Everyone was friendly & cared for my husband exceptionally. Had nurses checking on him every 30 min 24/7. Even cut up food & made sure he ate. Very satisfied with the facility. Sadly, he passed away but...

Kennesaw Place Experience

I would tell other families looking to not move your loved ones here!!! They did not do their jobs properly or on time. We had a lousy experience at Kennesaw Place.

Sad but true!

I had a friend that decided to move here with the help of [name removed]promises she would be in great hands . What a horrible mistake that was! She ended up living here for a year and some change before I was able to get her out. She became so depressed and crying every time I would leave. This place sucked the life outta her. She literally became bedridden while she was here. Each time I visited I never saw the same caretaker. I wouldn't leave my dog here! There is a Happy ending... I moved my friend out in [date removed]and she has her joy back she's smiling now and she is well taken care of. What a difference I she in her! I wouldn't recommend this place for no one you care for!

Our families experience

I would never recommend Avery place to any family. They need to hire more educated caretakers for the common room provide for the residents That. need to be turned in their beds. There are no available assistants to leave the common room to go to the rooms that are bedridden to turn that resident. I found that the meals that were sparse in amount

Not that good

There is high staff turnover and lack of compassion Staff has their favorites and the rest of residents are out of luck I know COVID has taken its toll on employees, but the residents care is their responsibility

Not safe- lack of staff training- Resident escaped locked memory care.

My mother was a resident here for a short time in 2016. I reviewed several places in the local area. I liked the looks of the place and visited a few times at off hours before deciding. My Mom was moved into the Memory Care side. She has Alzheimer's. She was very active and distressed about being in a new place. She kept going to all the doors trying to leave. They placed an arm band on her to alarm them when she was close to doors. She was always walking around and setting the alarms. About 10 days into her stay she held a door long enough that it opened. The alarms sounded and the staff disregarded the alarm. She was found in the middle of Treble Gap Road by a worker on break. The staff in the "locked" memory care side had no idea that she was missing. We were notified after the fact that she got out but the details were not presented. After talking to several staff members I learned the truth. Some of the caregivers would "Play" ball with residents. It was supposed to be a gentle game bouncing a beach ball around. The staffers were seen beaming the beach balls at residents heads. Doors of vacant rooms were left unlocked with extra furniture which was a hazard. Residents were left unattended in the garden sitting in the sun getting sunburned. Pretty setting and nice space but horrible care. The space is too large for the staff to keep eyes on everyone. My mom was moved after less than two weeks. A memory care center is supposed to keep a loved one safe...not let them escape!

Stay away from Lanier Place

I would advise to run the other way. We took my loved one there because she was starting to forget her meds and it was convenient and close for us. Our loved one was there for a month and she was at the end of the hall. There was a door at the end of the hall that lead to the courtyard and she was scared that someone would come in and hurt her. She did not want to stay in the room because she thought someone was going to get her. We had to come there because they called us and stated that she was having a psychotic breakdown and that she had to leave. We asked if she could move to memory care and they still stated that they could not keep her. Even though they made her leave they still required a 30 day notice from us and billed us for excess months when she was gone and they required the move.

Deplorable

Management needs to come down from the ivory tower and get a good look at what isn't going on. Residents rooms are dirty, carpets need cleaned, trash needs emptying, beds need changed and laundry baskets are overflowing. The menu is the same week after week and the residents struggle to identify what is on their plates, let alone choke it down. Most of the staff could care less about the residents or their needs. They are there just to do the least they can to collect a paycheck on the afternoon shift. The activities director and the day shift seem to genuinely care about the residents, their needs and overall happiness, but that isn't enough.
