The community was friendly and encouraging, but the community was very expensive. There was an issue with the care received and the residence being check on every 2 hours.

I love that they have the dining room, it was the biggest thing for us. This doesn't feel like a cafeteria like a lot of other places we looked into. It feels more like a restaurant and they have a menu to choose from and are served. Right now it is hard because of the virus, but overall they have stayed on top of the medical needs of the residents. It does help to have an advocate family member. I would recommend the community to others.

Staff very friendly, not always responsive to issues at hand. Could be better with follow up.

I like the caregivers and I like the dining room staff. I've lived in three similar communities and the food is by far the best here.

We are losing a lot of our key people- several reasons I need to investigate problems- it's not always the employees fault- it has been a fine home over the last years! The star below has chopped during the last year and it's not due to covid 19. Thank you.

The aides are very nice and helpful to me.

I feel that the community was very nice. My loved one thought the community didn't ask enough questions to assist the residents in the best way for the resident. My loved one wasn't around people that were around the same medical condition, or ability. My loved one was overtaken care of by the nursing staff. My loved one kept falling when they were at this community. The food is not good.

I've only been here a short time, but I am not impressed.

We visited others and we chose this community because my mother in law is a smoker and she needed a place this she smoke safely. We did like everything about the community when we visited including the dining room was nice. The food is good with some variety in restaurant style dining. Her apartment is very nice. The laundry room has been inoperable for a month now which has been difficult for the residents.

Because there's been so much management change, the environment has been very unstable. There is no consistency which is very disruptive for the residents and the staff. I chose this community because it really seemed like a good fit at the time. I am very grateful for the caregivers that are taking care of my loved.

Virtual tour was good. Units are small and expensive. Would not consider this facility

Fairly large, old-world living. Reported nice food. Well reviewed. Not particularly fond of decor.

Staff is willing to work with residents, list to and accept suggestions and apply when able, provide activities that help our mental and physical being. Inner action between residents and the younger staff helps them with people skills. Outside services, 4 bus stops serving 6 bus routes and there are many retail shops within two blocks.

I do not have another community with which to compare. But there are many pluses and minuses in my experiences here.

love the personal, warm family vibe from the community. from the concierge, to the dining room and caregivers, there is a genuine , caring nature. However the meat of the matter came down to the wire when my mom succumbed to a virus, and the Nurse was not present Medically. Got off to a bumpy start after we learned she wasn't quite 1/2 way thru her probation...She didn't cross her T's, and dot her I's when it came to Rx's, and was determined to be Dorm Mom, relying mainly on heresy between caregivers, rather than checking on guests condition personally. Once approached she readily hastened to remedy any issue verbally, but failed to follow thru immediately, either because of laziness or overwhelmed with ...Authority..?? Supervisor skills..?? Not really sure, however the outcome ended in her being relieved of her duties..? Executive Director was prompt to react to my concerns and continues to oversee the weak spots. Also learned MBK has been acquired by an outside company... we are staying on High Alert, hoping for smooth transitions, and that "Carefree, Worry-Free You're in Good Hands" feeling we were offered just 60 days ago....

Too expensive.

All residents were participating in a "bowling" activity following an ice cream social when I was waiting half an hour for the person who finally gave me the tour. The staff leading the activity, and the young man who greeted me at the entrance, were very friendly with the residents, but I thought a bit condescending. I didn't care for the tour lady (who I think was the executive director). She made some comments that made me feel she was more bothered by the residents than anything (ex., "Everybody wants special privileges"). My mother in law lived in Kirkwood for about three months ten years ago, leaving when she had a stroke. It felt a lot warmer and caring at that time than on this visit (and I know the ownership has changed).

During the first time I toured this location I saw that they have a beautiful open area, the sales representatives were nice, however it wasn’t to my love one liking. The hallways are claustrophobic and they were just super stuffed with stuff. It made maneuvering difficult. There were just too much going on and it’s a tight space. Unfortunately, we did not move forward with moving into this facility.

I toured this facility and there were just too many unknowns for us to decide on moving my loved one in. We weren’t really sold on the layout and there weren’t any views for her to look at. The building itself was smaller, which was good, but also stark in general. The rooms were nice though. Everything was brand new so there wasn’t anything that appeared used or worn. In fact, when we toured they were just opening so there weren’t any residents yet. The person that gave the tour also seemed to be too much like a salesperson and that put us off a little. For others it may be perfect, but for my loved one’s specific needs, it just didn’t work.

My loved one lives here currently. We’ve been hopeful for the community to get better and have been looking for a routine or a schedule to be followed. It seemed to be getting better at first, but now my loved one has gone a week without a shower and hasn’t had her laundry picked up or her bed sheets changed. I’m hoping it’s just because of the holidays but I think there’s a level of detail the community is missing. They’re supposed to be working together as a team but it seems like they have no system. Everything is done through spreadsheets and books. Her room aside, the cleanliness of the rest of the facility is good and housekeeping seems to be on top of their game. They’re always visibly cleaning and I think their routine is spot on. When it comes to the food, it’s really hit or miss. We’ve asked to be contacted about the different dietary needs that she has and they haven’t reached out to confirm them. We’re not expecting them to change the menu for her, but we’d like to at least know how she can go about ordering the foods that she can eat. Overall, it hasn’t been a horrible experience but it hasn’t been great either.
