A Place for Mom has scored Mercy House with 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 27 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Mercy House has 111 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
The only activity I was aware of was an employee picnic. The medicine was not given properly. The bathrooms were kept locked. The food was poor. There were no activities for residents. The administration was unable to help with our issues. We withdrew my mom after only a few days. The staff would often be in the other physical building so unable to help. Also the other residents were not alert enough to be companions.

I would not recommend Mercy House of New Braunfels to anyone that has a loved one that needs extra help and is in the last stage of life. They are under staffed and if your loved one is unable to feed themselves or toilet themselves. This is not the place for them. Mom was unable to talk and tell us anything but her health rapidly declined once moved in. They have a nice staff and facilities it is just understaffed and poorly run.

Our family had an in person tour and we were just not really impressed with it at all, it was to small and we knew it was just now the place for our loved one.

No bathrooms in the room, they are in the hall and the clientele have to get a staff member to unlock the door. This was not the place for our mom.

I do not recommend this facility. We met with management on [Date Removed] regarding ongoing safety and care concerns. The front gate has been broken for months, wheelchair access is difficult to not possible, and exterior areas had wasp nests, debris, and slip hazards. Cameras are not monitored, some do not work, and evening/overnight shifts are not overseen. Despite being told residents are checked every two hours, our family-installed camera showed our father placed in bed mid-afternoon on [Date Removed] and left there for many hours. We also documented him awake and mumbling throughout the night, yet staff were unaware. On[Date Removed] we requested a room change after repeated physical aggression from his roommate and provided video evidence. The owner was frequently on-site but never engaged with families. Our family expected a safe, attentive, and well-managed environment. Instead, we encountered unresolved maintenance issues, inconsistent supervision, and limited accountability.

We pulled mom out after only two days. First, they messed up her medications, multiple times. Second, they left the bathroom locked because one of the residents was putting silverware in the toilet. One time when mom needed to use the bathroom there was no staff in the house, they were apparently across the way in the second house Not only did this cause her to not be able to use the restroom, I feel it was very dangerous having no staff in the house at any time. Third, we brought some food specifically for her to be able to have in between meals, at their suggestion. We brought bread, peanut butter and jelly. However, when she asked for a snack, they couldn't find the food. I did not feel safe having mom stay there. I debated reporting them to the State but ended up just focusing on mom I will say the one fantastic thing they did was set her up with a wonderful nurse practitioner for her wound care. Also, the food that they served was brought in from a local restaurant made into a large casserole dish, and they just spooned it onto the plates. My mom thought it was all horrible slop.

My dad lived at Rocky Hollow Lake House for over two years, and our experience over the last six months was deeply disappointing. Despite my mom repeatedly asking for Dad's room and bathroom to be mopped, his bed sheets to be changed, and for him to be showered at least twice a week, these basic requests were often ignored. The toilet in Dad's bathroom was out of order for multiple days. Dad lost 13 pounds during his last seven weeks at Rocky Hollow Lake House because the facility lost their cook. Additionally, there was constant turnover in the housekeeping, maintenance, and nursing staff, which severely impacted the quality of care and services. Due to these issues, my mom, sister, and I decided that Dad could not stay in this poorly managed facility any longer. We ultimately moved him to a different memory care facility where his needs could be properly met. I hope this review assists others in their search for a memory care facility for their loved ones.

We chose Sodalis Waco because they were offering the care we needed, they were the only place in town that provided daily respite care and I did not want to have to put him into a home. I would want others to be aware of the fact that they do not handle aggressive behavior very well. The director was not there to oversee what was going on and we have to end up transferring him. Overall, I would not recommend at this point.

My brother in law's mom lives here. Everything has gone downhill since new owners took over. Just thought you might want to revisit. How do I take this one off my list?

I took a tour not too long ago. Was not impressed. Very understaffed, the workers that were up and running were non stop. Theres not enough activities being done with residents. The price is way too high at the facility. Most of the caregivers were nice and willing to help others even with other things going on. When i was walking thru facility, i noticed the residents having trouble sitting in chairs , the bottom stayed up on most of them, that is a safety concern. Very loud as well. Not a place I'd be happy with taking my father.

Mercy House was a definite no for us. When we were touring none of the residents looked happy at all and the place was just down-trotting. They had 9 shared rooms and only 2 bathrooms. We were not impressed.
