Merrill Gardens

When I toured the Merrill Gardens at Tacoma, I noticed that the place was very nice and so were the people. When I got there for my tour, the tour guide was on time and had a lot of information for me. The place was a good choice, but we picked another community that we thought would for my mother's needs better.

This looked like a nice community when I visited. This community is in a busy area, however I was looking for something a little quieter. The people I met were nice.

My parents moved here and my mother is not happy but it's nothing to do with the community, she is just adjusting. She feels she was forced into it. From my perspective I would rate them a 5 but given her standpoint I gave them a 4. The people are wonderful and the community is very nice. They cook and clean for her and I'm so glad she doesn't have to worry about that. We chose this community because everyone was so wonderful and welcoming and the price was something we could afford.

The residents are nice and dad has made some friends. They offer daily activities. He seems to enjoy the food. I thought it was good quality food similar to cafeteria style food. The community is clean and I would recommend it. Compared to others this community is very good. The community does show it's age in certain places, however overall the look and feel is pretty good. Dad has a first floor apartment with a security door to an outside patio.

My mother in law is doing well since her move to the community. She has mentioned that the staff is having some turnover. She is enjoying the place as much as she can being away from her home. The meals are good, but they recently lost their chef and the food is not as good as it used to be. Other than that, they take good care of her.

Everything went well when we went here. The place was very clean and very nice for the most part. The people treated us well and made sure that they answered all of our questions. The price was a big reason why did not pick this community.

Pleasant surroundings, nice extras (washer/dryer in apt.), good location. Considering it at present.

At the Willow Park, I really liked the cottages, they were like little houses. When we went, they had nothing available at the time, though. Also, I did not care for the assisted living side. The place they showed us was not what we were looking for.

When we toured thew Sheldon Park, we did not like the setup. The place reminded us of another community that we had already had a bad experience with and it did not give off the best vibe.

It is all going well for me and my husband since moving. We are waiting for a bigger room until it becomes available. Everything from the meals to how clean it is has been good.

We weren't there long because we felt that it was unfit and didn't like the atmosphere. it was along the lines of a nursing home. My uncle did not need that. I was able to meet with them and I was treated very friendly.

I had a good tour of this community. It is nice place. The community looked nice and clean. The staff was kind and friendly. Everyone was very nice too my family and myself. My tour went well.

The Sheldon Park was a beautiful community to tour. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming when we were walking around. The reason we ended up choosing another community because this one was just too expensive.

Overall, I'm very happy, though some things were a little disappointing. They could use a better introduction to the services available.

The Sheldon Park was a very nice place, and the lady that took me on the tour was very polite. The thing I did not like was the memory care unit. It was depressing and looked very dirty, I was not impressed. Their program seemed great, but I just did not like the vibe.

I had a pleasant tour of this community. It is a very nice place with very kind people. The community looked nice and very well maintained. It was a good experience. All the staff was nice and informative. You could tell they know what they are doing here. My tour went well.

This facility was very clean and friendly. We were impressed with the staff and with the administrator. All of our questions were answered satisfactorily and even some we hadn't thought of. This is a strong possibility for our loved one.

This community has a separate building for memory care. I just did not get the feeling this would work for us. The person that conducted the tour was nice and accommodating. The community seemed clean during our tour.

Positives: Super professional but friendly staff. Lovely community facilities. Lots of programming and support. LOVE the fact that once you move in you don't have to move again if you need to shift from "independent" to "assisted" living. Apartments are relatively spacious and contemporary. Cons: Fewer younger, truly independent residents than, say, [Removed]. Setup of building results in long dark hallways that are very nondescript and feel a bit institutional. Quite expensive.
