on hospice. Overall the staff really tried their hardest while he was here and the management was very good and super caring.

We toured this facility and really liked what we saw. Unfortunately it was just too expensive for us and they were not willing to budge on the price. The staff were great with follow-up after the fact and asking if we needed anything else.

Going into any community is hard and you should be patient. Generally Sunrise tried their best to be there for my loved one. Most of the staff are excellent and take care of my loved ones needs.
