Nice meal selection!!

I have no complaints of how things are going for my mother since she has recently made the move into this community. They have a great staff on hand and I am comfortable with the care they are providing her. She has had no complaints about the meals and enjoys participating in a few of the activities they have available. Overall it has been a great fit and we are pleased.

Great tour !!

I had a great tour of this community and the staff was very kind and gave my mother and I lots of great information as well as answered any questions we may had for them. Everything seemed to be fine however there was an overwhelming odor throughout the building that really was unpleasant for us. I just did not think this was the right fit for my mother.

It's Okay to be a Squeaky Wheel

I vetted quite a few facilities before I chose The Mansion. I particularly liked the fact that it is about 3 minutes from my house and that it is an all-inclusive price rather than point-based. I also liked the atmosphere, it was clean and everyone seemed very friendly. However, we didn't get off to a very good start. The day after I moved her in, I told them I needed to pick her up at 10 a.m. for a new doctor appointment. She was still in her pjs and hadn't eaten breakfast when I arrived, and the staff said that she "didn't know she was there." Seriously? Other issues I had basically had to do with inattentiveness and lack of communication. She wasn't on a bathing schedule for a couple of weeks, I couldn't get answers about whether or not they would get her prescriptions filled by a company that took her insurance (come to find out they do not . . . you have to use who they chose), getting physical therapy services ( I thought they were working on this and come to find out, it was my responsibility to find and arrange . . . it took them over a month to tell me this), Mom was taking most of her meals in her room, wouldn't dress or go down to any activities and often times I would find cold, uneaten food still in the container in her room. HOWEVER once I had an opportunity to meet with the Director and Nurse and discuss her care plan, there has been noticeable improvement. I think the moral of the story is that no matter where you place your loved one, it is important to stay involved, ask questions and to bring any concerns to the facility's attention. I am pleased to report that Mom is acclimating nicely and that she they are being more attentive to her needs.

Good value, truly caring caregivers, and excellent activities program.

In 2015 my parents moved in, their 3rd facility in a year. Cascade Valley Senior Living was chosen because my father needed the memory care, but my mother did not. So each had their own room, but they could visit and eat together any time they wanted. The military discount was a nice bonus. It was not any more expensive than the previous facility where they shared one room. My father has since passed away. The caregivers in both sections were/are so kind and caring. The activities program in Assisted Living is wonderful and just what my mom needs. There are multiple opportunities for group activities every day, including excercises, bingo, modified bowling, crafts, anagrams, cookie baking every Monday, just to name a few, Plus happy hour every Friday! There are regular church services and Bible studies conducted by outside churches. Occasionally there is entertainment from the outside. For those that care to take part, there are regular outings for shopping, dining and scenic drives in the facility bus. The facility is in the process of updating the decor, finding a new director, and hiring some new caregivers. My review is based on experience to date. There were a few bumps in the road in the beginning, but things smoothed out once communication improved and I am so happy mom is enjoying her time and making new friends.

communication and observance need improving

At The Mansion at Waterford there are some issues with the care. Their communication and observance need improving. They need more staff. They cant provide quality care with the amount of staff they have. So I have hired an outside caregiver since she needs more care and a companion. Their rates are so low though that we can afford to, which is nice. There is nothing so major here that we would move her. We are staying here.

Need more people to help

They could improve on taking care of the residents. We have gone in a couple times and my loved one has been on the floor and no one has caught him. We went in yesterday and he did not have his teeth in and they didn't put them in until the afternoon, so he ate breakfast with no teeth. The workers there are very friendly, they just need more help.

A Place for Moms

Pricing has been in question. Quoted one price and then another and then charged something else entirely. Most of the staff is very nice and treat residents living there like family. The meals are good and the residents have snacks in between. My mother is happy with most of the food. The rooms are set up well with plenty of closet space, except the bathroom could have more cabinetry for the units that share rooms. There could be more varied craft/activities. The music venues seem to be pretty fun for the residents. Maybe more exercise programs.

Some slow response time but overall, we're happy

The care is okay, there was a couple of times thet my mom ends up calling me because she says she pushes the button and no one came and thats generally after 10 and I went there myself one time and pushed the button and we sat there and waited 45 minutes and no one came, so that's the only concern I have. if its very late in the even theres just nobody there. We've just seen it that one time i really noticed it, we pushed it there other night and someone was there a couple of minutes, it could be that the other person is gone, so I try not to jump to conclusions. It may have bene a one time thing but I do notice that if its late in the evening and i need to go really look for somebody. She really likes the exercise and she enjoys whenever they have an ice cream social or popcorn, she really enjoys when they have someone come in during dinner that performs and she really likes that. The one thing she absolutely hates is that she can't have tylenol or something in her room, she has allergies and she can't have benadryl so that just drives her crazy, but other than that i think she likes it.

Review for The Renaissance of Stillwater

I have to say, at this time, the Renaissance is going through some upheaval and tough times living up to their promises. They're having chronic staff problems leaving them understaffed a great deal of time and pushing the really good workers who come in for double and triple shifts to the point where we just had five quit this last weekend. It's causing a lot of stress and strain and services get cut back. Laundry and room cleaning is slowed way back and the food quality goes up and down as they have not been able to maintain any kind of continuity in their cooking staff. Some of the evening meals are the worst with sometimes half the guests not bothering to come down to dinner or not bothering to stay. And what people pay to stay here it's disheartening to have to order food from Walmart to cook ourselves when we're already paying for a dinner. Breakfast and lunch are pretty good most of the time but it depends on who's doing the cooking and because of the staff shortages half the time Tara chill or Stacia come in and are cooking themselves and even the maintenance staff chips in. They move people around in and out of positions to suit what their personal needs are. Not what is the best for the residents necessarily. Now next to some of the other places I have heard about apparently this is a palace. A major problem we have is that they welcome presidents to have pets but they deny us Transportation with same pets to a veterinarian on their bus stating allergies as a preventative. Which doesn't make sense as people are living in the buildings with the same animals.

Review for Skyline Place

Cleanliness is marginal at best. The weekly room cleaning is very superficial. There are many individual staff members that are very attentive and sweet. There are others that are rude and condescending. Much of the time the responsiveness of the staff depends on the staffing pattern. I've heard the staff say multiple times say that they are "understaffed" therefore cannot meet all of the needs of the residence. However, they charge for individual needs, even though they're not always being delivered as advertised.

So far so good with the Renaissance. They was a small issue with there first months rent discount and applying it properly, but other wise, so far so good. It's not as nice and glamorous as Stonecreek was, but I think the Renaissance staff is working well for my mom.

Not a place I would recommend

I would tell other families that if you are in an assisted living facility and you have to have a PICC line they won't let you stay there but they will continue to charge you for your apartment and all the food that you're not there to eat. So families need to be aware of that potential financial burden. This is not a place that I would recommend.

McLoughlin Place is a place I would recommend with regular monitoring. Trust but verify.

Our interactions with staff have been positive and when asked they respond but our concerns are always addressed with "I'm new", I'm with the agency", "they didn't tell me about that". We know the permanent staff and seldom have concerns with their work, unless we see that there are insufficient workers assigned to the shift." McLoughlin Place has some great staff but they have lost a few of their permanent staff lately and replaced them with temporary staff. Some of these temporary staff are OK others we are evaluating. I suspect maintaining staff in care facilities is a challenge but I think astute management will be the key to ensure the employee care is adequate.

All the Glitters Is Not Gold

The reality does not match the sales pitch or brochure. poor staff to ownership relationships, and the very good ones end up leaving. Housekeeping is non-existent at the moment due to staff shortage. Nursing and Care staff have to pick up the load when it comes to laundry trash and housekeeping right now. My room has not been cleaned at all this week. They say we received three Chef prepared meals a day. There's a lovely lovely Latin American Family who does the cooking, but I can't believe these are certified chefs. and the food was so full of carbohydrates when I got here that I actually had to complain. It's just the cheapest food they can get to keep everybody fed. It's more like nursing home food. No exercise room as advertised, no physical activities on a regular basis. They refuse to let us take our pets to the vet on their bus. But they say they are pet friendly. Bus only runs Tuesday and Thursday, $50 a ride any other day. None of that is in brochure. Much more call me.
