Very nice facility but does not have nursing home facility in the case of rehab or more skilled care.

It was an okay tour. The community felt isolated with not a lot of shopping centers nearby. The apartments were smaller than other communities we looked at and the value didn't seem as good to us.

My mom was a resident for 2 1/2 Years .. she was there for safety and daily care... as time wore on, aging and dementia took over.. recently she got out of the facility through a back door, and fell down a hill ( at 3AM) luckily there were no injuries and she returned to her apartment... she tried again, and wee were informed “ they couldn’t handle her” ( 92 yo, 122 lbs.. we started efforts to transfer her, and a day later they called us to say they were going to call the police to calm her down!! What kind of “ Caring “ facility threatens patients like that?? What kind of staff is left in charge there??? It has gone downhill since Meridian took over— but this needs to be looked at.

The Assisted Living residences are great and caregivers are plenty and very helpful. Sadly, when your parent goes to Memory Care (Generations at Cypress) there is one staff member usually on duty for a few hours when all 25+ residents are downstairs. We’ve seen residents on the floor (fallen) as well yelling for help without assistance. They will pull any extra caregivers from Generations to go to Assisted Living area severely leaving Generations understaffed but then Management charges more for rent due to hiring more caregivers that never come to Generations but are used solely in the Assisted Living section. It’s odd. They do have good activities and special events. However, for daily residents and for meals in Generations resident are not reminded or checked in due to their understaffing. Sometimes just a knock on their door and a voice from the other side stating “Dinner”. The supply charges and daily assistant charges are erroneous. They miss showers and don’t wake residents for breakfast because of lack of staffing. It just needs a huge overhaul and more solid direction. Bottom line... I would recommend the Independent and Assisted Living but no way would I trust my loved one in their memory care.

I have been looking for sometime for a good place for my mother. I have an Aunt there and I can only visit with her on Fridays and Weekends. I was very happy to see the Catholic Priest there saying Mass and then later working in the Activities along with the Friday party time. Never saw a Priest with so much energy. Meals were OK and that staff really worked hard at meal time trying to get things out for the residents, even with them being short of help. However I saw a lot of negative things there. Staff on their cell phones all the time, not really caring about the residents. One time my wife and I came in to see our Aunt in the evenings and there was NO Nursing available. We were told they were outside on smoke break. This is not acceptable. I asked one nurse where could I find assistance for my aunt and she said, she did not know and had NO time for me. She was very rude. They should fire her, I know since I own a business I should would. I could go on but I will not. I have told my Cousins what has happened and they are looking for a new caring facility. I am trying to find out the company who owns them and write them directly, but as all big companies are they would not do anything about it other than raise the rent which they have 3 times on my Aunt. This company is only looking for the money and not the care. I would not put my dog here. If it was me......I WOULD STAY AWAY from the Meadowlands.

My mom went into the facility very apprehensive about staying here, and was admitted to their Memory Care assisted living unit. Sure this facility is brand new, and has all the extravagant furnishings and newness to it, But once the newness wears off and you family and friends start to see the reality, Its a distorted picture. My mom was in the facility for less than two months due to her symptoms of anxiety, and mental state started to decline while here very rapidly and the family witnessed this as well. The response from the staff there was very complacent and lacked follow thru regarding my concerns of her health and anxiety. Once the payments were received, she was just another person in a room adding to their occupancy level in my opinion. I called the Wellness Director to request the nurse practioner to see my mom for sinus symptoms, and was told, "I am dealing with staff issues at the moment". There was never any follow thru for my mom to be seen. This is just one of the many reasons, My family and I made the decision to bring Mom back home! Our phone calls were not returned and emails have not been responded to regarding a refund request for items that "came up missing" Mom brought in with her, and a refund for days she was no longer residing at Lane Park however was paid for thru the 1st of the month as well. There was negligence in care of Mom's room from house keeping. I found myself going daily to ensure her room was kept up and cleaned for her as well. Its been an eye opening experience, to see the changes that happen with the staff once payments are being received even though Mom was only here less than two months!

Overall, this residency is ok however some of the complaints my mother has is the food is not great, rather uninspired and institutional. Quite often menu items are not available. This is due to the menu being made in advance of placing orders with their suppliers and if items are not available through the suppliers, they are not received. The (minor) extra step of updating the menu is not taken. Meals become very important and it is disappointing when you see something on the menu that you have your heart set on and then to be told it's not available. The Sales Director is very involved right up until you sign the contract and then she disappears. During "pre-signing" conversations, requests for follow up on certain information was promised but then never delivered. Documentation on the specifics of the add-on services is not provided so it's not clear what exactly you are paying for. The staff however appear to be very dedicated, pleasant and patient. I have encountered staff coming in on their scheduled days off to address issues or provide coverage.

I would tell others looking to ask about what the staff covers in helping the residents, and about the nurse! The cleaning of the residence needs to be looked over. And spiders and bugs?! There's so much they need to know should ask a lot of questions! I would not recommend The Glenwood based off of our personal experience.

I was told my mom and her UTI issues would be handled and they were not. I was called in the middle of the night that she was in her right mind and she requesting to go to the hospital when indeed she had a UTI. The medical onsite staff changed almost weekly and communication was not passed on correctly. The place lookes lovely but is only a dumping ground for elderly. Very few people there really cared.

This was me and my husband for first trying independent living. We are very unhappy with the staff and some rules for the Residents and meal. Is very bad also service. We stay only 3 months. We don't know we are going to try another independent living or not at this time. All that 3 months contract We only stayed that place 20 nights.

They play a bait and switch game here. The apartment was not ready. The nine drawers they showed in the model were not in my apartment. [name removed] said she changed contractors and the new one doesn't provide drawers. When she saw how disappointed I was she was able to put in 3 small draws, to accommodate the dishwasher. The granite was not sealed then they did do the bathrooms and said they were all sealed. So every time I put anything wet on the granite in the kitchen it stains. They'd rather believe the contractor than their own eyes. Shelves in the Master bathroom need 2 29 " ones but they are reluctant to supply them. They only gave me one shower curtain rod till I begged for one in each bathroom. They finally supplied that last week after I have lived here a month. There are more than 5 empty car spaces in front of Assisted Living Entrance but they refuse to assign one to me. Instead they want me to walk a block down the hill on uneven ground to get my car.. I do enjoy the activities, the variety of foods, and the other residents but I feel very uneasy with the administration. My advice would be not to call Merrywood home.

Most of the staff was great but at the time they head a man named [name removed] who was director of health. And due to his inability to do his job he put my mother in the hospital. I will leave it at that. Moved her out as soon as I could.

The facility uses a lot of "Agency" help that are only there as temps and not there long enough to learn the residents personalities and mannerisms which is extremely important with elders to be able to see potential medical issues.

The food is horrible. For $[removed] a month the food should be top notch. [price removed] for a studio!!! They gave my mother a covid vax when they were explicitly told DO NOT DO IT. We had paperwork filled out saying NO VACCINE!!!! They didn't care.

What they could improve on is The food! the food is very repetitive tasteless and sometimes u don't even know what it is!

Housekeeping is hit and miss. Family member empties full garbage cans in room. And runs sweeper if necessary. Changed TV service to Direct TV and has blurry picture. Have overdrawn my mom’s checking account twice because of poor book keeping systems. All lift assists are done by local fire department. So you lay on the floor until they get there.

Staff needs more training Never smile always complain about someone or there job not enough things happening call light always on cleaning people never want to come back can’t get something if not on the menu

I see most reviews that are good and I am glad some people like it. However this was not the experience my mom had in the memory care side. She was very sad most of the time! She was locked in that ward and just that tiny patio. I did not like it at all for her, some employees were very nice and tried to help as they could. My mom finally fell and broke her hip, so fortunately my brother had to take her out of that place. It might work for some people not for her!

My apartment is home.

Management turnover is high. Have had bad experiences with more than one wellness director. Could have been just bad luck. Care staff is about 50/50 with regard to attentiveness, especially in memory care. I would not recommend them.
