Maplewood Senior Living

Absolutely lovely community. Very bright, very welcoming. Care staff is very upbeat, residents seemed happy and very social. Love the farm to table food concept and what I tasted was excellent. Apartments were the nicest I have seen of all the assisted living communities I have toured. If this were in Putnam or Dutchess we would have already booked Mom's arrival. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a 75 minute drive (without traffic) for my brother, and it's in the opposite direction from where he works/lives. I would highly recommend anyone considering assisted living communities in the Danbury area put Maplewood on their list.

I love living in this lovely, quiet, bright facility. The entire staff is dedicated to our comfort & well-being. Medical staff is very professional. Overall the atmosphere is caring and prompt to meet residents needs; efficient & well-run facility. Minuses - food could be fresher, more seasoning and varied.

[name removed] lives on our memory care floor, as her husband has advanced dementia and is in need of round the clock care, [name removed] is fully cognitively present. she appreciates how our team looks after her husband, both physically and mentally, so that she can continue to live everyday life without feeling like she has to consistently be watching him.

My review: 1. This is a small community of seniors living with a semblance of respect and dignity. 2. Various daily activities to interest and occupy time meaningfully. 3. Staff is up-beat, very friendly and willing to help people. 4. Premises are maintained and look good. 5. There is live music and entertainment for us to enjoy. 6. The Activity Director spends a lot of time here making sure activities are meaningful. 7. Dining room is clean. Meal presentation is professional. Most meals are warm, some could be warmer. 8. Wait staff interacts with residents, are cheerful and helpful. 9. Senior Director holds frequent staff meetings to discuss problems and solutions. 10. It takes time to establish a routine and make new friends. 11. Costs are rather high, but what's new? 12. We love front door and back door to courtyard. 13. Cleaning crews are efficient. 14. Laundry crew does a good job folding clothes. 15. When I ask for help, it comes quickly.

This is a better community than most. The staff and community itself makes it better in my opinion. The food is very good, and they do a nice job. Games, outings around town, gardening, movies, and more are activities for the residents to choose from.

I would recommend Maplewood. As far as I can tell, it's one of the best assisited living places around, and that's why we selected it. I like the atmosphere and the location. It's close for us to come visit. I think the staff is doing a good job, and they're very friendly. They seem to bring people out and bring them together for activities quite a lot, although my loved one hasn't been able to participate much due to a disability. The food seems to be pretty good, and they offer a variety to choose from.

When making the difficult decision about the best place for your loved one, Maplewood makes it easier. Although the decor, food and amenities are all wonderful, the staff is what makes the difference.

I have been a nurse for the last 30 years and the last eight as a nurse for Maplewood of Chardon. While there I have witnessed a level of care, compassion, and respect for residents, that I had not seen at any other of my places of employment. In April of 2019 my mother who was 88 years old fell at home and spent several days in the hospital followed by a stay in a rehab unit. When mom told us that it was time to consider Assisted Living. We considered several other facilities closer to home but, none that compared to Maplewood at Chardon. In May of 2019 she moved in to Maplewood at Chardon and could not be happier. My wife and I can both attest to a vast improvement in her overall health because of the social life, exercise, entertainment, and friendships she has made at Maplewood.

My father has resided at Maplewood for 1-1/2 years. He has a very comfortable handicapped equipped apartment with a full kitchen. Maplewood offers a variety of activities for it's residents. The activities director and assistant work very hard to provide a range of engaging activities for the residents, including, but not limited to, concerts, discussion groups, and movies. Additionally, my father particularly enjoys working daily with the physical therapist in both balance classes and one on one strength training. There are a number of comfortable gathering spaces located through-out the residence. During the warmer months the residents are able to enjoy a very spacious and nicely furnished terrace. Throughout the ongoing Covid pandemic the staff, as well as the corporate offices, have worked tirelessly to keep everyone healthy and engaged. In particular I can't thank them enough for cheerfully helping my father to become comfortable with zoom. Their help enabled us to regularly "see" one another during an especially difficult time. The staff at Maplewood are all caring and kind, working daily to create and maintain a positive and engaging environment for the residents.

I must say that I am enjoying my home here at Maplewood at Darien. Although this year had been difficult with Covid , the entire staff is working hard to keep the residents safe and keep the fun going. My friends and I enjoy the happy hour and dancing along with the staff in the evening. We still are able to find some level of normalcy in a challenging time .

I have been living at the Maplewood Darien for the past 1 year and I must say that I really enjoy the community. It was the right choice for me. This year had been especially tough with Covid but the entire staff had been working hard to keep everyone safe and still able to have some normalcy . I appreciate all that they do .

My father has had steady memory decline for the past 10 years. After my mother died, he needed more engagement, cueing, and medical management than could be provided outside a congregate setting. Initially he was in another local facility that met none of those needs. As my mother's decline was quick, we scrambled to secure a suitable facility. Our initial visit to the facility was on a Sunday, where we found Maplewood residents out of their rooms, engaged in activities and interacting with one another. All other facilities we visited that day could only be described as "warehousing." We were aware of Maplewood's favorable reputation, as I am familiar with a research project which was conducted there. After my father's admission, he has had a higher level of functioning than in his preceding two years. The food is excellent in comparison to other facilities. Staff has been reasonably responsive to any concerns, and they have been addressed. My father reports he feels safe and the staff treat him well. My father has been a resident of Maplewood at Twinsburg for over two years now and it is hoped that he will reside there for many more years to come.

I have lived at Maplewood for over two years. I was promoted from a long term care facility (AKA nursing home). I hope to live here the rest of my life, never having to return to a nursing home. I’m 81 years old, living with a progressive neurological disease which weakens my body. Maplewood is a perfect fit for me in many ways. First, It enables me to age in place. Even if I require more assistance in the future, I will be able to remain in my apartment. Second, due to the fantastic fitness director here and her land and water programs, I have arrested my physical decline while here. Third, socialization and intellectual stimulation are important to me. Maplewood offers many opportunities for both. Besides my fellow residents, I have friends among the caring, competent and friendly staff. The 24/7 nursing support alleviates my anxiety. Fourth, I love my spacious, wheelchair friendly apartment. I appreciate that nearby apartments are occupied by both independent residents and those needing some physical help. In fact, couples with a great difference in needs can even occupy the same apartment.

Impressed with the community - boutique style and upscale community -right at the heart of Darien . Staff is friendly and helpful even when it if it was a last minute request . Good communication and I happy to have my aunt here.

Wonderful caring staff, beautiful furnishing, feels like 5 star hotel. Speedy action response, Easy access to Manhattan. just an hour train ride from Grand Central and 10 min walk, No car needed. Good food too. The new Stanford hospital is nearby. Transportation provided by the facility free of charge to local doctors when and if needed. There are good doctors around the area in case special doctor visits are required. Hairdresser is available inside the facility. Dentist visits periodically to provide service on site. PT and OT available upon request. Private nurses extra but good service is available when and if needed. We are very pleased with the choice of the facility

I have been living in this community since May 2018 - i have seen many changes throughout the years - some are good , some not so good. The renovation is nice but it really doesn't match the needs and resident's culture. Food is good, activities and concierge team are very helpful - Excellent staff overall - Caring and detailed oriented . I like my home here at Maplewood at Darien

Maplewood at Weston has worked hard to continually improve their services throughout the 4 years my Dad has been a resident. The staff is keenly aware of the intellectual interests and needs of their elderly population and programming reflects their understanding. In addition, meals are nutritious and modern, which makes meal time visits enjoyable for family members in an inviting dining room setting. During the ongoing pandemic, the corporate offices and local staff worked tirelessly to keep residents healthy. I can't thank them all enough for their efforts; from months of room service meals to multiple temperature checks per day while continually trying to keep residents socially engaged in small groups and individually, the staff truly outdid themselves.

The facility itself is new , modern , Up to date and clean. They have a friendly and caring team . Comparable pricing to the area .
