Care and Patience

I like the care for my jusband at this community. We have found that the staff are very caring and friendly to our needs. The community is clean, but at times needs some small improvements. The menu is appealing witl alot of choices. They do have activities and he does like to participate in the smaller activities. I am happy with his care and would recommend the care and the value of this new staff to others .

Highly Recommended; Very Friendly and Gentle Memory Care

My mother-in-law is now a full-time resident of Sodalis Temple after two respite stays. We originally sought care for her during a planned family vacation, and had no intention of placing her in long-term care. However, she did so well at Sodalis that we were astonished. She actually did not want to leave and became very fond of her friends there, including the members of the staff who are very friendly and professional. My loved one is a very active, physically healthy 72-year old who suffers from moderately severe Alzheimer's and most of the normal cognitive impairments to be expected at this stage of her disease. She is still extremely independent and thrives on being able to help others, and Sodalis allows her to do this while making sure she and others are safe and well-cared-for. We did not imagine that we would let go of her without a major physical or mental event happening, but when we saw how positively she responded to the activities and opportunities for interaction at Sodalis, we quickly became convinced that this was the best environment for her. She may not have many years left to enjoy her independence and active lifestyle, and we want to make sure that whether she wakes up at 3 a.m. and wants company or wants to spend all day outside weeding the courtyard, or simply wants to sit with friends giving backrubs and hand massages (as she has done all her adult life for her husband who just recently passed away), she has the opportunity to do those things. She is loved and appreciated for exactly the little ball of love and fire she is. We couldn't be happier. I have visited many times unnounced at various times of the day and evening and have never seen or heard anything that has concerned me about this facility. We put them through a pretty rigorous vetting process (as we vetted three other memory care facilities in the area as well before choosing Sodalis) so we are very familiar with their capabilities and policies. Our loved one is very content at Sodalis. We were concerned that she would immediately want to leave (as she has often wanted to leave our house to go "home," which no longer exists) but she has never once asked us to take her home when we have visited there or taken her out for doctor's visits, shopping, or family meals. We are so grateful for Sodalis. Their staff is warm and I have spoken with many residents--none have had a negative thing to say about the care they have received there. We have a number of family friends whose loved ones have lived at Sodalis for a number of years and the feedback has been uniformly positive. Highly recommended.

Sodalis on Rock Street

The staff at Sodalis Rock St. genuinely care for their patients. They promptly answer any questions I may have, and keep me up to date on any special needs. I truly feel that my dad is in the best place available. I am very grateful to "A Place For Mom" for helping me find a place within our price range. Mary [removed] practically held my hand as she guided me through the process of selecting and viewing a good community, and getting Veterans Assistance set up, as well.

Why I chose Sodalis Memory Care for my Mom

I visited Sodalis three times before deciding to place my mother. Each time I visited it was at a different time of day. The home always smelled clean and usually had the smell of home cooking. The residents clean, dressed and usually involved in some type of activity. The staff did not appear over worked and they were very engaged with the patients. The whole place, staff, and people gave it a homey feel.

There's no place like home...but this comes pretty close...

My father-in-law was at The Lodge during his final months and his stay there surpassed our expectations. Before coming to The Lodge he was at three different places so we had something to compare it to. The staff is very attentive. They have a lot of activities and they make a great effort of getting the residence up and active doing something. In the days leading up to my father-in-laws death, his caretaker, Donna, even came in from home during the middle of the night to check on him. He loved westerns and when my father-in-law seemed unresponsive they had Bonanza playing on the TV just in case he could hear it. At times he was difficult to deal with but that didn't phase them. This is more than just a business to them, it's personal. My only regret is that we didn't put him at The Lodge sooner.

A wonderful caring home full of love for mom!

My mom has been in this home for several months and I am so pleased with her care. They consistantly meet the everyday care of my mom with love and compassion that is so warming to me. The manager and nurse on staff have gone above in care for mom and always eager to find solutions to her needs. Always there to help, is the staff that is so attentive to her well being and extremely accommodating. There are activities to keep her engaged and home cooked meals. The atmosphere is a home and not just a facility. They show such compassion and love to her. It is such a blessing to know that she now has an extended family that cares and loves her.

Sodalis-Temple was the just right place for Dad's final years

Our father was at Sodalis-Temple for over 4½ years. Our family is eternally grateful that Sodalis was there for us. Dad’s final years were ones of comfort, dignity, and friendship. Sodalis was just the right place for Dad for many reasons and I would like to share with others some of the most important to me. Intimate. The design of the houses and the small number of residents per house provide an environment that is more like a personal home than a care facility. The large great room becomes the natural gathering place and promotes social interaction. Otherwise, Dad probably would have kept to himself more and declined faster. The open kitchen allows residents to smell and see the meals being prepared. Dad really enjoyed food and would tuck right into the home-cooked meals! The intimacy of the layout allows a staff member to always be close at hand for aide or companionship. Safe. The exterior doors have both audible alarm and staff-only cipher lock. This ensures no resident will get out onto the street. Believe me - Dad would have been out that door in a heartbeat and at every opportunity. Dad loved being outside and going for walks. Sodalis has a secure fenced courtyard with a walking trail that allowed him to do this on his own, as much as he wanted. The bathrooms are shared and centrally located. This is a huge safety plus because the staff is aware of when someone is in the bathroom and keeps an eye out as needed. Caring. To me, the Sodalis staff are ‘saints and angels’. They became my extended family. They have very hard jobs but they are unbelievably patient, compassionate, and up-beat. Especially in his last year, Dad could be quite a handful – but the staff figured out how to handle it and stay positive about it. One of the very best things at Sodalis is that the intimate setting allows the staff to spend social time with the residents – sitting with them and talking or just holding their hand to give comfort. Dad was always clean and nicely dressed and was clearly fond of the staff. Sodalis was a God-send for our family. Even though we didn’t live close by, we never worried about Dad. We knew he was in good hands and the staff would call us if there was something we needed to know or decide. And Dad was able to spend his final years in dignity, in a caring environment, and as independently as his condition could permit.

We are like family

My dad has been a resident at The Lodge at Rocky Hollow for almost four years. It was difficult a difficult decision for me to make to put him in residential care, but from the very first telephone conversation I had, I was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. My questions were answered completely and honestly. I visited the next day and my initial impression was confirmed. I continue to believe that my dad is living in the right place and getting the best care available for his needs. The Lodge is bright and clean and staffed by caring and compassionate personnel, who treat both of us as if we are family.

Thabkful for the care at the Lodges!

I have a friend that has been a resident at the Lodges for almost two years. I visit her a few times a week so I have an opportunity to observe the interaction between the staff and the residents during various times of the day and I am very comforted to see the loving care each resident receives! They are treated like family in a very loving and caring way. The owner is on site and she has a very good staff! I am thankful for the Lodges and the wonderful care they give my dear friend!!

This IS the Caring Environment I was Looking For

I think finding a place that I could trust to truly take care of my mother’s needs was one of the hardest things I have ever attempted to do. She was diagnosed with cognitive impairment in 2010. By the time we found The Lodge at Rocky Hollow in 2012, she had suffered physically and emotionally at several other facilities which advertised expertise in caring for those with this disease. So, it was a very critical eye that first reviewed thelodgeatrockyhollow.com website. The key factors that led me to visit were 1) that it was privately owned – by someone who had personal experience and compassion for those with memory loss, 2) it is small (implying a lot of individual care) and located out in the country and 3) The Lodge at Rock Hollow is a Certified Dementia and Alzheimer’s Assisted Living center. The owner – Hope Paffe, General Manager - Donna Amburn, and the staff really do understand and accept the special needs of those living with memory loss and are joyful and compassionate in delivering care. They don’t try to force the residents to meet some “idea” of how the residents should behave and just accept them as they are – part of the family. The affection and care given each and every person (residents and family) by the staff is palatable when you walk in the door. They have also developed a TEAM of visiting doctors, dentists, podiatrists, psychiatrists, home health and other caregivers, like hair dressers and activity providers that are also skilled and passionate about the care of the memory challenged. The grounds and Lodge are always well maintained and clean. The security and safety of the residents is held to very high standards, while still allowing them the freedom to be as independent as they can be. The residents are always clean, alert and accepting of each other and the care givers. Despite her illness, my mom has flourished under their care. I cannot express how grateful I am for this gift to us both. It started when we first drove up and she said “Oh, this is lovely!” I encourage you to visit for yourself to see if The Lodge at Rocky Hollow feels like “home” for your loved one. Best wishes~

very pleased & at ease

I really like that the moment we walk in to the very second we walk out, we fell as if we are all family. The staff go above and beyond for us as well as the other families that visit their loved ones. I really like how involved management is with the residents, you don't see that at other places much. And the activity director is amazing! She is always coming up with ideas for each residents needs and having entertainment come out, which is what we really like for our loved one. We also like that it's out in the hill country and about a 5 minute drive from Sun City. So happy to have found the lodge.

Thanks to The Lodge At Rocky Hollow

Struggling with the decision to relocate your mother is one of the hardest decisions a child can ever make in their lifetime. The great people at The Lodge helped make this change a easier one for my mother and me. Safety, comfortable surroundings, superior medical care, nutrition were just some of my requirements. I so much wanted her to feel loved and wanted. The staff at The Lodge did just that. They treated her like one of their own. Just wanted to say "thank you" to all the wonderful souls that loved and took care of my mother. The Lodge At Rocky Hollow is a wonderful home away from home.

I drive two hours to get here, and it's worth it.

They are privately owned, so they are a little on the expensive side. It has been very nice, they have given me a list of all his meds and what the doses are, so I am kept up to date. They are really good about the communication they let me know if anything has changed with the medication. They have a group of psychiatrists from austin that will come if needed to adjust the medication. I drive two hours to get here, and it's worth it.

Great Care for my Husband

My husband really doesn't participate but they have activities. They're really working hard at trying to help him out. He's doing pretty well. They're very busy trying to get all their resources to help him. They're doing their best but I'm not sure how much my husband is cooperating. The location and the facility was why we chose them. We really didn't know anything about the people involved at that point but as soon as we got involved with the administration and the caregivers we found them all to be just so caring and trying to hard to make things be comfortable for my husband. They don't seem to have any turnover in staff. I usually go there everyday and they are working hard from what I can see. Also, there are lots of places to walk outdoors which my husband really likes to do.

Amazing Place

First of all, when we walked through the front door, the staff was very welcoming and the place smells extremely clean. There was no odors at all like in most places. I absolutely love the small homey feel of the community. The people that live there were very neat and clean. The staff was very attentive to the elderly needs and were cleaning as the residents would spill something. You can tell that they take great pride in their work and their building. Everyone was very cordial and answered all of my questions. This is a very wonderful place and I think that my mom will be very happy there.

waiting to move in

I haven't had an experience yet as my mother moves in hopefully next week. however I was able to look at this memory care facility and it looks great. its clean which is most important to me. I don't know if its well staffed I hope that it is. my mother has alzheimers and she needs that kind of care so the price I'm paying for her to be there should give her that kind of care. the prices listed on this site are not accurate and I will tell the people there at rocky hollow lake house...it fooled myself and my sister. it does need to be corrected. I just hope that she gets the best care for the money she is actually paying. the people seem nice there and that is a great plus. so I'm praying all goes well and I will report in after mom has been there awhile...God bless
