This was one of the places we looked at while we were touring. While we liked that it was elegant, and that they had a flat rate, it sort of smelled, and the floors creaked. My loved one also did not like the idea of an elevator, and the public restroom they had there was disgusting. I liked that they had a lot of different floor plans to choose from, and Bill was really friendly. It was also a little further away than we wanted to be.

Some of the staff could be more helpful.

This is for the memory care area. Some of the staff could be more helpful. The food is good I would give it a four. The care is not quite as intimate or personalized as I would hope, and the caregivers don't take much initiative. Small things that could be taken care of quickly and easily, will be sent down the chain of command. I feel like I don't see much genuine concern, they don't call and tell me when she is out of things, or if something is going on. I don't feel very comfortable with the place. It is a beautiful building inside and out. I am just so surprised. We were so impressed by how clean and beautifully decorated it was. I just don't feel like the nursing staff has been treating them right.

It is the best of times, it is the worst of times

I have never lived in a "senior place" before, so I can't compare this place fairly. If it was my place, I'd say the carpets, especially the public ones, need cleaning. Maintenance is run by a guy who is very unpleasant. Bishop Place could use an orientation packet to explain the electric and climate control features. Some activities are ghostly--art therapy is coloring in coloring books alone. The M-F exercise class is really fine, and is accessible to individuals who are handicapped. I could really use help hanging curtains, but cannot bring myself to ask maintenance for help--sort of sad. Outside there is a dump for discarded furniture and appliances. Two concerts were great. So, it's a mixed bag!

SPEAKING OUT !

My mother has been here for two years and after the first year she's been in hospice here and inconsistent. She complains about the food often as do her old dinning table friends. As for her room it's untidy and unorganized often. Her telephone and tv remote has been found in inconspicuous places to often and she is bed ridden. Her washed clothes, bedding, and towels placed in various locations.Every time I visit I find that I can organize something not in lace and floors a bit dirtier than I'd like.Lately it's been improving somewhat but gas been runned inconsistent through 2018.Now that I report here I will monitor the conditions and soon to speak up more often.

Think Twice! Patients are not well cared for.

I have an extended family member at McLoughlin and I am very concerned for her well being. I went to see her with my Aunt last Friday and it is very clear that she not being taken care of. Her hair had not been washed for days, clothes were filthy, her room smelled like urine, a stranger's jacket was in her closet, and her own PCP said that the care she was receiving is poor. The caregivers seem relatively friendly but I have serious concerns with mid- and upper-level management that allow conditions such as this. They are paying over 7K per month (that's what my aunt told me) . McLoughlin has two facilities, one for those who can pay 86K per year and those on Medicaid. I haven't seen the Medicaid facility but I have seen Medicaid facilities elsewhere that are cleaner than McLoughlin. The Director basically ignored us when we walked in and the Sales Director told my Aunt that the private facility would start taking Medicaid. If this is BS, then I will be on it myself as I desperately care for both my Aunt and my Uncle.

Good intentions: they do not fulfill what they offer.

Lovely physical setting. Too many things went missing. What would have been in the best interest of my husband was not available. I went in every day but 2 days in his first 2 weeks. I had to take him out mainly for his physical health. When he has to be placed again I will probably choose a smaller unit with more individual care.

Has steadily gone downhill

My parents have lived here for several years, and while many of the front line staff are very kind and caring, this place (like so many others) has gone steadily downhill. You are promised all kinds of things when you sign on that are never followed through with. You have to ask over and over to have anything fixed, or get proper lighting (no overhead lighting in rooms!)...and it never gets done. The meals are TERRIBLE, and definitely not healthy. Every year they increase the rates significantly, and the quality goes down. It's a clear example of extraction - the highest priority being as much profit as possible while scaling down the quality wherever they can. They are consistently understaffed and have a high turnover rate. We are moving my parents to a different facility soon, and hope for a better experience for the money.

The level of care was terrible. When we moved mom in they said they would change her diaper 3 times a night and give her pain pill to her every 4 hours as the doctor ordered. But they could never do that. Even tough they promised. They make lot of promises to get you in the door, but never keep their promises. Lots of lies!! I would not recommend this place to others.

Nice people, but poor management

I originally chose this facility for its smaller size, as my mom had recently had a serious illness and I thought a larger facility would be overwhelming. Also, I was impressed with the friendliness and longevity of the staff. However, over time, poor business practices, which included unresolved questions with billing, paying for services which my mom did not receive even though she and I talked with multiple personnel, and meal wait times of over an hour on a regular basis have led me to believe this is a mid-managed facility. My mom is leaving on [date removed] and moving elsewhere. I would not recommend The meadows.

I would not recommend that nursing home again.

Family doesn't know what goes on when they are not there. I would find other people sleeping in her bed. They put everyone in the gathering room during the day. I think they are understaffed. We feel like we were sold a bottle of snake oil

We needed to find my parent a memory care facility. We viewed different available rooms and the rest of the facility. We were impressed and decided right then and there to pursue it. The day after move in, was the first negative experience. Finding your parent, who is largely not ambulatory and incontinent lying in bed at noon, still in their pajamas that you dressed them in the night before, in a pool of their own urine is enough to make you angry. Next negative experience...walking in to see their food from the prior meal sitting uneaten, but with their mandatory and necessary medication "hidden" in the rice, will also make you angry. Third negative experience...arriving on day 3 and finding them lying in bed again...at lunchtime...again...only this time covered from head to toe in feces and the toilet covered in feces will AGAIN make you angry. The care is less than adequate for the $[removed] a month paid. Not pleased at all. Need more than 1000 characters to fully express my discontent.
